The Official Gundam GQuuuuuuX Anime Thread Mk I
Re: The Official Gundam GQuuuuuuX Anime Thread Mk I
My biggest concern is the fact that one of the writers is Hideaki Anno. We might get 5 year mid-season "creative break"

Re: The Official Gundam GQuuuuuuX Anime Thread Mk I
So today the Theatrical cut will be released , I Wonder if Gundam Info will have a sample relase like with the other projects?

A comparative video for about 1 minute was placed on Bilibili showing the scene's similarities of RX-78-2 and GQX's Gundam piloted by Char.
(don't know if it violates copyright so I am not giving a link, anyone interested can just go to bilibili and search for GQuuuuuuX and there are at least 2 1:10 videos that have RX-78-2 on the left and GQX's Gundam on the right)

Qux is a place holder in programming?
qux is 4, quux is 5, quuuuuux is 9, so GQuuuuuux is 09?

Now that there are updates to the setting and Lineart, is anyone else reminded of For the Barrel?
It was an "Abstract Retelling" of the first Gundam series with several notable (and deliberate) differences, at the outset GQuuuuuuX seems like they are trying to do an Abstract Retelling as well,

I like how people are guessing Amuro had a happier story in GQX, where he didn't get involved in the war and opened a toy company selling Haros.Mafty wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 4:28 pm Now that there are updates to the setting and Lineart, is anyone else reminded of For the Barrel?

Amuro didn't even develop the Haro, so I don't get why he'd open a toy company. The only thing he ever did was do a remod of the internals. The unit was made by SUN Co. He only made his fortune from re-licensing AFTER the war.MythSearcher wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 9:21 pm I like how people are guessing Amuro had a happier story in GQX, where he didn't get involved in the war and opened a toy company selling Haros.
This isn't an abstract retelling. It's branded explicitly as an "alternative history" story. So we have a "third" category to throw into the mix, now (well, really just a second one since the other "sub" category is just "parallel" for a variety of titles over the decades).Mafty wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 4:28 pm Now that there are updates to the setting and Lineart, is anyone else reminded of For the Barrel?

Yes, and Seabook was sold the unit cheap because the store owner who got the unit thought it was modded so not worth as much as an unmodded replica unit.(I guess Amuro's Haro's modded speech module also wasn't nice so the owner really wanted to get rid of its verbal abuse)Deacon Blues wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 7:15 pm

The concept is more about what he does in this continuum, since he is not seen, so any guess is I guess valid? At least he has the interest in modding a computer toy, so going into that career has some sense in it.
And the company won't sell the toy as the legendary hero's toy that he brought along with him in OYW, so the licensing might be easier for a beginner businessman.
Just saying the guess is happier than From the Barrel where he just died though.

Supposedly, Anno only write the OYW part. So yeah, he technically made Shin Gundam.
Which sadden me that he doesn't work on Shin Yaranaika.

Re: The Official Gundam GQuuuuuuX Anime Thread Mk I
Apparently he suggested to Takanobu Terada(before he left his position as producer of the SRW series) if he can get Char to pilot Eva Unit 2, which made Terada confused because aren't Eva pilots needed to be 14?
So Anno is fulfilling his dream of having Char on Unit 2.(RX-78-02)
Re: The Official Gundam GQuuuuuuX Anime Thread Mk I
So the movies are coming out (I can't go due to work), is there any news on when the series will air/where it will stream internationally (ie Crunchyroll, Netflix)?
Re: The Official Gundam GQuuuuuuX Anime Thread Mk I
The anime will start airing in April.

Thanks , I'll look out for what streaming service it comes to.
Re: The Official Gundam GQuuuuuuX Anime Thread Mk I
Watched this in my local cinema yesterday, really enjoyed it. Though the drastic artstyle switch between the OYW part and the present day part is a bit, not sure what the right word, but like a lot to take in? It would not surprise me if each of the studios worked on these parts seperately.
Very interested in seeing where the story goes and how the politics of this world is elaborated upon.

They are very careful in the switch. Most of the 0079 part's character designs are kept to be closer to the original designs other than Challia, just modernised a bit with higher definition. And Challia was renewed likely because he also appears in the 0085 part, but with Challia, the art style change is already not that sudden.SonicSP wrote: ↑Tue Mar 04, 2025 3:52 pm Watched this in my local cinema yesterday, really enjoyed it. This is more of an all star production, the credits shows that not only Khara worked on this, Trigger, Production IG, etc. also has their studio name and people listed. A lot of these people are probably working on passion for Gundam more than anything.
