WHY!! Seriously, a little guidance on the... subject matter by their parents could have prevented this.

Wow, just wow. I thought that kind of stuff happening in middle school was bad. This is just a whole new level of "oh my god." And that is a good question of what kind of penalties the kids should face.

Agreed. Back in fifth grade it was more like "Ewwww! Girls have cooties!"

Now it's "Awwwwhh yeah bebbe. Let's git' it on!"

I fear for our future generations. Television is leading our children towards a dark future. D:

If you could see me right now, I'd be holding my head in my hand and shaking it in disgust.

I think ZZ Gundam said it best: This takes "Oh my GOD" to a new level.

You know, I'm not really surprised. With the amount of emphasis put onto being sexually promiscuous in today's society, this was bound to happen. I'm not condoning what they did, it's still horrible, but we reap what we sow.

Still, this isn't the most disgusting thing I have ever heard of/witnessed. A girl at my high school smeared her own feces on an in-progress school mural. Not surprisingly, this is the same girl that has been caught doing heroin in the bathrooms.

As utterly disgusted as I am, I'm honestly not that surprised. I've feared for our generation ever since Myspace abuse became a problem. Example; I'm a high school senior that goes to a Bucks County Technical High School (which makes me think if anyone else who goes there browses this forum,) and we've recently had a big problem with Myspace abuse among students on the computers (mostly freshmen, surprise surprise...) Among the freshman, there is a select girl who always went on the computer no matter what class she was in, and, sadly enough, spent the whole period checking and rechecking for comments and browsing her friends pages for god knows what reason. Well, not too long ago our school bigwigs decided to put up a internet filter that blocks offensive and unnecessary web sites in response to the problem ( Ironically, it blocks image searches so that it's hard to find material for projects that require images, yet I have no problem accessing MAHQ or Mechatalk for some reason.) Well, the day they installed the web filter, the above-mentioned freshman girl kicked a kid off the computer (who happened to be doing productive work,) and went onto the web in an attempt to log into Myspace, and the following words popped up instantly "THIS WEBSITE HAS BEEN BLOCKED IN ACCORDANCE TO THE BCTHS INTERNET POLICY! THIS VIOLATION HAS BEEN LOGGED!" The second she saw this, she immediately gasped dramatically and began to frantically tell her other freshman peers, who also gasped at the news. My friend, who was a witness, said that he's never seen that many kids typing so fast in his entire life (or anyone for that matter.)

As if that didn't make me lose faith in my generation enough, a more recent incident really depressed me: There are a number of pregnant students in our school. One of them (who happens to be another freshman) went to the restroom, and as she was doing her business, she began to go into labor. SHe was immediately taken to the nurses office and had the baby there. That's one down, and more to go. (although I can't think of anything better to put on a high school application; "I WAS BORN HERE!!!!!!")

We've also had recent bomb threats, one of them written in fresh pencil on the back of a recent test paper that said; "On October 11th, 2007, this school is gonna go boom." The test paper was dated October 13th, 2007 and the dumb girl wrote her name on the paper. *palms face*

Edit: Hey! We've been having problems with fecal vandalism and rumored heroin abuse as well! We don't go to the same school, do we, G.Squirrel?

I for one am wondering about what effect this had on the 10 or so other kids that were in the classroom watching at the time.
What would their thoughts be on the matter?

J-Lead… wow… um, wow. That certainly freaked me out. Well, fortunately my high school had no pregnancies. The fact that we didn't have any pregancies is a given: I went to an all-boys Catholic high school (and no, we had no problems with our priests!). As for drugs and feces… I can only confirm that we had no feces smeared around anywhere on campus.

As for the article… damn. I'm sorry, but damn. Seriously, how in the name of Arthur C. Clarke could this have happened?!? I'm not going to go into MySpace or MTV here (because I've never watched a minute of MTV or even been on MySpace), but something is seriously wrong with our country if this is happening. I'm all for sex ed, but this is ridiculous! Seriously, somehow someone has to find out what in the name of heck went wrong here. And the parents should get some form of punishment: I mean, for pete's sake, how could they have exposed eleven or twelve year olds to the kind of stuff that would make them do this?

EDIT: That's a good point, Wingnut. I mean, what kind of therapy are they going to need? Okay, therapy's a little strong, but there's going to be some problems. And I get the feeling that that teacher's going to lose their job, very quickly.

My first reaction to the story was "Eh.", mainly due to the fact that I went to a fairly bad Middle School and, quite simply, hearing about students getting caught in the act was a fairly common occurance (It happened at least once a month), and the age of the students in my school is the same age as the students who got caught in this. So, my reaction remains "Eh.".

Of course, I don't think my county's schools are typical of your average ones elsewhere (At least I hope so :|), so I can imgine how hearing about this is probably something of a shock. I guess I'm simply desensitized to hearing about students having sex or being killed or other things that make the national news (Coming from other states :|).

There thoughts could have easily gone from being disgusted/shocked at the event to encouraging and nearly anything in between. If the media ever interviews any of those students, I'd be interested in seeing and/or hearing what they tell...

wow, just wow.
id hate to be that teacher who walked in on THAT. this is quite shocking, but things like this are bound to happen so im not surprised. but seriously, my question is this a result of too much sex ed or too little? some would say too much, but i say too little and not early enough.

i was recently reading a large article US News and World Report about how to make America better, and one of the sections was about sex ed in Sweden. heres a link to the article http://www.usnews.com/usnews/news/artic ... /26sex.htm
this sounds and looks like its working alot better than our system...

Wow… thanks for that article yukikaze. I agree, we've got too little sex ed in schools. I mean, this was about eight years ago, but I only really got sex ed in fifth grade; after that it was mostly a refresher course, though we did talk about STD's in high school. THAT was something I was definitely not told in grade school, though I did know that it was possible. Actually, that might have been from personal experience: I have a cousin who died of AIDS when I was about seven, so I did have a lot of questions about it (if I remember, he contracted it from a blood transfusion), and that's kind of when I learned about the dangers of sex. But I think that the Swedish system has a lot going for it: open and frank about it, not evading the issue at all, and making sure that people have access to information and people who can help them. All in all, two thumbs up for the Swedes.

As a small, personal side note: am I the only one who had nothing really freaky happen at my grade school or high school?

Yeah, they're being open and frank about it. Whenever we had sex education (or it ever came up) in our schools, it was like the episode of South Park on the subject ("You will get an STD and you will die!1one!" Kinda thing, nevermind the teachers  ).

God! I though child pornography was bad enough, but to hear this, it is insane! I blame the parents for lack of awareness and guidance upon their kids. Kids can't just be exposed to anything, not at tht age.

Well, soon kids are going to be in the same grade as their parents if this keeps up. I'm honestly not shcoked in anyway by this, as I've seen and heard worse in just about every school I've been in. Frankly, I don't think people should treat it as such a big deal. After all, this is all our fault, and what goes around comes around. Honestly, if every female celebrity flaunts their junk, how long is it gonna be before the the pre-teens that worship them do the same?
