The Most _____ Moment in anything Gundam

Basically what this is is a thread for anyone to discuss moments in anything related to Gundam that anyone would consider ironic, stupid, saddest, and so forth. Right now, the two at the top of my head is

1. The Most Stomach Turning-Gundam SEED-Seeing the unedited version of what GENESIS does to the human body when it destroys the Ptolemaeus lunar base and the Earth Alliance reinforcements fleet. Seeing people swell up and explode like hotdogs in a microwave is distrubing

2. The Most WTF Moment-Gundam Wing-The cowboy outfit Noin wears towards the end of the series. It looks like she's ready to ride the range rather than pilot mobile suits.

"Aaahh!"-The last words of many a mobile suit pilot.

Most Stupid: Allowing Andy to come back in Gundam SEED then having him turn good, Likewise for Mu La Flaga in GSD. I mean, there'd be absouletly NO way either one of them could survive. Even if Andy survived that explosion, he'd lose way more then his eye.
Tell me bats, what are you really scared of? Failure to save this cesspool of a city? Not finding the Commissioner in time? Me, in a thong?-Joker Arkham Asylum

Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t he also lose an arm and a leg? No to mention his rather hot looking special friend?

And doesn’t the Astray Manga have a part where it mentions Marten Decosta pulling him from the Wreckage and getting him in a stasis chamber until he could get Andy to a hospital?

His MS was a prototype, perhaps the cockpit was reinforced to for protecting the pilot’s life. I know the concept seems most abstract to CE but Real Life military hardware is usually made to keep the occupant(s) from being killed.

It was never fully explained but it isn’t impossible for Andy to have survived. As for La Flaga’s miraculous return, explaining that is much harder, but also not impossible with enough imagination.

Yep, he got tore up pretty good. And yeah, it's not impossible for Andy to have survived, especially survived as irreparably crippled as he was. I'd say it was more Mwu surviving his suit getting atomized with little more than some plus-sized papercuts all over his body and Kira surviving an exploding Strike unharmed (even with Astray's best attempt at the blast shield excuse) that were far more ridiculous survivals than Andy. And I'd even venture to say that Char surviving the Hyaku Shiki being crushed by a wrecked ship (and then, if I recall, having that wrecked ship explode on him), only to come away instantly unharmed and slip out of the flattened Hyaku into empty space (and presumably be rescued by some mysterious non-Titans, non-Axis, non-AEUG entity in order to found Neo-Zeon) to be an even bigger stretch than Andy getting torn apart in a LaGOWE explosion.

Well, we actually have no real idea what kind of injuries Char received from that incident unless it states somewhere in some novel. While he may have not lost any limbs, we don't know what kind of healable injuries he received, like broken bones and such.

Besides which the Hyakushiki, while of course being outwardly trashed, didn't look like it was actually damaged much inside. Andy's and Mwu's suits blew up entirely, unlike the Hyakushiki, whose main body was still relatively intact while the armor and outward areas were heavily damaged.

Which is partially exactly my point. It's very clearly shown as being crushed flat inside the hangar, and then being blown to bits with the rest of the ship, so for that much to be left intact (and the pilot being left as intact as Char was) is as much of a stretch as anything we've seen in SEED. And as stated, there's the fact that he's left stranded in space with no friendly factions to pick him up (well, the AEUG, but then he really didn't want to be associated with them at that point and we're led to believe that's the last they've seen of him) added on top of the unlikely explosion survival.

If I'm recaling the scene correctly: while from the outside it may have looked like the Hyakushiki was flattened, it may have just been that the Hyakushiki was pushed down into the flooring below it by the debris that fell on it, making it look like it was flattened, and then it was blown loose in the explosion. That Gundarium is tough stuff when it comes to anything but actual weaponry, lol. ^^

i dont remember any sequence showing the Hyakushiki being flattened. Plus it's in space, its not like its gravity or anything, it was just an explosion. It would have to be a big explosion too, since any piece of debris would have to be both heavy and travelling fast in order to crush an MS.

It seems just as likely that that wall-shaped debris actually protected Char from the main ship explosion as it would if the debris killed him.

*ahem* Back on topic.......

Best "Holy sh!t, Batman!" moment: Garrod Ran/Tiffa Addil activating the Gundam X's Satelitte Cannon. The pull-away shot revealing the extent of the blast after the Cannon gets fired nearly made me ruin a good pair of jeans.......

Best "ZOMGPWNED!!" Moment

Best "WTF??" Moment: Yazan Gable's legendary "motivational" crotch grab. 'Nuff said.

Best Display of Aerial Stunts Moment: Seabrook's first sortie in the F91. Dude does an aerial backflip and takes out two Mobile Suits with a beam rifle. Not bad for a first outing....

Hey, it wasn't that off-topic since we were discussing a stated moment. :D

Anyway:

Bigggest "WTF" moment: S-F catching Destiny's beam sword. I'm not going to go into any discussion of that scene as that would undoubtedly go way off-topic, but it was the most jaw-dropping moment I've seen in Gundam, and not in a good way. ^^b

Best comedy moment: Meer sneaking into Athrun's room. That girl has no common sense. :D

"Lacus wouldn't do that!"

"Huh? She wouldn't? Why?"

Best "All-out" moment: Usso barraging the Zanneck with Hangar (Top Limb) and Boots (Bottom Limb) parts. That kid has no sense of holding back, man.

Best "sign that the script writers were on crack or something when they wrote this" moment: Uso and Lupe's "bath" in Victory Gundam. Still waiting for the explanation as to how that determines whether or not you are a Newtype....

Most War-Movie cliché moment: Unamed GINN pilot at Panama who comments "Hmph. This is no fun" after blowing up a few tanks. Split second later, he gets shot by a Strike Dagger and dies.
REGENE: (Grins) Any last words, Buuuuur-ing?
(Bring just grits his teeth and the Garazzo’s escape pod breaks off from its main body, flying straight up.)
REGENE: (Shakes head) Right then. Forgot we don’t talk on Planet You.

Huh, I thought it was awesome, but maybe that's because I've seen one too many samurai animes.

Anyhow....

Best 'Bright Slap': Char's Counterattack, Bright sending his brat of a son reeling. Wacky fun.
I mean when you spend precious seconds to give an "All Your Nukes Are Belong To Us" speech before you even start the Gundam up, you know you're too overzealous for your own good.~wza

That and Impulse splitting at the waist to avoid Freedom's beam saber slash gave me the same feeling.

That moment with the Impulse not so much for me, but that's just because it reminds me of Uso's clever use of the V Gundam's modular ability.

However, For the miraculous anti-ship blade catch, I remember seeing a photoshopped series of screenshots that showed the Strike Freedom missing the blade, and being cut in the head by it. I can't seem to find it now, though.

Meh. I'd agree except I thought it was a lot better when they used that visual effect the first time - at JOSH-A. Because then, they basically WERE in a giant microwave. a microwave ten kilometers across...

For me, the Second Best "OMFGPWNED" moment: When Emma biatch-slapped Fa twice in the space of about thirty seconds in Zeta.
(The best one is still that shot of Judau getting kicked in the jollies)

For the Funniest: When Athrun wakes up with meer in his bed and falls off panicking or Kou addressing Gato as sir

Saddest: Bernie getting turned into "hamburger"

Creepiest: Rey hugging Durandal like a little fairy

Well, the kick in question is being landed by pre-ZZ rewrite (read: feminine and totally lame) Mashymere Cello.....making the pwn much more painful and ego-damaging.....

I think I've mentioned this before, but the most positively hair-raising scene in GS is in ep 48 when all mobile suits launch to battle with the Tachigare, Okori Yo! playing in the background. That one scene sets the mood for an epic battle to follow.

My bestest fanboy moment is in the final ep of GSD when Athrun first slaps Lunamaria around, and then puts Shinn in his place. That made me feel warm inside unlike any other moment in the series.

And predictably one of the best moments of the original is when Char delivers the rocket into the cockpit.

I decided to stay with the positive side, since I don't want to get all negative on CE again. ;)

I think the most badass moment in Gundam, is in Gundam Seed Astray (B) is when in the end of the R sidestory, there is a short B manga clip, and the pirate who takes over Atremis is all "I am the man, don't mess with me" and Gai just gets in Blue Frame and kills him.
