True (though admittedly I'm not as familiar with sound effects) overuse of it can go from homage , to just adding the sound effect for the sake of it.

That being said , are their any Gundam sound effects used in other Anime?

Loads... often in blatant homage.

Yeah, it's nostalgia.

Remember, SEED was a whole generation's first Gundam show.

Anyone see the new theatrical cut? Curious if there was any big difference in the epilogue!

Binge watched SEED HD, SEED Destiny HD, and Freedom on Netflix. Overall, movie's an ok extension for laser robot battles but nothing really happens that didn't already happen in Destiny so narratively it doesn't need to exist. Even the opening act of the staged city nuking didn't need to happen from my understanding beyond the Civics needing to prove how much better they are than Kira when there's a severe tech advantage. Having Shinn be the butt monkey was a good choice though.

But also, if Durandel was involved in Lacus' creation as a perfect telepathic coordinator to lead the world he created.... why would he try to kill her in Destiny? I don't think the movie staff thought this part through. Additionally; Lacus' lips bothered me. I don't know idea why and I have nowhere else to put this.

Yeah, the FREEDOM movie is a pretty lazy and shallow exercise that makes no meaningful contributions to the setting or the story as a whole.

It's a nostalgia-fueled anniversary project meant to shake the fans down for some quick cash, and nothing more.

The obvious Doylist answer is that the whole "Accord" nonsense was a bullsh*t addition that Fukuda et. al. dreamt up for the movie that isn't actually based on any unused plans from the series and doesn't really make sense in context or out.

The Watsonian answer, well, "for the same reason everyone in this movie wants to kill her". She was created for a specific purpose and she not only rejected that purpose she was leading others to reject it as well.

I mean sure, maybe he was feeling a little sore about her and Kira ruining Le Creuset's plan to murderize all of humanity. bro put that hit out on her before she even did anything in Destiny. Speaking of Rau, I imagine he wouldn't like the existence of the Accordions much like he wasn't a fan of the Ultimate Coordinator concept.

Director Mitsuo Fukuda, producer Hisakazu Naka, and Sōichirō Hoshi, voice of Kira Yamato, were in attendance at the stage greeting for the commemorative screening. They revealed that screenwriter Chiaki Morosawa and Shigeru Morita wrote the scenario while planning for Gundam Seed Freedom. In addition, Fukuda stated that the script for SEED FREEDOM ZERO was completed 20 years ago. The storyboards were nearly half finished, and the oldest storyboards actually predate those of Gundam Seed Freedom. He added that 20 years ago, SEED FREEDOM ZERO was originally planned as an original video anime (OVA), but the staff has not yet decided how it will be presented now.

Shigeru Morita should've been hired as a cowriting for the FREEDOM movie, he did the stargazer ona

It turned me off Gundam completely. Absolute garbage show and a horrible first impression to new fans.

It may not have been your cup of tea (or mine), but the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED TV series was an unexpected smash hit in Japan that got some of the highest ratings in the franchise's history. Just slightly short of the all-time ratings leader Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam.

Despite Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny underperforming badly, it still has a huge amount of nostalgia value to a VERY large audience... so the movie made serious bank despite being pretty lame.

I tried to watch that Destiny movie and I just didn't get the hype around it either. It was basically a dude having fits of schizophrenia while flying in a mobile suit while their CO's on the command bridge talk international politics. Still have no idea why they were around that random village or any context behind the psi powers being used on the protagonist. Post UC war gundam is generally unwatchable garbage because of nonsense like this besides IBO.

Re: The Official Gundam SEED FREEDOM Anime Thread Mk I

From Facebook:
"Some leaked scenes of the upcoming Gundam Seed Freedom Zero animation project shown during the Special Screening for the movie in Japan.
We can see some very interesting interactions as well as a new character beside queen Aura. This will supposedly include the Strike Freedom hijack incident happened before the movie's events. So we will get some action in addition to some very good relationship building between Shinn and Luna, Kira and Lacus, Cagalli and Athrun as well as others. "
More SEED??? X_x

Thanks for the info, sounds promising Chiaki Morosawa never wrote for anime until meeting Fukuda which I think helped SEED, FREEDOM felt too influenced by later mecha anime but tried to capture the old SEED style which hurt the product, ZERO seems more untouched and will fit CE better.

I'm curious whether it'll be a prequel to Seed, Destiny, or Freedom.

Anyway, how come people tend to say Destiny is worse than Victory? Have they not seen Victory?

Re: The Official Gundam SEED FREEDOM Anime Thread Mk I

It will be interesting to see if this Interquel works in filling in some of the blanks of the movies story. The length may also be an issue; the shorter the runtime is , the harder it is to fully flesh out the characters and plot. THat being said the story in itself just needs to expand on what is seen in the movie, so it can probably avoid the issue of cramming too much into the time frame.

Really one of the better CE side stories was Stargazer; which fixed some of the story issues Destiny had and had arguably better character development.

If Seed Zero used some of the same staff as Stargazer (who it's worth noting worked on Seed even if they weren't the main ones) it might work a bit better.

Re: The Official Gundam SEED FREEDOM Anime Thread Mk I

Fukuda didn't hire any of his staff writers from DESTINY to work on FREEDOM, which I think was a mistake but a PREQUEL that actually has 2 key writers from Destiny and one who worked on Stargazer that includes new characters that didn't appear in the movie is strange. I definitely see a sequel to FREEDOM in the cards now.
