Code Geass Bits and Bobs

It's been bugging me for a long time, so I thought I'd bring some Code Geass material to attention.

The first topic are some additional units I've found in the Movie. I'm sure veterans here are aware of it, but there is a neat looking spider-like Knightmare frame known as the "Issus" which is destroyed early on. The Kingdom of Zilkhistan also has a Land battleship of their own (Seen in the middle of the image) (right-click on the link to open it).

In addition, the trailer for the Film also contained another unit that wasn't actually featured: The Lancelot Albion Zero, a reconstruction of the Albion for (the second) Zero, which he stopped using following a bloody incident. Official info on it is scarce, though there are various model kits available for it and it's also usable in Super Robot Wars 30. It's performance is said to be on par with the Guren SEITEN and is mostly identical aside from a new color scheme.

Furthermore, several of the units in the film are fitted with Energy Shields. The Mahoroba Type-00 notably uses them on it's forearms in one scene. It's also said that the Quinn Roses units and the Sutherland II also possess them on the armor pieces on their hands, but I haven't seen this in use, so it could be false.

Another minor point concerns some facts about Akito the Exiled. First, there is a large Airship called the "Gallia Grande" used by Britannia in one episode, though it's unarmed, called the "Gallia Grande" for profile purposes, and also the "Canterbury" weapon in E.U's support vehicles section is actually a Britannia weapon. Unfortunately, I got the information for both of these from the Code Geass wiki, which could be unreliable, so I understand skepticism.

One final point I'd like to make is that the Gekkoei was unfinished, which is why it lacked legs. Surprisingly, in SRW 30, you can actually pilot the completed model. However, it's beyond my knowledge if this completed version could be added to the profiles, as it could be considered non-canon and I'm not even sure if it would be placed in either the Code Geass or SRW sections.

Just doing my best to help compile the knowledge of the mechs.

Yeah, that's just a page from the Mechanical Completion book for the movie. It's marked up as "Terrorist KMF" and described as one of a bunch of different models so mixed up that it's difficult to tell who they actually belong to. Presumably it's named for the Battle of Issus in 333 BCE, the huge victory the Hellenic League scored over the Persians that marked the beginning of the end for Persia's military dominance.

You may be confusing two different models of Sutherland there.

I can find no mention of the Sutherland II having a Blaze Luminous system, but Jeremiah Gottwald's Sutherland Royal has two... one on each arm.

The Quinn Roses Type-Z and Type-B are not described as having a built-in Blaze Luminous, but it's noted that their lances have a Blaze Luminous that can be used defensively or offensively.

Yeah, a good rule of thumb is to not trust what you get from a Fandom wiki unless it's policed to hell and back like the Star Wars one.

Julius Kingsley's (Lelouch's) floating ship is indeed named Gallia Grande, the name of which is an indicator that either Emperor Charles or "Julius" has a TERRIBLE sense of humor.

The Canterbury definitely isn't an EU weapon, it's a Euro-Britannia weapon... it's the walking cannon the Britannian forces use to breach the walls of Castle Weisswolf. It seems to just be a less sh*tty version of the Japan Liberation Front's Raikou, or perhaps the Raikou is an off-brand version of Britannia's Canterbury.

Yeah, it's a reference to the Zeong from Gundam, which was also a half-finished robot without legs sent into battle by a masked total bastard that is often playable as a complete version outfitted with legs.

The completed Gekkoei Sui is SRW-only.

It is interesting to see an insect theme in the army of Zilkhistan, as the Batalalan Du, has a Scorpion theme to its design.

Speaking of Sunrise references, did anyone else notice the J Jarja Vakka, had a similar name to the R-Jarja from ZZ?

The name is also similar to Jar Jar Binks...

Given the myriad of references mech shows have, that could well be the case. The Tequila Gunner from Dougram looks like an Orange AT-AT for example, then there are the Beam Sabers....

I also recently discovered this, apparently, in the Oz the Reflection Photo Novel, Orpheus' partner, Ze, uses a custom Glasgow (The Zeed the Tiger custom model as pictured in the main unit's profile I assume) that carried an electromagnetic Double Anti-Air Gun.

Most firearms in Code Geass are electromagnetic.

Even small arms like the pistols and bullpup submachineguns carried by the Britannian military are electromagnetic in nature. They use a two-stage railgun system where an electrically-driven pneumatic piston starts the bullet moving and it's further accelerated by superconducting rails inside the gun's barrel. That's why they make that oddly modulated popping noise. There's no gunpowder.

The only guns I can recall that are explicitly said to use explosive propellants in their firearms are those wielded by governments that are far behind Britannia technologically. The EU's Alexander, for instance, uses a caseless machine rifle. (The Alexander Valiant uses a linear gun instead.) The other is the Glasgow Orphaeus, where the "mince maker" drill/machine gun uses conventional armor piercing ammunition.

Re: Code Geass Bits and Bobs

Its confirmed in side material of the anime that there is no gunpowder used for weapons. Even the small firearms are bolt and coil guns.

Been reading the Oz the Reflection Manga as well. Seen things like a Sutherland Glinda equipped with Missile pods behind it's shoulders, Sutherlands carrying small shields, and what appears to be a successor unit to the Panzer Hummel. It's unfortunate official information on this tech is usually limited to just their appearances in Manga.

For the most part, that's because they're not actually different in any meaningful way.

The Sutherland Glinda, for instance, is just a completely ordinary Sutherland with a bright red paintjob. The missile pods and other gear are standard hardware usable by a bunch of different Britannian models, and were initially shown in the TV anime as optional weapons for the Gloucester.

They're only listed separately for the sake of padding out artbook page counts.
