RX-78 Atmospheric reentry tested

Yeah, Nagoya University in Japan tested First Gundam's atmospheric reentry in a hypersonic wind tunnel.

The paper can be read here: https://www3.chubu.ac.jp/documents/facu ... 981e1d.pdf (This is what the tweet took the image from, in part 6.5.)
https://www.jsass.jp/conference/nenkai41.php (A30 of this conference is ref 29 of the above paper, which is the actual experiment, but the link consist of only the first page of the paper)

Re: RX-78 Atmospheric reentry tested

That's really neat, does the paper talk about what heat transfer they detected for the particular reentry angle it used?

Probably to some point, because it said the heat is cut by a certain percent with the Eureka 7 surfing pose over the hands in front pose, but since the actual paper has to be a member of the JSASS, I don't know.
