Gelgoog Jaeger/Marine question
Where are their beam sabers stored?
Re: Gelgoog Jaeger/Marine question
That's... a really good question actually. There's some lineart that you can find on the Gundam Wiki page for the suit which looks like it might describe where the Gelgoog Marine stores its sabers but I can't make out what it says.

Found it! An MS Bible publication about the Gelgoog Marine has lineart of where the storage is located.

They are stored in the hip armor, kinda like those of the Kaempfer's. This made me look again at lineart of the Gelgoog Jaeger. Unfortunately, it doesn't have those beam saber "pockets" in its hip armor.

Probably because a beam sabre isn't its fixed weapon and not a standard issue.hitokirigarou wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2019 9:58 am Found it! An MS Bible publication about the Gelgoog Marine has lineart of where the storage is located.

Which makes sense because it is supposed to be a design focused more on its shooting abilities and may even be used for sniping purposes.
If you look at the HGUC model, it does not have a beam sabre, neither does the old kit.
Older source books and MS encyclopedia, etc. also doesn't list a beam sabre for the MS-14Jg.
It is only the more recent manga, CDA and MSV-R: Rainbow's Shin Matsunaga, we get MS-14Jg's with beam sabre/blade. I'm pretty sure it can use a beam sabre or naginata from a regular MS-14A, but since it has a backpack, the original hard point for hanging the beam naginata is no longer usable, it will have to hang it somewhere else, which likely wouldn't be hard to find because Zeon has a history of hanging melee weapons all over the place on a MS.
Re: Gelgoog Jaeger/Marine question
0080 is a bit odd in that it doesn't show the Rick Dom II holding its heat saber either on its backpack but in 0083 it does. And aside from the number of thrusters, the backpack layout is pretty much the exact same for both 0080 and 0083 Rick Dom II units. So the heat saber was retconned in later after 0080.
Plus, Shin Matsunaga's Gelgoog Jaeger HGUC has the beam sabers too. So maybe a MG release or a updated regular Jaeger HGUC release might include sabers too along with a place to attach them... Gelgoog Marine kits doesn't have the attachment either outside of a brief description, so maybe the Jaeger might be like that too retconned in...

Re: Gelgoog Jaeger/Marine question
If we use the HGUC kit, it will be impossible to place 2 beam sabres on both sides because the two sabres will interfere with each other inside the body.
If we use the illustrations, which usually have a skirt at a wider angle (at least both the original pic and the HGUC pic by Beecraft), the sabres will interfere with the thighs of the MS.
