Oh okay. It just happened this last week so I was wondering if it was just me or if it has been happening to others. Thanks for helping me realize it's probably just me.

Same, I'm able to view it fine as well.
My prediciton for episode 20.
-Only 3 minutes of actual fighting
-10 minutes of flash backs to stuff no one cares about
-5 minutes of Sekai making self rightous speeches with the units standing entirely still with only panning shots and other intermal monologues about the Heart of the cards.
-3 seconds of the Meijin telling them to rage on
-1 minute of Jiggy Howlin' super instant win move prep and execution
-what evers left will be spent on congratulations and then realizing Sekai is hurt.

Yeah there'll probably be a lot backstory...
BUT WHO CARES ABOUT THAT SEKAI SHOULD JUST BLOW UP THE YAJIMA TOURNAMENT STAGE LIKE AN MINI IDEON-LEVEL CATACLYSM.

So is that a good thing, or a bad thing?gunform1010 wrote:That's the point he's making.
Because I really think it's a good fun thing to turn the tropes up to eleven for this particular show.

It's a BAD thing. Tropes are always bad. Just like that site itself.

It depends more on HOW the tropes are used really, I for one love the blood knight trope and the fact that it can get so veried in proper execution makes it great such as Ali Al Sacheez on the more "bloody" side or Domon Kasshu on the more "knight" side Tropes are tools for the use of people in creation and really there is a trope for anything it's when things get stale that its bad Sekai is a very basic cookie cutter character with most the Shonen Hero troper pack played straight is it bad it most certainly is because that makes him predictable non-varied and stale HOWEVER saying all tropes are bad is like saying a certain set of tools are bad just cause they are easilly identifiableLord Dearche wrote:It's a BAD thing. I agree. A trope is neither good nor bad, but it can be used well or poorly.GX9900-Gundam-X wrote:It depends more on HOW the tropes are used really

Bad thing but only b/c the cliches don't help us really like the characters. There should be two goals to convince to remember the series and therefore the mechs...- good story development and interesting characters. Cliches are tropes that are just tired... like you just avoid them b/c the audience hates it, having seen it one too many times...SNT1 wrote:So is that a good thing, or a bad thing?gunform1010 wrote:That's the point he's making.

Tropes bad? Bull. You expect people to bring constantly new things to the table? Not happening. Likely in the process you'd ruin whatever story/premise you're trying to bring forth. We must be gradually be eased forth to the new.Lord Dearche wrote:It's a BAD thing. Tropes are always bad. Just like that site itself.

Setting aside the fact that every piece of, well, every Literature/Film/Media out there falls in some form of familiar characterization and not because of a site (because not one website actually invented the word 'trope' as implied), Try Fighters isn't attempting to win viewers and fans over with a unique plot and characterization. I would agree some elements are a bit too familiar, but given AGE's total failure I would imagine Try's over-the-top yet familiar Shonen style is exactly the medicine Banrise and its fans ordered.Lord Dearche wrote:It's a BAD thing. Sorry, you're officially wrong.Lord Dearche wrote:It's a BAD thing. Tropes are always bad. Just like that site itself.
Like the site or not, actual tropes themselves (that is, minus audience's reaction) are neutral, storytelling tool.
If "Tropes are always bad", please tell me an example of fiction without any trope.

Real~ly hoping to see much more out of the upcoming fight the show has been hyping probably since Sekai fought Sleggar. And that he'll do more than just spam supers. )=
Given the fighters and the locale, I really want some full on G Gundam action dammit!

I suppose it is theoretically possible, but there has been nothing else to prove or disprove this theory.
As I often say to myself, one data point does not an analysis make.

Most people have been operating on the assumption that the Kamikis have passed on since Episode 2, when that shrine showed up; it also put the final nail in the coffin to the "Sekai is Reiji and Aila's son" crack theory.
But I suppose it could be fake...I mean, it happened in Ninninger.
