Re: Sword Art Online

I know a lot of people have been complaining about how it doesn't feel serious because no one's life is in danger, but I feel like SAO demonstrates that it can bring real character development to the table with this arc. I really feel it blows the GGO arc out of the water, develops Asuna much more, and properly puts Kirito as a secondary supporting character.

That, and I'm on the verge of tears every week from all the cuteness ._.

Re: Sword Art Online

Well now that quite an episode. I say it was the best Episode in a long while for this series. While Kirito does a hero routine like normal we only see parts of it. I do admit that I actually cheered when he appeared to help at the end of the last episode. The way it was done was just plain Awesome. And this episode continues it with him going "Nope Sorry You shall Not Pass,".

That said now I am eagerly awaiting next week's episode.

Oh God the feels 。・゚゚・(>д<)・゚゚・。

See, this is why I felt like this arc was above GGO.

Re: Sword Art Online

Oh yeah. Agreed hands down. This arc combined with Calibur are the best part of SAO II. Calibur was a fun bit and this arc was just as fun but if a bit mysterious with Yuuki and the Knights holding so sort of mystery.

Me personally I knew it was going to happen since I have been cruising the different forums about SAO after I started watching it. However that didn't prepare me for it actually happening. They actually did this episode justice and done it up to eleven. Heck! I have a friend who actually read the Light Novels and even HE hasn't prepared for it. He said that seeing it in an Anime-like format was even more of a tear-jerker then reading it was.

Of course sadly the Feels are not over. /sigh/ But I know its going to be a good ride nonetheless.

Re: Sword Art Online

This next episode is going to be THE Tearjerker of the entire series. /sigh/ I am kind of down that with this Episode SAO II will be over. I really hope a SAO III is going to be coming.

Re: Sword Art Online

Call me crazy, but I just put money down on this.

I also got Aniplex USA's release of Extra Edition. Their prices still suck ass but it wasn't too bad for this. Can't own the full show so this is the next best thing, right?

Re: Sword Art Online

My eyes. They are leaking everywhere. I'm kind of glad the author went this route. The first two arcs covering "trapped in a video game" were good, but extending them to GGO felt stale. That being said, having read the next arc after this 。・゚゚・(>д<)・゚゚・。 probably not going to be a good base for SAO3.

Re: Sword Art Online

I'm too lazy to do research so I'll just ask you pro's.

Did Season 2 every finish airing?

How did it turn out?

Re: Sword Art Online

It finished airing like back in december.

The first half was all GGO based, and thanks to Sinon/Miyuki Sawashiro's cahracter, it was actually great. The interactions were a lot better then they were when Asuna was involved.

The second half though sort of just dealt with minor ALO stuff, and Yuuki. Overall as far as both seasons go,

GGO segment >>>>Original SAO Segment > S2 ALO segment >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>S1 ALO Segment'

Though the original will always be terrible overall because they removed Argo from the anime entirely.

Re: Sword Art Online

Yes. It finished with Mother Rosario Arc which is my personal favorite arc of the entire series. With one, it focusing on Asuna for once, and two, it really is an awesome part of the series. If you didn't like the Gungale Arc then just ignore it and turn to the Calibur Arc then into Mother Rosario Arc which finish up the season. Honestly my personal opinion is the second season is ONLY Calibur and MR Arcs ignoring Gungale.

Re: Sword Art Online

My 1/6 Suguha has finally arrived!

Ya know, despite not being a huge fan of the series in general, I do buy a lot of merchandise of it... I got a Sinon figure at a con a few months ago too.

Re: Sword Art Online

I've been casually following this series on and off, watching stretches of episodes since Season 1; however, I've managed to catch almost all of the Gun Gale Online arc of SAO2. Is Episode 14 really the end of GGO and Death Gun? I can see that there is closure to the plot in terms of the character journey, but I thought it would lead into a bigger story; it sounds like GGO and Death Gun do not play any role in the story going forward. Is that right?

Yeah, they specifically mention they have yet to catch one of the people involved.

Re: Sword Art Online

I'd definitely suggest reading SAO Progressive for people who didn't like regular SAO it's a HUGE improvement over the original

Re: Sword Art Online

I just finished Season 1 on Netflix(since it's the only season on there) and I'm currently unimpressed. Many friends suggested it even though I'm not too fond of anime *gasp* since I'm heavy into gaming and was "action packed."...but it kind of fails my expectation of an anime based on "what if VR games were super VR."

So far(and I need to be clear that I've only seen season 1) the action is ok...just scarce and short lived. There's one episode in the second half of the season that shows what could be if they went ahead and had it more of a team based story instead of following one dude and functioned like an actual MMORPG. They more than tried to set it up by introducing 5 or so characters that only show up here and there (sometimes only once). They could've had a Samurai, Big Black guy, Dragon Tamer, Asuna(warrior chick), Dual wield specialist, Incest Cousin(White mage), Red Elf Blood Knight, cat lady, and nerd guy (other white mage....I'd watch that.

The other issue I have is the pacing since things tend to go too quickly and what I assume to be two chapters of the print are squeezed into one season. I feel like they could've done more by making each story arc its own season.
Spoiler
Then there's the fact that no one, even after they get out of the death game arc, treats the game as a game, and they all act ridiculously serious over crap that doesn't matter or have no reason to even have a reaction to.

Are the red elves going to attack the green elves? Send a goddamn IM to your other green elf buddies to get them squad up. Just because nerdy green elf is busy doesn't mean you can't call the others to arms.

The green elf traitor dude was literally just chilling in an office by himself doing nothing but sitting down when the queen elf called him a traitor and exiled him. Just create a new character, dude. He's being an NPC for no reason.

Even the death game arc has a couple moments like this. The best one I can think of is when the Army guys tried bullying children into giving up their items....in a non-player killing area where no harm could literally be done to the kids. Granted, kids are dumb and could be tricked, but then the heroes show up and don't act any more intelligent.

Also Asuna is annoying and brings nothing to the show.
