Macross 30: The Song That Crosses The Galaxy

It was recently announced that there will be a new Macross game published for the PS3 by Studio Artdink: Macross 30-The Song That Crosses The Galaxy. It will be set on Planet Ouroboros and will feature protagonists and singers from all of the major Macross productions except, it seems, Macross II. The official site describes it as a combination of original story, anime and flight action RPG.

Also, here's the translated Famitsu preview of the game with a ton of screenshots.

As far as I'm concerned, this game sounds all kinds of awesome. I can just picture it--

Isamu: What the--?! Guld, that crazy guy's flying his Valkyrie with a guitar!
Basara: LISTEN TO MY SONG!!
Guld: Heh, doesn't sound any crazier than you, Mad Skywriter.
I can fly if I ride the wind! Gori gori!

Basara tends to drag down the quality of anything he's a part of, but I'm all for a new Macross game in general. Last one I got was the PS2 game of the original series. It'll be cool to have something new that isn't a blu-ray bonus.
SHIHO: This is Codename “Background”. Codenames “Lenny” and “Carl” are suitably distracted. Begin the operation.

Re: Macross 30: The Song That Crosses The Galaxy

4Gamer has more news and more and better screencaps about Macross 30. Apparently the story for the game has been penned by Master Kawamori and Ukyo Kodachi. Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Kodachi work on the Frontier novelizations and Macross The Ride?

I HAVE FOUND A REASON TO LOVE AGAIN.

*Does not see Protodeviln* I am disappointed already, but I'll wait until it's released.

I hope this has a free mission online mode like 0081 had. I still play that game after all this time.

It certainly looks decent enough. If I hear the controls are solid and not wonky I wouldn't mind importing it.

Re: Macross 30: The Song That Crosses The Galaxy

A new trailer has been released. It has more animation from the story. I see a complicated amount of Kanji it seems. I think there will be customization. The 30th gundam game had a lot of customization and original animation and it was easy to pick up on and probably my favorite game of this gen. I have high hopes for this game.

The awesome cannot be contained!!! I am a little disappointed that they've left out Roy Fokker and the Macross II characters but, eh, nothing's perfect.

Re: Macross 30: The Song That Crosses The Galaxy

This article explains some of the story I did not know about. Apparently they are going hard corps about it and it takes place 1 year after the frontier series.

My guess is they are going to have some old villians and characters but I doubt we are going to get any more to the ending of frontier.

Re: Macross 30: The Song That Crosses The Galaxy

Gematsu posts new pics of boxart for the Macross 30 LE.

The Disc cover features Minmay (who's being voiced by Mari Iijima BTW), Mylene, Sheryl and Ranka (not a word out of you Neo [even though you'll probably say something anyway]) along with two of the M30 characters, Aisha and Mina.

The box features the other new character, Leon, along with GORGEOUS VF-1J DYRL, VF-11, YF-19, Basara's VF-19, VF-0, VF-25 and the new YF-30

Dang that's hardcore. Have you gotten Gundam Extreme Vs? I would get this one but when I think about ordering it I think about how I should get that one first.

Re: Macross 30: The Song That Crosses The Galaxy

In Thursday's Famitsu magazine we got a little more news about Macross 30. There were lots of nice screenshots like Sheryl talking to her great aunt Sara, some swimsuit fanservice from Sheryl, Ranka and Mina (and Alto for the ladies) and newly illustrated title cards for the different Macross productions.

Also some confirmation on mechs in the game. Looks like we'll get to use the Zentradi power armors like the Zentran Nousjadeul-Ger and the Meltran Quedluun-Rau (or Rhea?). Also we'll get to fly Michel's VF-25G sniper Valk and looks like Gamlin's gonna be rockin' the VF-22 Sturmvogel that he had in Dynamite 7, though I'd prefer if he had his original VF-17 Nightmare.

Speaking of the VF-22, there was a screenshot of what looked like Max, Milia and Gamlin ALL flying their VF-22s. How do you win?
