Re: The Official Gundam Unicorn Anime Thread Mk V
Hmmm.....I liked this episode. It was beautiful. And Bright has now become my favorite male character in the franchise.
IMHO, this is the best episode so far: the previous was a clusterf*** (sorry for the cussing here), but this one felt balanced and well-written. There wasn't so much action, but I actually appreciated that: no forced MS Porn or any of that crap. Just characters interacting like they must.
And the way Banagher and Zinnerman rescue Marida is BEEEAAAUUUTIFUL! Shame it won't last long though...But we can keep this, anyway. Meh.
Now the torturous, One-Year wait for the next episode (Full Armor Unicorn: YES!)

Re: The Official Gundam Unicorn Anime Thread Mk V
Y'know, that's a good point, about the action. Any time there is "good" action, like in episode 4, people complain about it being mecha porn. So here we have this episode, which doesn't really have any insane battles (the "quality" of them, whatever THAT means, was probably on par with the third episode's), and there are complaints of its combat being disappointing. Fans are a difficult bunch to please indeed.

Re: The Official Gundam Unicorn Anime Thread Mk V
To be fair to the latter there
Spoiler
was not exactly much action until the last 4-5 minutes; most of it was just Unicorn Units 01 and 02 grabbing each other with Delta Plus getting eviscerated in between.

Re: The Official Gundam Unicorn Anime Thread Mk V
I'm watching Turn A right now, so after all the good character bits in this episode and the much better pacing, you wanna know something? I don't give a flying frak about the levels and quality and what not of the "action" in this episode. If all 5 had was two scenes of the Unicorn and Banshee fighting and all the rest of the episode, I'd be a happy panda.

I was bored, sooooo here's what the plaque on Bright's wall says:
(That was a bitch to read in spots! Yay Engrish!)MEDAL OF HONOR CITATION
For heroic achievements above and beyond the call of his duty as commanding officer of the Londo Bell unit during the operation to prevent the enemy Neo Zeon fleet commanded by Char Aznable from capturing Axis and dropping it onto Earth, on March 12 U.C.0093.
Thanks to the leadership of Captain Bright Noa, the E.F.S.F.'s Londo Bel unit, including the Ra Cailum from which he directed the operation and the mobile suit forces under his command achieved remarkable success in their mission under highly dangerous adverse conditions.
With their heroic actions, undertaken without regard for personal safety, they boldly thwarted the operation to drop Axis onto Earth, which would have brought about unimaginable calamity. Captain Bright, his forces, and the entire E.F.S.F have earned the highest of honors.

I don't suppose Amuro got one of those posthumously? Oh and it was totally awesome that they mentioned Luio & Co. in this episode.Deacon Blues wrote:I was bored, sooooo here's what the plaque on Bright's wall says:

Re: The Official Gundam Unicorn Anime Thread Mk V
I completely agree: I had a Gundam Unicorn marathon when the 5th Ep came out with my gf and two other friends of mine. After that, we asked each other which were our favorite episodes. I said Episode 5 was my fav, and my gf completely agreed with me. But my two douche friends said that they loved episode 4 because it had "the more robots" (note these guys liked Transformers 2, so I should've expected that ¬¬).Kratos wrote:Y'know, that's a good point, about the action. So I am just as annoyed by how there's people who prefer "action" (or rather, mindless robot bashing/smashing/shooting in the screen) than actual action (like when Banagher and Marida were fighting and the tension when Zinnerman is trying to save Marida).
Heh. Doesn't matter really: its their opinion

Just finished episode 5...
Did anyone else notice Amuro? When the green Psycho waves helped to lift the ship you see what I thought were three Newtype spirits helping Banagher. I had a time trying to identify the first two, but then you see Amuro's eyes. And the green waves are exactly like Char's Counterattack.
If you have seen the original Gundam you see the same eyes when Amuro kills Lalah... Minus the crashing waves and stardust.

The only "spirits" that intervened were Daguza and Gilboa (which was a crowning moment of awesome, btw, made me squeal). What you're talking about sounds more like GaoGaiGar FINAL Grand Glorious Gathering, when Betterman makes an out-of-nowhere cameo in the final episode.

Shot in the dark, does anyone know where I can preorder the blu-ray without paying upwards $100 clams?

I've been searching EVERYWHERE, but the prices range from $70-$100 :S And supposedly Bandai wants to "stop piracy". Huh.J-Lead wrote:Shot in the dark, does anyone know where I can preorder the blu-ray without paying upwards $100 clams?

Re: The Official Gundam Unicorn Anime Thread Mk V
Unfortunate that it wasn't the case, really. I did a double take myself on that part, and was a little dissapointed when I realized they were just Banagher's eyes.schwarz ritter wrote:Aneheim Engineer wrote:Just finished episode 5...

Amuro cameo at that point would have been awesome. Would have confirmed his supposed status as KIA, but still would have been thematically appropriate. Char and Amuro always were going on about how Lalah's ghost never seemed to leave orbit, always haunting them. Would have made perfect sense that Amuro's spirit would come back to aid Banagher and the rest. Especially considering the obvious visual callback to the Axis psycoframe event.
Or rather, the "Axis Shock", as I think I heard Martha Vist-Carbine call it. Also nice to know that there's some sort of in-universe name for that event.

Re: The Official Gundam Unicorn Anime Thread Mk V
True story. The entire uc timeline has been based on the newtype. The fact that bright made a comment to a picture of amuro and told banagher that all gundam pilots were essentially destined to greatness... Too bad I was seeing what I wanted to not the actual movie... Sigh
Re: The Official Gundam Unicorn Anime Thread Mk V
I think Amuro appearing doing that scene would have been grossly out of place. The shots of his picture, comments made by Bright, those are more then sufficient. But during Banagher's climactic moment where he's fully mastering Unicorn, deepening his newtype awareness, and uniting both ships that have helped him. Amuro had no place in that scene. None at all. This is Bangher's story, Amuro's is, thus far, over. Banagher has no connection to him other then they both pilot gundams.

Thanks. Now time for a second Gundam Unicorn marathon, hehe
