Re: Episode 28 - Passage to Tartarus

OOC: Have to wait on the my Titans characters as they are stuck ATM.

- Bindra Team -

"There's no way to get control of Gryps back that doesn't end in a mess. But I read you. Everybody TRY to keep your head during this one, and--".

The area ahead of them was quickly filled with streaks of beam fire from the Mudra team. Nikolai knew it was now only a matter of minutes till the Bindra team would directly engage the enemy that was approaching. This wouldn't be the first time, so the jitters of anticipation weren't running through his mind. He knew they'd have to keep a cool head and focus on the mission. He'd follow the orders and do his duty.

- Team 2 -

It seemed as though the Axis were using the old quantity over quality method as their Gaza-C's sent a wall of beam fire in Team 2's direction. After the team had evaded them her cannon shot went wide and missed the initial Gaza she'd been aiming for. Sophie again took aim at the lead Gaza-C of the Mudra team and shot another cannon round at it.

- AEUG Team 3 –

Seconds before everything was in place, at least tactically but right now situation started to change very rapidly right after Jacob’s opening salvo. Irene saw the Team 1 dived into the Titans. With her team placement naturally Irene thought to spread out fan-like to cover 1st Team’s flank and back but right now her CO dived into the Hizacks that seemed to chase the Hamburg. Just then one of the Blue Suit started to retaliate against Jacob’s Kanone Dias, producing a byproduct of a spectacular light show nearby. She was about to open fire toward the Hizack when suddenly the newly arrived New Yark Team getting pot shots from distances.

Reoriented her Suit, she to her team, “Something isn’t right about those shots. I couldn’t even detect the source from here!”

And then she radioed, “New Yark Team, keep moving! We’ll provide cover!”

But where? Dammit.. her confidence started to dull.

The barzam was too far for her sensors for few more seconds before finally went into Rick Dias' sensor range and get picked up. “I see you now!” she blurted out while her system automatically relayed targets info to her team. Still a tad too far but she primed her bazooka and went off to that direction as far as she could while keeping distance to the rest of her team. Launching three clay shots from good distances at Leandro’s Barzam or his teammate’s direction.

- Kirov Vicinity -
- Delta Team -

Kyle tracked Leandro's shot keeping an eye out for enemy mobile suits approaching the area and any viable targets within range.

this beats getting up close and--

An incoming alarm blasts around the cockpit while the comp highlighted 3 objects on the monitor. A zoom-in view showed 3 rounds approaching their position.

"Rockets!" Kyle warned Leandro.

Kyle dove further away from the rockets, the minovsky particles clearly having an effect on its homing system at this range. He moved right clearing the Kirov as the rockets flew harmlessly past. Checking his sensors but not seeing where those shots came from, he aims his beam launcher and fires a second shot at the New Yark team.

Re: Episode 28 - Passage to Tartarus

-Bindra team-

The sudden, abrupt halt from Ball shocked her into fearing the worst--begining with Ball's sudden death. It took a moment for Pris' shoulders to drop from her ears, thankful to realize this wasn't the case. "Better" still, she felt, Axis and the AEUG finally began to open fire upon one another, finally.

"This could become such a cluster screw," speaking to herself as she tapped the radar highlighting the tightly packed mass of mobile suits from Axis and AEUG that had closed in on one another before firing. All her team can do for now was sit back and watch, unable to take potshots without risk of friendly fire.
Hmm. Luke, this Gundam reminds me of a puzzle.

Re: Episode 28 - Passage to Tartarus

OOC: There’s some ambiguity about which Gazas, exactly, Paris and Wales are shooting at… so I’m going to assume they’re shooting at the losers from the Kwire :D

IC:
- AEUG 4th Squadron Vicinity -
- Zarm Team -

The four Gazas split into pairs, weaving in opposite directions as one of the Nemos returned fire.

“Heh, that all they got?” murmered Ens. Kelof, one of the junior team members. His attempt to echo his team leader’s earlier bravado was sabotaged by a tremor in his voice: like everyone else in Zarm Team, it was his first time receiving real enemy fire.

“Don’t waste your breath! Shoot back!”

Zarm Team continued their advance, closing in, focusing specifically on Kou’s Nemo which had drawn attention to itself by its sudden breakaway. The Axis team was now now split into twos with a bit of noticeable distance between the pairs as they launched knuckle buster volleys back at Kou.

Re: Episode 28 - Passage to Tartarus

- AEUG 4th Squadron Vicinity -
- New Yark Team -

The red bolt hurtled in from seemingly out of nowhere as New Yark Team advanced to support the Dias teams. Of course Leandro’s attack was from too far away to target any individual units within the team, but they nonetheless juked in various directions out of reflex. This didn’t work for Stamble, however: the beam smashed into his shield at an oblique angle, the force dislodging it from his Nemo’s forearm and sending it hurtling into space.

A voice, tinny and slightly hollow due to Minovsky interference but intelligible nonetheless, from one of the Dervish units came through to them. “New Yark Team, keep moving! We’ll provide cover!”

Hard AE put thumb to forefinger and let out a boisterous “Okaaaay~!” in response.

The unstoppable Sumitani was apparently unfazed by the long-distance attack, increasing his acceleration toward the forward elements of the Titans assault. Dervish Teams 1 and 3 were at the front of the AEUG lines, receiving all of the Titan attention. New Yark Team had an opportunity to disrupt if they came in at the right angle.

And there was an opportunity in a Hizack team that had slightly broken away from the main mass of Barzams and souped-up Marasais, clearly trying to move in for a better angle for follow-up attacks against the Rick Diases.

“Say say SAY~!” Hard AE’s Nemo twisted into a sudden and violent corkscrew as he closed in for the attack, squeezing off three shots in rapid succession against the Hizack up front. Thibaut shifted his Nemo to the left and slightly “above” Hard AE’s MS (albeit with more orthodox maneuvers) and fired a quick double-tap follow-up against the same target.

Stamble, meanwhile, circled right and cycled to a different target before firing. Mart, in the back, leveled his cannon against the Hizack in the rear and fired off a shell as soon as he got a firing solution.

OOC: Specifically they’re taking potshots at Herakles Team - Hard AE and Thibaut at Orsino, Stamble at Criss, Mart at Alex.

We'll be needed soon, Jules thought, sweating slightly in his pilot suit. Just watching the quick flashes of blazing beams was making his adrenaline rush, but only very slightly. The fact that everything in the Second Team's area of space was so quiet compared to the light show in front of him was a little nerve-wracking. But Jules was a soldier, and orders were orders. If the Mandra's mobile suits were going to serve as reserve units, then they would wait until they were needed.

Jules's fingers still twitched on his Gaza's trigger, though. The fact that there were Nemos out there reminded him of the GMs years ago at A Baoa Qu. As silly as he found it, the only reason he wasn't firing on them was because the Nemos' color was wrong...GMs were white, not green. But the resemblance still made him feel angry, and all to ready to use his Gaza's knuckle buster.

Orders were orders, though. And, of course, if the loyal soldiers of the Princess went off and did whatever they wanted, what would that say about Zeon?

"But I'll get one of you." he swore, realizing a little too late that he had said it over an open channel. He chuckled at the thought. How would Brutus respond? Or Grange? Not well, he imagined. At least for Grange.

Brutus chuckled at Jules's outburst. Of course, he said what had to be on everyone's mind. The chance to avenge the fallen and strike back at the earthnoids was right in front of him. He could take his homeland back, once and for all.

"Patience, brother. We've waited for over eight years to crush the enemies of Zeon underneath our boot. A few more moments will more than suffice." In truth, Brutus was just as antsy. But he knew he was placed in command for his strict mental discipline.

If anything, that was the problem with his team. They both had the energy, drive, and ability, but lacked that strong discipline, that unwavering commitment to Lord Ghiren's ideology. And that was the core of Zeon, that which made this war one of righteousness. The Titans had that kind of drive, but only for cruelty and the prevention of progress. Still, Brutus noted that their commitment to their evil made them that much more effective.

The AEUG meanwhile was committed to a different evil- slavery through equality. Yes, by insinuating the glorious spacenoid's equality to the earthnoid scum, they were no better than the Titans. But today both would perish, and Brutus Anavel Peoron would see to it.

Orsino chuckled as he saw the potshots. Crude and loosely organized. Not that hard to dodge at this point. He dipped, ducked, and rolled around them and ooooooh incoming Nemo. Fun. "Step right up..." Orsino punched his speed and set up his shield, ready for a game of mobile suit chicken with AE. "...to die!"

Criss dodged the first shot. She would be ready this time. She slowed her suit down and aimed back at where it came from. Without any fear left in her, she aimed at Stamble and pulled the trigger, firing off a series of well-aimed beam shots.

Marco looked at Orsino rushing to ram the Nemo. well, at the very least he could make it a fair fight. He turned to target the one above the rushing one, Thibaut, and opened fire, just to get its attention.

Kou looked at the incoming Gaza-Cs with trepidation. He wasn't expecting all four to come at him. But at least they split, and at least they weren't piloting giant mobile armors loaded with missiles and I-fields and such. Somehow this still seemed less stressful than Stardust.

Kou drifted off to one side, choosing to take advantage of the ship. He managed to avoid the shots of one pair altogether, and used his shield to block the few he didn't dodge. Kou took advantage of the brief lull to target one specific suit and let out a controlled burst of beam shots before resuming evasive actions.

"Patience, brother. We've waited for over eight years to crush the enemies of Zeon underneath our boot. A few more moments will more than suffice."

A boot?, Jules thought. An army of militarized work suits was the mighty boot of Zeon?

Jules corrected himself quickly; his first impressions of the Gaza, while ranging from doubtful to faithless, had been proven wrong in training drills and practices. The Gaza-C was a fine mobile suit, and certainly better then the Zakus he had piloted in the One Year War. His only gripe was the color, and he would've preferred the drab green of the Zakus of old, but the machine was still a grand piece of work.

Jules tried to relax a little. Brutus Peoron, although he had missed the war and didn't have as much experience as Jules, had proven to have aptitude in leadership. The young man definitely had the discipline and resolve, but Jules worried about not only Brutus's age, but his......special devotion to some heroes of Zeon. Jules had never heard of anyone else changing their middle name to that of the Nightmare of Solomon as a gesture of honor, but Brutus was a good mobile suit pilot. If he survived the crucible of battle, he could probably make a name for himself.

Jules still didn't know what to think about Astor Grange, though. The young pilot was certainly unkempt, and arrogant almost to an extreme, or at least that was Jules's opinion about the guy. But Jules had been more repulsed by the man's attitude on the One Year War. Population control? It had taken all of Jules's strength not to strike the young man. The boys he had fought with at A Baoa Qu hadn't deserved to die, fighting a hopeless last stand against a ruthless horde of white devils.

Jules found his breath was becoming ragged, and worked to slow it down. Even after eight years, he thought grimly, I still can't get over A Baoa Qu.

He took his hands off the Gaza's controls, folding them together, and closing his eyes, trying to find a calm place in his thoughts. If I'm going to be a soldier for the Princess of Zeon..., he thought, slowing his breathing. ...for the daughter of Dozle, then I will have to keep myself strong, no matter what memories may haunt me.

Opening his eyes, Jules looked again at the back and forth exchange of beam fire. The future of Zeon lay before him. He couldn't wait to fight, bleed, and kill for it.

Re: Episode 28 - Passage to Tartarus

- AEUG 4th Squadron Vicinity -
- Kwire Team -

Following slightly behind Zarm Team, Kwire's team leader Ltjg. Emmers was able to observe where the initial action would take place. It also helped in having the time to detect and react to enemy fire which suddenly erupted from above and below the team.

"Evasive maneuvers!" the squad leader yelled out alerting the team to perform whatever necessary precautions it had to do to avoid getting hit. The young leader knew he had to keep his rookie team together and that also meant keeping fear out of their minds, which is funny cause the C.O. himself has never seen battle but has been in military service the longest out of the group.

"Princess Mineva is expecting the best from us! We won't let her down!" Emmers rallies the team. It was a close call for some of the rookies that are now eager to get in the fight. Regrouping and continuing their advance on the Hamburg team the C.O. targets Paris' Nemo which had fired several shots at them.

"So, you wanna take us all on? Attack my target!" he instructed the team. All four knuckle busters firing on Paris' Nemo as they advance closer to the Hamburg.

-Team 2-

Bernard had to suddenly veer left in order to avoid a series of shots while clearing warning lights on the HUD. "I got 6 gazas approaching," he notified the group while firing four shots from his beam pistols at the Mudra group.

Re: Episode 28 - Passage to Tartarus

that got their attention, trask thought as the hizacks ceased their advance towards the hamburg team, as if on cue the new yark team opened fire on the offending mobile suits, satisfied with the development he opened a comm to irene as she sent a few rockets off at what could only just be identified as barzams the distance

"Kawamura, save your ammo and wait till they're closer, there's no way they can be hit at this distance." out of the corner of his eye he saw one of the hizacks prepare to charge at Hard AE's Nemo, knowing how...uniquely skillful sumitani was trask couldn't decide whether the enemy in question was mighty brave or mighty stupid.

"hey ingleshard, theres a titan in front of us who apparently has a deathwish. oblige him. Kawamura stay close, lets try and herd the others"

closing the comm trask lined up the beam cannons and opened fire again, taking care to make sure none of the nemos were in his line of fire

-

"can do" was all wales said in reply as he drew a beam pistol, as he took aim he found himself briefly mesmerized by the maneuvroes Hard AE was pulling off in his nemo

"how does he bloody well do that?" he muttered to himself as he shook his head and concentrated, firing off a few tightly grouped double taps while advancing

--

-Hamburg team-

paris let out a cry of surprise as she worked hard to avoid the return fire from the kwire team, several of the shots passing way too close for comfort despite her best efforts against such an onslaught, a few of the shots clipping the shield, skirt and shoulder armour

snarling she veered out of their line of fire, and opened up again, sweeping the barrel across the kwire team before focusing her attack on the lead mobile suit

(OOC: to clarify just in case, wales is shooting at orsino, trask is firing in criss' and alex's direction, and paris is shooting at Ltjg Emmers)

Re: Episode 28 - Passage to Tartarus

-Mudra Team-

The Rick Dias team scattered in the face of the fire the Mudra team laid out, only to quickly return fire from several different angles with several different weapons. The group of Gaza-C's, all in mobile armor form, spread out into a thin line to avoid the fire, but was not entirely successful as the last burst of beam pistol fire melted away one of Ensign Koe's claws.

"Transform and move in," Smith, the team leader, managed to remain calm. Thus far, it wasn't much different than training. Koe didn't want to risk further damage, but the other five pink suits quickly converted into their mobile suit form and pressed in.

More by accident than design, the Mudra teams pressed their targets in pairs. Amecas and Raymont moved to engage the lower pair of Marvin and Sophie, firing steadily if inaccurately. Pamnell and Weghoz banked sharply to their right to deal with Bernard's suit and raced to full speed, each letting loose a single wild shot. Smith and Koe, still in mobile armor form, bored in on Eckardy's Rick Dias, the former holding his fire while the latter unloaded as fast as his knuckle buster could fire and raced in.

Re: Episode 28 - Passage to Tartarus

-Team 2-

Cowboy found himself with Sophie as the Axis unit shifted formation and suddenly a pair of Gaza-C's were filling the area around them with beam fire. Marvin moved downward and to his left again to avoid most of the fire, unintentionally shifting further away from Sophie's C-Type, and quickly ripping off a trio of rockets from the bazooka in his right hand and simultaneously a pair of shots from the beam pistol he carried in the left.

Eckardy muttered a curse as a pair of the transformable suits came at him, a mobile suit hanging behind a mobile armor that was spraying beam fire at him. Eckardy flipped his Rick Dias Custom's body on it's side and stepped on the thrusters to race to his left, quickly clearing the bulk of fire coming from Koe, rapidly firing shots in the direction of both machines from his beam rifle and pistol almost as quickly (And hastily aimed) as the mobile armor had.

Re: Episode 28 - Passage to Tartarus

Jacob was not the least bit surprised that his shots missed. His targets were simply too far away. It would have been luck more than his own skill or the abilities of his targeting computer if he would have actually hit anything.

Of course, the same was true in return. Two of the Blue Devils that were approaching fired back but they had as little chance of hitting him as he had of hitting them. He saw the beams coming from what felt a mile away and neither would have hit him dead center. It was relatively easy to juke to the right to avoid both beams.

He surged forward as the enemy drew closer. They were quickly getting close enough where an attack would have a legitimate chance of striking a telling blow.

"Easy, son. Keep calm and carry on. Don't loose your head," the hand on his shoulder calmed him and Jacob fought down the fury that was rising in him and clogging the back of his throat.

He took a deep breath, clearing his head. He wasn't going to let the enemy off too easily, though. He shifted his Mobile Suit tracking the incoming blue suits and locking in on one of them. He squeezed the triggers for the shoulder cannons, holding them down until two blasts had been fired from each one at one of the prototypes.
Yep...That's Texas in a nutshell. Why just say "f**k you" when you can put it on a flag?

Picking up the rear Alex weaved around the shots that harassed him and the rest of his team, frowning at how it felt like a shooting gallery and how they were the targets. With Orsino playing daredevil and Marco and Criss trading fire with the other Nemos, Alex set his sights on the straggler in the rear.

A straggler with a cannon he didn't want hanging around.

Gaining speed, the Hizack pushed past his Marco and Criss, actually starting to gain on the already charging Orsino as it took aim and opened fire with a burst from its machinegun at Mart's Nemo Cannon.

With the Zarm team engaging Nemos Ltjg. Emmers looked for an opening to hit the Salamis Kai but that one Nemo seems to be making things difficult.
Quickly changing to mobile armor, Emmers fired his verniers and spun sideways and back letting Paris' fire go past, the heat of the passing beam scorching his suit.

It concerned him how hard the outnumbered Nemo was resisting. Keeping the thought of whether he was facing a veteran or a newbie out of his mind, he decided that it's best not to split up their forces.

"Ens. Moore, form up with me! Aldrich! Kell! Watch our backs! Now lets take care of this pest."

Both Emmers and Moore advance on Paris. Ens. Moore in mobile suit mode fires wildly from his knuckle buster while Ltjg. Emmers takes aim and fires from above with his twin guns.

- Iota Team -

Lt. Grant watched the action begin as the Aeug and Axis opened up at each other and was about to order his squad to engage when his sensors picked up a larger object. He approached at full speed to get a better look and confirm what he thought was there.

Grant's eyes lit up and immediately hits his comm, "Buxoro, hang back and cover our left flank. Iota will hit that transport ship." Again Grant takes off at full speed while Jason has no choice but to follow and wait for a way out. The last thing he wanted to do was engage in combat.

As soon as Iota team gets in range all three Marasai open fire on Refit Transport ship #1

Astor sat at attention, drawing a in a circular motion on a free spot in the Gaza-C's cockpit, penning out a snake biting onto it's own tail. Symbolism was everything, as people made symbols they could self actualize ideas and come to understand natural truths more, while having to deal with arbitrary Zeon nationalist propaganda he felt comfort in some of the antediluvian symbols of Earth, so many years past now.

"Perhaps when this is all over,I'll be able to return to earth, but could a Zabi regime be that much better?, sure the Zeon ideology addresses the baseline issues of democracy, which has rotted this world from inside out, but is a monarchy of ascribed status any better?" he thought to himself. He tried not to let out too many of his thoughts when with the other men on his team, he could see the anger they held at allot of the earlier statements he had made, while training and preparing for this day."Perhaps i should stick to small talk, last thing i need is some purposeful misfire from an ally", he chuckled to himself quietly.

"A boot to the skulls of the incompetent earthnoids?, as well as the petty AEUG?, i think i can get behind that myself", Astor laughed. " If it's true that Casval Deikun is among the AEUG, i would hope that he could come to his senses and take his rightful seat underneath Minerva, a newtype like that is one that should be steering the world in the right direction, not latching on to poorly thought out, and overly sentimental fringe movements like the AEUG".

Jules couldn't help but smile at Grange's comment. While he barely understood Grange and his beliefs, he could guess that Grange was either trying to make small talk, or was trying to brown nose Brutus by praising his comment about Zeon being a mighty boot.

Grange's comment on Casval was interesting, though, especially since he had used the man's real birth name. Almost everybody Jules had talked to always called the man by his One Year War moniker, Char Aznable, or his infamous nickname, the Red Comet. Its very interesting that you always use his real name, Jules thought.

"Remember, of course, that this isn't the first time that a Newtype was fooled into following the wrong path. The pilot of the White Devil was a Newtype, and yet he fought against the ideals of Deikun, the man who predicted his existence in the first place" Jules said.

He wondered if discussing such things would be okay with Brutus, and how Grange would respond. Perhaps not well for either of them. But if the last Zabi was in danger, then Jules would do everything in his power to keep the Princess safe. It was his duty. And no soldier ever abandoned his duty.
