Thanks for the shout-out man. Great show as always.
Only just watched Thor so that may be weighting this opinion but it seemed to be my favorite. It was epic in the true sense. And so quotable. In summery, "This film, I like it! ANOTHER!"

I too am of the opinion that there was too much expectation placed on Captain America. I enjoyed it immensely and can take it for a great origin. Plus, like Soul Bro, I'm a sucker for period pieces. Especially anything 40s and 50s.

X-men: First Class was another great one. It was probably my least favorite of the three, but not by much. I loved Magneto and Shaw's interactions but I also thought that Xavier wasn't totally overshadowed. He had some good moments.

Anyway, thanks as always. Good to hear from Sho, Lee and The Wonder (a.k.a. Lord Shot a.k.a. Joey Gash...) again as well as the constant voices of Neo, Chris and Soul Bro.

EDIT: Oh, and the reason that I haven't put words in on Green Lantern and Cowboys & Aliens is because I saw the trailers and knew better.
3,000,000,000 points. I can almost taste the brownies.

I don't really watch movies so it was great to hear back to back to back reviews! X-Men First Class is the one that sounds the most interesting to me, though I keep reading reviews about how weird it is that they never talk about the civil rights movement even though the movie is supposed to happen in 1962.

Unfortunately I haven't seen any of these movies, but it was great to hear the FTS cast discuss their thoughts on them. I'm glad Green Lantern tanked, that movie looked horrible! The story looked weak, acting wooden and CG: not particularly impressive.
Hope you guys keep bringing out episodes.

Wanted to say really enjoyed the episode, I'm not surprised in some ways Green Lantern earned some ire from most people, but to me it was ok.

Cowboys and Aliens sounds plain boring and lackluster and more avoidable then Green Lantern.

I was kind of surprised Neo and Sho weren't getting Cap's personnality,
I do see what they mean though.
But to me him rescuing his friend Bucky and 400 POWs was inspirational and touching stuff.

Thor and Captain America come close to tying in 1st place for me but I liked Thor just a little more overall due to the character drama and depth and how they relate each other between Loki, Thor and Odin.

Also the movie had this Lord of the Rings like element feeling to it.

X-Men comes in second place.

But here are my opinions.

Chris Hemmsworth IS Thor.
Tom Hiddleston was an awesome Loki and very much was the god of mischief.

It's very well done in terms of the effects, it's well character driven and development between Thor, Loki and Odin and it worked the right way all in all.

Also it was kind of sad that Loki went from at times trying to kill Thor to not letting Odin die by the Frost Giants hands, because Odin treated him better then Gaffrey

X-Men First Class:
Enjoyed this one, I will say there were 1-2 weaker cast members, like Angel, Emma Frost and the guy who did Beast.
As much as people hate Last Stand Kesley Grammer IS Beast

Professor X, Magneto and Sebastian Shaw are the standouts for this one.
I did enjoy the story side to Magneto and Professor X.

Captain America:
Chris Evans was a good Captain America but Hugo Weaving really seemed like the Red Skull very much so, I don't agree with Sho's opinion of his performance being dialled in.
I liked seeing Steve develop and become Captain America.

I do agree with Neo on the point of the plane crash being a bit drawn out, but I disagree on his portrayl not living up to the comic version, as was said in the X-Men segment later on.
If you want to see Sebastian depicted the way in the comics go read up there, it's the same deal for Captain America the biggest piece of evidence being his uniform.
It doesn't mean in time he wont grow or do more inspirational stuff in time.

Green Lantern:
I felt it was hard for it to compete with Marvel's movie entires this year thus far really.

And Sinestro putting on the yellow ring to me was like him submitting to fear and that side instead of the power of will and as being one of the Green Lanterns.

I admit the final fight with Parallax was too short, but they need to use CGI for lots of elements for the Green Lantern's power.

The top gun esque sequences didn't really bother me overly much.

So to summarize my ranking of the movies.
Captain America
X-Men First Class
Green Lantern

It was good to hear from the Wonder, Shouji Ramuro and Lee Majors alongside the usual Gundamn team.
Anyway that is all I'm saying on that stuff for now.

So far I've only seen Thor (ANOTHER!) and Captain America, intend to see First Class from the good words about it.

I liked Thor a bit more than Capt', simply because it was amusing to see Thor be well...Thor on Earth. He was quite a character, cocky, proud, arrogant, hilarious, and so on, though I do agree for the most part that his development was WAY too rushed. Personally, I think it could've worked if they saved some of that for the Avengers movie and later Thor movies.

Captain America I liked as well...but not as much as Thor. Though Steve Rogers did go through a nice progression to becoming Captain America, I feel that if he had that power even before going into the military or what not, he would've done the same exact thing. The main issue that I have with this movie is not how the characters are portrayed (I WANT A HOWARD STARK MOVIE!!!!!) but rather the ending...I could deal with the plane crash, I can deal with him being frozen, but just the ending of him waking up and ending the movie with 'I missed my date' instead of more of a 'WHAT THE F*** ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT' just seemed kinda...lackluster.

I love listening to a podcast with the Shinjuku super crew.

I'll echo my thoughts on Capt America. I really liked Chris Evans' acting as a scrawny Steve Rodgers. He was determined and I could sympathize with him and his struggle.

once he turned into Capt America...I stopped caring and no longer sympathized.

Loved the eps guys! Kinda wish you make it a more regular thing, but I understand how hard it it is to get the band back together each time.

The only movies if seen are Thor (ANOTHER!!) and Captain America, which I thought was a solid movie. As a British guy, I pretty much expected the "USA F*** YEAH!" propaganda engine from the film considering the time period it was set in, and to be honest I'm glad they didn't go over the top in making Steve Rogers the "all American hero".

Don't get me wrong, I realise that is kinda what Cap is about, but time has moved on that such a 2 dimensional portrayal of the character would run the risk of falling flat with non-American viewers around the world considering recent events.

What the writers ultimately did was focus on showing us a more noble and selfless man from humble beginnings who despite gaining super powers didn't allow it to cloud his judgement and change who he was inside. His only desire is to protect the innocent, bring people from different backgrounds together, and use his powers to make a difference to the world, and not trying to shove more American propaganda down our throats.

If they had done, it would ultimately hurt the film and make the upcoming Avengers movie a mere vehicle for more USA d*** stroking. For me, a super hero should be cool and interesting even if they lose their powers, not because of them.

Loved the use of the "There are FOUR lights!" scene from TNG at the end there!

I'm about half way through the reviews and so far I am enjoying them. Not agreeing with them though. I very much so enjoyed cowboys and aliens. Not enough to own but it really surprised me. Green Lantern was a great movie, that is movie wise. The only problem I had with it was the Elders guys being all immortal and stuff which was a little too blasphemous for me.

Good ep, I really love how it feel like a good old Flip the Script ep. I like the Fourth Wall Beakers in the ep like cup breaking, love that stuff. I hope to hear more very soon.

Been hoping for another SSATM and am quite delighted to have a return!

Great to hear from some of the former fts cast and (hopefully) still current level nine. Sho's always entertaining.

I only saw x-men and cowboys & Aliens, and well Priest but unfortunately you didn't comment on that here, as horrible as that was to see, no one else was in the theatre so me and the group I went with just riffed on the thing. So that wasn't bad. Maybe a priest episode in the future? Even though I wouldn't recommend seeing it? :P

As far as cowboys & aliens? I literally expected nothing, and I got what I wanted, just an entertaining time. I wouldn't mind seeing it again if a friend wanted to check it out, but I wouldn't go out of my way to see it again.

X-men was fantastic, and really rekindled my desire to see the x-men films (I came in on the third, killing my desire to see any of the others but was dragged to this one).

Anyways, hope to see some more of SSATM and level nine in the future!
