Gryps II Space

"Understood, sir." Marco shifted his Hizack a bit so he fell into formation with Alex. Criss caught on, and moved into position too. Orsino didn't notice.

Where are you...

"Thinking of going off on your own again?" Marco's voice made Orsino snarl.

"No sir." Damn him, breaking my train of thought... He shifted his Hizack to be at the spearhead of the formation.

"Didn't think so." Marco turned to Alex. "So Sir, what's the target?"

Hamburg
-Launching

"Understood sir." Kite walked his Nemo over to the catipult and set up after Paris launched. Once he got teh green light he braced himself inteh cockpit and tensed up as the force of launchign hit him. He formed up on Lt. Uraki's flank. His eyes glancing over to Paris' unit... More so hoping she was ok. But the other part of his mind was wondering about the other guy. If it were upto Kite he wouldn't be launching. too much of a liability in combat.

Aside frmo that his mind wondered about the blue mobile suit. His blood boiled and his heart raced. "That speedy bastard is mine," he muttered out loud.

Hamburg space

"Ensign Ishma, you will stay in formation. Do not engage the blue suit unless he comes for you." Kou's voice was harsh, but firm. He didn't need or want any more blood on his hands. "Same goes for the rest of you. Let the Rick Dias teams handle that guy, we're more suited for taking on the grunts."

He moved his Nemo into a defensive stance, with the shield and rifle at the ready. "The blue guys are just the spearhead of the fleet. The main force should be coming up soon. We'll wait for either them or for an order from the captain to attack. In the mean time, just stick with the ship and be ready to provide supporting fire." The waiting game wasn't Kou's favorite. But then again, neither was a suicidal charge against a superior opponent.

Re: Episode 28 - Passage to Tartarus

- Gryps 2 Space -

- The Dervish -
- Bridge -

"MS on their way out, captain..." Jungst reported, pausing as Fritz and Celeste's Rick Diases rocketed away from the bow of the ship, "Axis is getting frisky,". Some probing fire from the Mudra and its primary escorts was raking its way closer to the 4th as a small cloud of Gazas began their push forward to test the AEUG defenses. "Axis is getting frisky?" the incredulous captain silently mouthed to Jane, who stifled a laugh. Abbey shook his head with a small smirk and ordered, "Keep the catapults cycling until everyone's out there...". He looked at the situational display above the main line of operators' stations and drummed his fingers for a moment as he considered what Axis was likely to do with the Titans directly involved in the action. They had stood their ground as best they could during Maelstrom when that Titans unit had stumbled into the fray, but this time they had the option of tactical withdrawal and repositioning open to them right off the bat.

He frowned a bit. The AEUG had taken the colony laser and now they were stuck in the unenviable position Axis had held. "Divert Team 2 to intercept those Zeon mobile suits, and tell Capt. Loweno to have his team do so as well," Carl commanded, "Everyone else, keep the Titans off of us,". He'd wait and see exactly what the enemy had in mind before the fleet would turn too far away from the Titans. "Sir," Jane spoke up, waiting until she had Capt. Abbey's full attention, "The Radish is sending the word out that the Jupitris seems to be moving directly to oppose them..."

- The Hamburg -
- Bridge -

"It's nothing yet. Those big pieces of garbage the Zekes call warships aren't close enough to singe my eyebrows," Loweno said, blowing off the opening shots from the Axis unit closing in on the 4th. "Indeed," Lt. Stalvern said, his attention focused on looking over the shoulder of the comm operator to read the incoming message from the flagship. He straightened up and turned back to the captain (who was still talking to nobody about Axis' ineffective efforts to hit the ship) to convey the order, "Sir, Capt. Abbey has directed you to send the Nemo unit against Axis. They'll be supporting the Dervish's Team 2 to feel out the enemy,".

The captain perked up upon hearing that and considered it for a moment with a grin. "Normally I'd be a bit disappointed at being sent at a soft target, but I'll take it. These Zekes can be dangerous but this should be a good test of our MS team,".

- Al -

Alfred had squeezed his eyes shut and willed away the nausea and headache that came with the launch of his Nemo behind Kite's. He regretted not asking the doctor for some aspirin before leaving sick bay, but managed to ignore most of the throbbing in his temples. "I'm here," he checked in quietly as Kou began to warn them about staying together. "...we're more suited for taking on the grunts. The blue guys are just the spearhead of the fleet. The main force should be coming up soon. We'll wait for either them or for an order from the captain to attack. In the mean time, just stick with the ship and be ready to provide supporting fire," Uraki said, his Nemo taking up the same old GM fighting posture as the rest of the team.

The control officer from the ship broke in shortly after Kou stopped speaking to relay their orders. After explaining that they were to follow Eckardy's team to meet Axis halfway, he warned, "Most of these Zeon pilots are total rookies with minimal flight time, but don't let your guard down - they're almost always led by combat veterans from the One Year War, and a lucky shot from some kid's beam rifle is just as deadly as any other." "Good hunting, everyone. Don't disappoint Capt. Loweno or he'll take it out on the bridge crew," the operator joked before closing the connection.

- Team 1 -

Fritz and Celeste had boosted away from the flagship first, and they spiraled into a nascent formation to wait on Michiko and Jacob. Fritz grimaced as his computer wasted no time and began to pick out distant shapes and label them as Titans vessels. None of their MS were close enough yet to be identified individually but Fritz could already see dozens of smaller thruster flares with the naked eye, and a popup display zoomed in on one of the groups to show a blurry shot of what appeared to be Marasais on the move. "They're sending Eddie's team after Axis," Celeste said, and Fritz craned his neck to glance back in the directon of the 4th. He turned back to his forward view to adjust his speed and course and muttered flatly, "Why does he get all the fun jobs?". He saw Michiko's IFF signal leave the Dervish and moved slightly closer to Angelina to tighten up as they advanced.

Re: Episode 28 - Passage to Tartarus

- Gryps 2 Space -

- The Bindra -
- Bridge -

Capt. Wald impatiently crossed his arms to stop fidgeting as he watched Finalan's unit slowly advance towards the small group of AEUG ships. M'Quve had made it clear that, for the time being, the Trammel sub-unit would be held in reserve while the Mudra made the first attack. Pizal had the feeling that M'Quve wanted them to draw fire from the Titans first in addition to using Finalan to size up the AEUG, but he kept his mouth shut. His own Gaza-C team was in the process of launching, using the outgoing fire from the Mudra detachment for cover. "The Mandra is launching her mobile suits, sir. No change in orders yet," Vada reported, changing one of the monitors near his station to show Bacon's MS team departing. "What is he up to now?" the captain muttered. He had deployed his own pilots to protect the ship, but Rudd wasn't known for trigger discipline...

- Ball -

Lt. Ball slowed up, remaining in MA mode as he waited for the entire team to leave the ship. While Finalan's people moved forward to get into whatever trouble was waiting for them, he'd have the Bindra team take station behind their MS to protect the ships and give them some cover should they need to rapidly fall back. The AEUG or Titans alone didn't overly concern him, but as soon as they were both drawn into combat around that enemy fleet things would get nasty. He could feel a bead of sweat rolling down his brow already.

Re: Episode 28 - Passage to Tartarus

- Dolk -

Lt. Dolk's Griffin slowed down for just half a moment as he hefted the suit's huge beam rifle and scanned the newly highlighted arrivals the computer called his attention to. Unidentified AEUG mobile suits that were still far enough away that they were bracketed in a box that was just large enough to have the black of space showing inside its lines. He glanced to his right and made a mental note of the large line of Axis ships moving towards his general destination. They'd be nice big targets if he were to work his way closer. And a three-way battle is a nice way to cover up personal business.

- Wolf -

"Sir, are we supposed to be on the move already?" Daren asked, preemptively kicking himself for bringing Ritter's attention to him any more than he had to. The only other unit that was moving forward as rapidly as their team appeared to be Alpha. He was worried enough about Wolf's behavior that he wanted to simply follow behind him at a safe distance, staying in a useful support position where he had a good view. Wolf's mobile suit slowed, coming closer to Daren and Sven. "This is just us now, Daren. This is me," Wolf answered, his voice sounding hoarse and low, "Even if I die this is not the end. They underestimate us,". "Y-yes sir," Nwosu answered.

Re: Episode 28 - Passage to Tartarus

-The Dervish-
-Hangar-

Eddie sat in the cockpit, drumming his hands on the side of the control sticks as Team 1 moved forward to the catapults and were launched off the ship. As Michiko's Rick Dias stepped onto the catapult before him, Jane's face appeared in his monitor. "Eddie..."

"Hey, baby!" Eddie half screamed in a knowingly bad mimic of one of his songs, which earned him a quick grin.

"We have Axis mobile suits moving in from port. The captain wants you and the Hamburg team to intercept."

Eckardy frowned. "How many?"

"We don't know, looks like a few teams worth at the moment," Jane admitted.

"Well s***," Eddie forced a smile and winked, "Thanks honey." Jane smiled back before cutting the connection, while Eddie switched to the Team 2 channel as he stepped onto the catapult. "Hey kids, we've got Axis goons inbound from port. Form up on me, we meet up with the Hamburgers and then we kick some Zeke ass, no offense Bernie!" Eddie gave them all a wide grin before switching to the launch channel. "Eckardy, Dias. Fire!" The lights went green and his Rick Dias Custom was sent away from the ship.

Behind him, Marvin was less enthusiastic as Eddie appeared as he watched the catapult cycle back to his spot. They were on the port catapult, and he could see the distant lights that were the Axis ships. The MS weren't visible to him yet, which was something good...

His suit was locked into place and the lights began to flash. "Marvin Hamilton. Rick Dias-C-Custom. Launching." Marvin winced at himself, nearly forgetting to properly call out what type of suit he was. He barely remembered that this infamous machine was supposed to be better than the already superb Rick Dias, and in the brief moment before the catapult fired, his mind wandered as he tried to remember why it was they even had to identify their mobile suits at all...

As soon as he was clear of the ship, Cowboy wheeled to his left and saw Eckardy's own Rick Dias Custom, now slightly ahead and above where he was. Eddie was moving along slowly so the rest of the team could catch up, which Marvin did, taking position a suitable distance to Eddie's left, waiting for Sophie and Bernard to join them.

Re: Episode 28 - Passage to Tartarus

-Kalinin Team-

Bate's enjoyment of merely flying was long gone. As Echo's warships opened fire on the distant AEUG, the Kalinin team had to adjust their own patrol pattern, but that hadn't made things easier. On their first orbit of the fleet, Sunoue had dipped too low and would have been killed, but at least the kid was lucky, as it was during the brief moments when Kirov was between volleys. The next time around, Bate took them below the fleet, figuring that the pilots were smart enough to stay low. It worked for a few minutes, only to have Craig's Hizack bob up and nearly hit the underside of the Kalinin on one pass. He hadn't, and perhaps more importantly, Nguyen hadn't noticed, although Parker on the sub-bridge had.

At that point, Bate put an end to the formations. Now, they just floated in a strung out line below Echo's formation, and Bate wasn't even sure if there was another team doing top cover. The buzzing of his radio stirred him from his own thoughts.

"Yeah?"

Parker's face appeared on the video screen, slightly interrupted by small amounts of Minovsky caused static. "Why're you guys just hanging around?" He smirked.

"Call it fuel saving. I don't want these idiots flying into something," Bate snorted, telling Parker of Sunoue nearly being hit by the fire from the warships.

"Wonderful. In case you didn't know, the AEUG and Axis forces are deploying suits, so be ready for incoming units."

"Thanks, Greg." Bate muttered, not happy with the idea of leading these pilots into combat.

"Well, hopefully those Kirov nuts will keep 'em away. We'll keep you posted," Parker concluded with a nod, which Bate returned before the screen went dark. He glanced to both sides to make sure the team was still in place, which they were. The three rookies weren't too close to the ships, or each other, and they had their machine guns pointed away from everything, less one of them accidently unload a burst of 120's. Bate was surprised it hadn't happened already...

Re: Episode 28 - Passage to Tartarus

- Team 1 -

"Ltjg. Jacob Markado, MSA-099 Kanone Dias, Launch!" Jacob exclaimed in the traditional way as he mounted the launch catapult. A moment later, he was thrown back into his seat as he was shot out of the relatively safe harbor of the Dervish and out into the cold, merciless, killer filled void of space.

Fritz and Celeste had already formed up and it took Jacob only a few moments to join his squadmates. Michiko had already launched as well and they full team would be united and ready in moments.

Jacob took up a position at the back of the formation. Not out of fear of their opponents but because his suit was designed to play a support role. He could most effectively stay back and give his teammates supporting fire.

"I've got your back guys. Let's make sure this laser never falls into the hands of the Titans so they can never terrorize anyone with it."

He felt surprisingly calm. Of course, he was not certain of the outcome of this battle, and he knew how important it was. This battle could decide the war. But he had faith in his team and in his fleet. They would not waiver.

- Bindra Team -

"Haha! Too slow, Nikolai!" Djorn exclaimed when he had won their game of "shotgun." The other pilot would not have to wait long, though. Djorn was so eager to fight that he practically launched on top of Pris. In fact, when they got out of the hangar, he had to turn sharply to avoid colliding with her. He covered the foible by sliding further out to take up a flanking position.

"Yes, Ma'am!" he replied to Pris's orders. He was a glory hound, but the glory of Axis, not himself. He would do whatever it took to ensure that Axis won this battle, even if that meant double and triple teaming enemy units.

"Let's show them what we've got! They may have better units. They may have more experienced pilots. They may have better positioning on the battlefield, but we have something they don't. We have pride and determination and a winning spirit! We can't lose."
Yep...That's Texas in a nutshell. Why just say "f**k you" when you can put it on a flag?

Kite sighed and shook his head. "...yes'sir." He growled to himself as orders came in. "Axis huh? ....guess I'll just pray for the blue suit to show up then," he muttered to himself as he held formation with Lt Uraki's Nemo. "By your lead." With those words the Nemo added a slight hitch to its shoulder as the shield shifted forward. The way he saw it, the two AEUG teams would take a run at the Axis forces to size them up. Judging by their numbers the group would need some good piloting to make it through.

- Team 3 -

Monotonous beep kept sounding as each new unit arrived and being registered by Rick Dias' targeting system. Some were friendly like Wales, her own team mate that just launched from the Dervish, some other were units still far away for clear ID but tagged as hostile. As she checked the details over the hostile unit, she heard the command to the second team being relayed.

“Axis is already hostile by now? I guess it’s going to be an open war right from the start,” Irene commented bluntly to the friendly channel. Then she watched with uneasy feeling as the second team banked left and gone in different direction along with Hamburg’s Team.

A warning sign catch her attention and she spotted few red target brackets already going hot into their relative position. She eased her throttle and formed up with the rest of her team. “What do you think, are they going to fight us first or jump straight to the ship?”

-Team 3-

gritting his teeth as he felt the now familiar lurch of acceleration of a mobile suit catapult launch, wales did a quick scan off the area as he took up position near irene's dias, trask showed up a short second later, already priming the beam cannons in preparation to fire.

“Axis is already hostile by now? I guess it’s going to be an open war right from the start,” Irene commented bluntly to the friendly channel.

"ugh, those guys again? zekes just can't take a hint." wales complained, trask shook his head

"let team 2 and the hamburgs nemos deal with axis unless ordered otherwise" trask replied, immediately taking charge until wes arrived, which he hoped would be soon, as he could already see several titans suits closing in. quickly.

“What do you think, are they going to fight us first or jump straight to the ship?” asked irene on the team channel

"don't know" trask admitted "personally i'd rather we shoot them down before we find out what order of preference they have for killing us."

- AEUG 4th Squadron Vicinity -
- Alpha Team -

Mobile suits streamed out of the AEUG warships in response to the Echo offensive. Stukov glanced right at the suggestion of HUD indicators. “Axis is here…”

Without breaking his advance toward the AEUG formation, he relayed orders to the rest of the Echo MS teams. “Iota Team will break right and interfere with the AEUG and Zeon encounter. Buxoro Team supports.”

Shortly afterward, with his Griffin rapidly closing in on the AEUG ships, Stukov fired a beam rifle shot at the Irish-class in the back to announce his presence to the enemy MS that were already advancing to meet the Titans units. He would let them come and be killed at their leisure.

- Nunavut Team 1 -

The three MG-toting Hizacks of Nunavut’s Team 1 zipped by Kirov’s Gamma Team, which had apparently slowed down.

“What do you think’s going on with those guys, commander?”

“I really don’t want to think about it, Chandekar,” team leader Ltjg. Iarocci replied flatly, “You’ve heard the scuttlebutt about the Taskforce Echo pilots. If even half of it’s true then I’d rather keep my distance from them and ask no questions.”

“Understood.”

The Hizacks continued on, closing in behind Beta Team.

Mart joined up with the rest of New Yark Team, his Nemo Cannon having been the last to launch. Mega particle shots from both sides streamed all around him, and from a distance both Titans and Axis mobile suits were steadily closing in. Processing this information made Mart oblivious to the pounding heart in his chest and the heaviness of his own breathing.

For a moment a streak of beam fire different from ship to ship mega particle shots launched into the Dervish. The beam caught Irene’s attention and her eyes following her instinct trained into one particular spot. There are Hizacks and Marasais nearby but trusting her feeling she keep looking for a different Suit on that location. Only then the targeting system found another target with a familiar code name.

"It's the blue suit," she reported excitedly. "Shall we engage? I’d love to personally take a piece of that blasted suit and planted it on the Balrampur."

Re: Episode 28 - Passage to Tartarus

- Gamma Team -

"Whoa, hold up for a moment," Nick had ordered them

Aaron wasn't sure why the team was slowing down at first, but then it quickly became clear: Beta Team was moving out with them and it was against orders. A quick tingle went up his spine as he tried to figure out what to do. This seemed like the moment he had been dreading. For now he'd have to stay with the team though, couldn't peal away without the confusion of Beta's attack.

- Buxoro Team -

Tim launched hot on the heals of Vladimir and fell in line with the team.

“Iota Team will break right and interfere with the AEUG and Zeon encounter. Buxoro Team supports.”

He clicked his tongue at the new orders, "Guess we're not going to anywhere near Aaron."

- The Dervish -
- Hangar -

"Sophie Coggs. C-Type, launching!" The support mobile suit rocketed from the port catapult and quickly caught up to Marvin and Eddie.

"So, we're getting another crack at those Axis goons Eddie," she said as the C-Type maneuvered into its usual place in formation. "Think we could put a few more holes in their ships this time?"

- Bindra Team -

"Haha! Too slow, Nikolai!"

With a grumble Nikolai followed after Djorn on the catapult.

"Djorn, Nikolai, with me if we split in threes."

While Pris may have been the same rank as he and Djorn, she had the edge in experience and that meant she could call the shots.

"Copy that," Nikolai acknowledged, "Working as a team sounds like the best idea anybody has had in a while."
"Kamille, if it wasn't for you...." Jerid's last words

- Team 2 -

Bernard had already launched when he heard the order to rendezvous with the Hamburg team and hit the Axis. Feeling a bit uneasy about engaging the Axis again, his mind raced back to the strange pilot he encountered during their first meeting.

"I've got a bad feeling..."

Maneuvering his Dias B-type to the Hamburg group's 'airspace', he armed both hip launchers. Because of the M-particles in the area it would be a slim chance the rockets would attain their lock for longer than a few seconds so he would have to get in closer for them to be effective.

- Iota Team -

Lt. Allister Grant

“Iota Team will break right and interfere with the AEUG and Zeon encounter. Buxoro Team supports.”

"Roger," Allister replied while taking a glimpse at his monitor. The sensors barely picking up the Axis signatures as his eyes scanned for a possible point of attack.

"Let the AEUG mix it up with the Zekes first then we'll come up at them from underneath. Plow straight through and avoid all contact with their ship."

Allister was not looking forward at getting hit from the Axis anti-aircraft guns.

"Concentrate your fire on the AEUG as they will have the more advanced suits...if the zekes try and hassle you then take them out too." With that said his Marasai broke hard right and dove toward the enemy position.

Ltjg.Jason Drossel

Jason's stomach was in knots after hearing the word to attack both AEUG and Axis forces. He didn't expect to get tangled up so soon. The only relief was that this might cause the confusion they were looking for and give him and Grace a chance to slip out and find neutral forces to surrender to.

Dammit Wes where are you? trask thought impatiently, the space between the two forces was decreasing rapidly and they still weren't upto full combat strength, a beam whizzed past his team, of all the times for something to go wrong-

"It's the blue suit," irene reported excitedly. "Shall we engage? I’d love to personally take a piece of that blasted suit and planted it on the Balrampur."

trask couldn't help but snarl in frustration. thinking franticly as to the best course of action. if we rush out to engage they'l slaughter us, but if we hang back that puts the ships in danger..

"*sigh* negative!" he ordered after a brief pause to compose himself "they're goading us into doing something stupid. advance slowly behind team 1, and let the titans waste propellant comming to us, not the other way round."

Paris had just about had it with kite, ever since the battle at malestrom, whatever good impression he may have made by rescuing her had since been erroded by his attitude, the comments about wishing that blue suit would show up was the last straw

"Kite!" she barked, inwardly surprised at her tone "shut. up. now."

as she tried to calm herself after her outburst paris noticed team 2 approaching them "sir, we have reinforcements, its one of the Rick Dias teams from the Dervish" she informed kou

Heyden was all business, the veteran pilot knew exactly what he was doing as he was flying so close to Stukov's Griffin he could read the warning labels scattered along the suit with ease. Heyden wasn't studying the warning labels, he was going to keep himself hidden as long as he could.

It didn't seem it would be much longer though.

Kite glared over at Paris' Nemo before glancing over at the Rick Dias. "Well forgive me princess, but you didn't see all your friends get blown to stardust so forgive me for saying kiss my ass," he muttered as his Nemo moved a little further ahead. "I'm carving my name into that bastards hide." He growled, obviously losing his edge to the rage he had been holding inside since the first encounter with that blue unit. So much to the point that when it was spotted it took all he had to keep from bolting. For the damned thing.
