Re: Neo's News - Listener Submitted Articles

I don't know if this was posted but we all know unicorn comes out oct 30th on psn and sometime in November on Blueray, but I noticed via http://store.bandai-ent.com/ProductDeta ... E&CartID=1 that the date is actually Novemer 12 2010 to be exact for the Blueray release. It is also $10 more than the first volume. Ouch, but I will pay what ever it takes to be honest.

Re: Neo's News - Listener Submitted Articles

In anticipation of the release of Gundam Double O movie "A Wakening of the Trailblazer", Gundam Cafe, which opened in Akihabara in mid April this year is running a special corresponding campaign. For a limited period of time, special menu items and souvenirs related to characters from the movie are offered.

Japan gets another Gundam phone. As impractical It may be (with smart phones being the norm nowadays) it'll be soo cool to have one! I wonder just out of curiosity how well it'll sell if someone was crazy enough *COUGH, COUGH, AT&T, WHEEZE* to put this on the American market. Do I smell a petition? Well anyways here's the link.

Looks like FROM Software & Capcom are producing "Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor" for XBox 360 Kinect, as just revealed just minutes ago from Kotaku at the Tokyo Game Show Microsoft Keynote, covering it live. The world in the game is one "without computers" and appears to have a WWII visual motif despite taking place in 2082. Sounds interesting...

Gundam Character Designer Draws Char

Yoshikazu Yasuhiko in Action
Yoshikazu Yasuhiko joined Osamu Tezuka's Mushi Productions in 1970, where he designed characters for the 1971 anime series Sasurai no Taiyou. He later storyboarded Space Battleship Yamato (known as Star Blazers in the United States) and created character designs for the 1979 television anime Mobile Suit Gundam. Yasuhiko continues to work on the Gundam franchise to this day; he illustrated the novel series that inspired the new original video anime (OVA) series Mobile Suit Gundam UC. He is also credited with numerous manga, including retellings of the tales of Jesus, Joan of Arc (Joan), and Leon Trotsky (Niji-iro no Trotsky), as well as the ongoing manga Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin.

Manga translator and Japanese in Mangaland author Marc Bernabé produced this video as part of his Masters of Manga website and video series.
This is really cool to see artwork come to life as YAS draws it. for anyone who wants to see how to draw Char.

All three are scheduled to be released on December 7 with a suggested retail price of US$34.98.

Itochu to Put Ishinomori Manga on N. American iPhones
The Saturday edition of the Nihon Keizai Shimbun (Nikkei) paper reported that Itochu Corporation will release Japanese manga on mobile devices in the United States and Canada. In particular, it will start releasing 30 manga, such as Kamen Rider and Cyborg 009, from manga pioneer Shotaro Ishinomori on the Apple iPhone in October. The service will then add works from Harlequin Comics for a total of 100 titles by next spring. The first chapter of each title will be free, and the subsequent chapters will be US$1.00 each.

Ishinomori conceived of several popular classics, including Harmagedon and The Skull Man. Many of his works have been adapted into live-action and animated projects. Nikkei had reported last November that a work by Ishinomori will be adapted into a live-action and computer-graphics film in Hollywood in 2012.

Re: Neo's News - Listener Submitted Articles

Big news from The Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation, the parent company of the Anime Expo convention: CEO Michael Lattanzio has stepped down (leaving on good terms to pursue other projects). Detail is enclosed in the link below.

lattanzio-steps-down

Personally, I have been wanting to go to the Anime Expo but don't know how to get there, so I hope this change would not affect their practices in the near future.
