Ooh looks awesome, now all that's next is to do the same with Double Zeta, Victory, X, and Turn A.

Well seeing as the Zeta movies eliminate ZZ from the UC timeline, there's now even less of a chance that ZZ will ever see a dub or stateside release.

The Zeta movies do not eliminate ZZ from the continuity, as demonstrated by certain aspects of Unicorn.

Re: Zeta Movies to FINALLY come to US this June!

If anything, the Zeta movies make the middle part (Zeta-Unicorn) of the UC timeline even more messed up than it was before.

That said, this is very good news indeed.

Haven't we gone through this a thousand times already? It's foolish. It's a waste of time. The Zeta movies do NOT eliminate ZZ from the timeline. Sunrise has never said this. It has not happened. So please, let's stop spreading this completely unfounded nonsense.

Re: Zeta Movies to FINALLY come to US this June!

Hooray! This, along with the new Gamera releases, will make this a great summer for DVD collecting indeed! ^_^

Since we're talking about the whole Zeta movies-ZZ Gundam-timeline issue, I have a question: I know ZZ isn't eliminated from the timeline, but would it be possible to go straight from watching Zeta III to watching Char's Counterattack semi-smoothly? Or will knowledge of at least the basics of ZZ's plot still be somewhat required?

I ask, 'cause after I purchase the Zeta movies I wonder if I could use the 0079-Zeta-CC set of movies as a sort of baseline "This is UC Gundam!" for non-fans?

you dont really have to watch ZZ in order to watch CCA so you should be fine jumping from Zeta to CCA, there are no references to ZZ at all in CCA so there is no hurry to watch ZZ

OK Camille looks WAY too feminine in the Heirs to the Stars pic...
Things never to say/ask on MAHQ:

Did Char and Amuro Really die?
I think Wing is better than UC.
Really, are Char and Amuro Dead?
Gundam Seed Destiny was a great show, better than Turn A!
Where can I find Gundam hentai?
Seriously people, did Char and Amuro die or not!?

I went from watching the MSG trilogy to watching CCA with no problem, without having read anything about the Zeta and ZZ plot lines either. CCA is enjoyable for what it is: The final fight of Amuro-Char. Of course, having a very basic knowledge of the Gryps and Neo-Zeon conflicts will give you a better appreciation for it.

Yeah, they will be subtitled only.

Yeah, I went from MSG to CCA without seeing Zeta or ZZ or knowing anything about them too. It isn't a huge problem for non-fans, but if you have a real interest in Gundam or the UC works, you should probably know at least a little about what went on in the Gryps and First Neo Zeon Wars. Going from Zeta driectly to CCA has the same thing, only to a lesser extent (Mainly just to explain why the Axis asteroid is now unoccupied and owned by the Federation, which are events from ZZ).

Anyway, a few quick, semi-random questions, since I know some people saw these movies before. How well does the new animation blend with the old stuff? I expect it to be pretty obvious, what with the major age difference between the series and the movies, but is it done well or does it feel out of place or what? Also, much of the movies are the new animation vs the old stuff? I've heard the first one has about twenty minutes of new animation, but what about the other two?

You know what happened to the guy who called Camille as 'girly' don't you? Now you call him 'feminine', be prepared to get punched, your lover(s) killed, and finally kicked into exploding battleship :D.
Anyway, I dislike how they mix the new animation with the old one. I don't think it's well blended. Kinda awkward to see a sudden jump of animation quality; I was wishing they remake entire movies like they did with PS1 Z Gundam game FMVs. It's a wishful thinking anyway.
It's been while since I watched the movies, though. Watching them again in better resolution might change my opinion.

The new animation obviously sticks out because it looks nicer and the character designs are slightly tweaked since Yas wasn't the animation director for the movies. The transitions are generally good when you have an entirely new scene. What is really jarring is when in a single scene it mixes new and old animation, sometimes alternating from shot to shot between new and old. I couldn't tell you offhand how much of the trilogy is new animation, as I haven't seen it in awhile. It's worth a rent just to see, but determining whether you like it enough to buy it depends on what you think of the story changes.

Re: Zeta Movies to FINALLY come to US this June!

I ordered the boxed set sight-unseen just because it was the first time I had the opportunity to purchase it. I was unhappy to see that it was just dubbed, but if I could get all of the unreleased Gundam that way, I would take it and I'm certain a lot of other fans would as well. After seeing what was released during the 30th anniversary, I don't expect much of the older Gundam to be released any other way!

The Zeta movies themselves are not part of the official timeline, they're more of an alternate timeline, a story in of itself. The TV series trumps the movies. Besides, I believe Char mentions Haman and the first Neo Zeon war in CCA, so there's no way that ZZ is no longer part of the official timeline.

Once again, The Right Stuf finds the good stuff. Something I can look forward to getting this summer. That is, if I don't use up all my $$ filling the gas tank. >_<

Re: Zeta Movies to FINALLY come to US this June!

I preordered it on amazon already the price was not that bad, I'm glad to add the movies to my collection but I never really saw the need to make a trilogy of Zeta the series is fine as it is. That being said I am buying it or 2 reaseons, it would be fun to watch on my big LCD TV and maybe just maybe if the movies sell well enough Bandai might consider releaseing subbed versions of other Gundam shows not yet released in the USA. Yeah I know unlikely but a man can dream.
