Diffrent designs of the MSZ-010 ZZ Gundam

We all know that there was a design competition for what the ZZ Gundam would look like when it aired in the show. What I want to know is if anyone out there knows where I could find the different looks of each of the each designers renditions of the mobile suit before it aired?

This may be relevant to what you're looking for. I'm not sure about the origin of each design, or whether these are evolutions of the same design or just separate design proposals.

That may be it. and on a side note, is it just me or does the second one look like it belongs in L-Gaim :) ?

Yeah you are right it goes. It looks similar to the Gabthley which also looked like something from L-Gaim or 5 Star Stories a bit. Honestly the first 3 designs are superior to the final product. The ZZ Gundam on its own, not the FAZZ, looks horrible and nothing at all like the original Zeta. Its a shame really.

I like the second one, though I agree it looks a little out of place. It feels like a Scirocco design or like the Dijeh and the Palace Athene had a baby.

For some reason the fourth one makes me think Airmaster.

*Vomits* Gah....that reminds me of some of Kazuhisa Kondo's work....and frankly....I don't enjoy the designs he makes.

That's awesome, but it doesn't fit in Gundam at all. This reminds me of those gothic looking pictures of the Gundams that are out there. I forgot who is the artist behind them, but this is totally different from that.

Re: Diffrent designs of the MSZ-010 ZZ Gundam

I suppose, if anyone's entitled to mess around with the design of the ZZ, it would be Makoto Kobayashi. After all, he essentially designed it in the first place. (In the collection of scans Zerosystem posted, Kobayashi's rough draft is the third one on the second row, just before the cleaned-up anime version.)

I've always wondered what the show would have been like if Mamoru Nagano had stayed on as mecha designer; his version of the ZZ is the first one on the top row, followed by Kazumi Fujita's attempt at a cleanup. This design was later recycled as the "Whits Mirage" in Five Star Stories.
