It's Dr. Kishiria now!

I'm terribly pleased to announce that yesterday I successfully defended my doctoral dissertation and am now the proud holder of a D.Th. (Doctor of Theology).

Now to pay off the student debt and figure out what to do with it!

Oh wow! Congrats to you Kishiria! No doubt a lot of hard work went into that. I'm just a lowly M.A. myself, but maybe someday...

If you don't mind, can you share what your topic was?
-We will not be caught by surprise!

-Then I am glad once again that you are on my side.
*They've often said that too.

Huzzah! Awesome! Finally, there's somebody I can ask whether or not there's a God. :-)

And now when you talk about religion, and people ask you what the hell you know, your pimp hand will be made strong by the might of education.

And here I'm looking forward to getting my BS in a month, then off to find a job. Congrats on surviving grad school; I know that I sure as hell couldn't.

Not Kira :?

How does one become a Gundam Otaku and religious at the same time. My church members 'frown' on my interest. They think I have some hormomal imbalance or mental growth problems. (I'm 35+years old)

I laughed more than I should have at that statement.

Anyhew, congratulations. Do we have to address you as "Doctor Kishiria" now, or can we be more casual in how we address you?

Tell them that their souls are weighed down by gravity, and that they have little chance of becoming newtypes.

I kid.

In all seriousness, the only real danger to your faith in Gundam are the very occasional sexual scenes, and even then that is hardly an issue compared to other anime filled with fanservice or ecchi.

What Shadowcell said: by going to a different church. I'm Catholic and as long as I'm not watching anime when I should be at Mass once a week, or I'm not watching anime to the exclusion of having a normal life, it's not seen as remotely troubling.

My subject was in a nutshell about veneration (not worship!) of the Virgin Mary by Mexicans. It ended up being an intersection of religion, political history, and art history.

Sounds interesting, even if we can't talk about it here.

Anyway, congratulations on getting this degree of yours, Kishiria-hakase.

Long time no see Kishiria. Congrats on the degree. That's an awesome achievement. I never knew you had a calling for theology, though I know your opinionated and have great thoughts to add to any conversation :). In regards to 00, I guess you'll be at the forefront of analyzing the theological themes, huh? (I think Setsuna would thank you, lol).

I stopped watching 00 a while back, so I'm afraid not.
