So currently, I'm debeating on which next gen console I should get...
Orginally, I wasn't planning on getting a 360 or PS3, but white Knight story made me consider otherwise. 360 on the other hand, has Gears of War, Lost Planets, and Blue Dragon that I wanna play. Keep in mind, I'm more of an RPG gamer and couldn't care less about hype(I tend not to listen to it until I tried the game myself) keep in mind, I never buy a new system unless there's games I wanna get on it.
On the PS3 side, there's MGS 4, ZOE 3, Dynasty Warriors Gundam, White Knight Story. As for what's already out, there's Gundam Crossfire, and Genji: Dawn of the Samurai
On 360's side: Gears of War, Lost Planet, Blue Dragon, as well as a few X Box games I wanna try: Mech Assult 1 and 2, and Gun Griffon.
I wanted a wii for the diffrent style of gameplay it offers, as well as the fact that that you can download varios games.
On the wii side: SD Gundam Scad Hammers, Zelda: Twlight Princess, Trauma Center Second Option, and Super Smash Bros. Brawl...
With those in mind, I have no idea which system I should get first...I'll most likely get one, and work my way up to getting another but I'm definitly in no rush to get a PS3.
I'll most likely be able to save up for one right now, while getting the other two somewhere along the road

Well the Wii isn't region free, so there is a problem you will be facing with that system along with the xbox360. Right now it seems you'll want a PS3 for those RPGs, although the 360 already might have a good amount and has a good chunk more of western RPGs on the way, if not already released.
If you want to play your PSX and PS2 games and planned on getting a PS3 I would say now would be the time to cash in before you have to get a $600 80gig version without the emotion chip that the PS2 used to run it's software. Without the chip the PS3 just emulates the game software the best it can, but there are some titles that don't seem to work yet. With future firmware they should be able to get 99% or so games working, but I hear the number right now isn't so high. Also it is probably one of the cheapest HD players out, that can play other things as well. I honestly only look forward to 2 games this year for PS3 but I'll probably end up getting 5 or so.
The 360 seems to have games coming out everyweek from September to late November with some that are sure to come out before Christmas. Plus it is going to see Gundam Musou stateside as well on August 28th(?)

I would recommend the Wii or the PS3.
The Wii is easily one of the funnest systems out their, and with the right game it makes me feel like when I first got a NES. The only downside to the Wii is that it doesn't have superior graphics or online(But the online is pretty good). Another reason to get the Wii is its backwards compatibility. Since most people who own a Wii don't own a Gamecube there are easily some great titles worth picking up.
The PS3 has a diverse libary and far superior graphics. If you have the money and are willing to wait some time for things to warm up, then a PS3 is the right choice.
The main reason I don't recommend an Xbox is the fact that most games coming out for the 360 are also out for the PC.

i have pretty much given up on obtaining a ps3 at this point and am sorta concieding to 360 cuz if im going to spend $400+ on my ps2 replacement i want to be able to at least get a couple games as opposed to using all my money on the system only. oh well im waiting til oct anyway for GTA4 and ace combat 6

One thing that's definitely to be considered is a suspected price drop for the 360. There's apparently Wal-Mart and Toys R Us ads that advertise a signifcant price drop scheduled to start running around August 12th, with the end prices being 360 Core($250), 360 Pro ($350), and 360 Elite ($400).

The core is only getting a $20 off discount and the elite was going to only get a $30 discount, pretty much making the premium system the only one getting $50 off. Although TRU might be different.

I guess this will put some pressure on Sony since their system will be back at $600 soon. Also I hear the core system for the 360 is going to get discontinued soon, or atleast at Best Buy according to some rumors, and a crappy source photo.

What's the diffrence between Core, Pro, and Elite? Cause all I really want is just a system to enjoy games on not gimmicks

1) As someone else already mentioned, DW: Gundam will also be available on the 360 and a demo is downloadable for free across the marketplace.
2) Mechassault 1 does not work on the 360. I'm not sure about Lone Wolf, it might, but I can tell you without an ounce of doubt that Mechassault 1 will not work.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the core system is the 360 that comes with no hard drive whatsoever, no free month of LIVE gold, and a wired controller. The Pro I imagine is the regular model, with a 12 Gig hard drive, wireless controller and full Live capabilities. The elite is the black one, which is basicilly a pro model only with a 120gig hard drive.Yuusha Tokkyu Might Gaine wrote:What's the diffrence between Core, Pro, and Elite? Also the only way to achieve 1080p resoulution on HDTV (with HDMI), component cables or VGA only can get 1080i, or so I have been told.
The Elite is really just for people who download tons of stuff and need more than the 20gig harddrive that is standard on the regular 360 (premium)
*20gig HDD has so much crap on it that it is at like 12.7 out of the box, 15gigs tops after it is cleared.

I also have a question about the PS3/360...is it possible to transfer files from my computer other then MP3s onto it?

Yes, the 360 just need this third party application that will allow you to nab what files you want off your HDD, only problem is resetting up all your xbox's settings. The Xbox also only can play WMVs and I think one other format, no AVI.
The PS3 can stream audio/video to the PSP using local wifi. There are 3 different means of transferring files; SD card (micro/nano SD should work as well if you have the right mediums), compact flash and a sanduo card inputs are on the front of the machine so you can nab files straight from the PSP's memory card, if you own one of those handhelds.
Also I'll add to this, the PS3 will openly allow you to install a different OS on it, if you so want to put in Linux on it, you can. PS3 also has a free internet browser with java support. PS3 also support bluetooth stuff in case you want to use your headset, keyboard or mouse.

The Core System is just the basic stuff; the 360 unit and a wired controller.
The Pro is pretty much the standard sutff; Wireless Controller, wired headset, and 20 GB hard drive (You need that or a memory card to get onto Xbox Live).
The Elite is an improved Pro; same controller and headset (Only in black) as the Pro, but you also get the 120 GB hard drive (Which comes with eight or nine Xbox Live Arcade games already on it, compared to the one on the 20 GB, plus assorted videos and music), but no transfer cable (Which doesn't matter if you don't have a 360 yet). This is the one that gives you a free month of Xbox Live GOLD, not the Pro.

I had intended to get a 360 but after hearing the horror stories of the so-called "red ring of death" or general hardware failure in less than a year for machines bought, I'm just not confident of MS engineering notwithstanding that MS would replace any 360 consoles that suffer those hardware failures & further provided a 3-year warranty on top of that.
If any, that 3-year warranty shot my confidence in the product even more. From my perspective, it seems that even MS is not confident of their own product to give that kind of extended warranty. OTOH, I had a PS2 for 7+ years (bought in 2000), no nonsense hardware failures and I average between 4-6 hours gaming...almost every day...since I bought it. The only thing I had to replace was the lens assembly last year given the way I abuse the poor thing.
Seems that Sony has their engineering down pat. Given the choice between MS & Sony, and given my own experience, I'd go for PS3.

I got a free month of Xbox live gold when I purchased my Xbox last year on the Wii's launch date.
Reall doesn't matter most games come with a 24 hour or 48 gold pass to try out the service, some places like Best Buy sometimes have killer deals like 1000-2000 MS points and a year of Live for only $36 instead of like $60+

I've had 2 problems with my PS2* and my Xbox360, atleast Microsoft will reimburse the customer or make things easy and pays for the shipping. That is just my experience with both companies.volrath77 wrote:I had intended to get a 360 but after hearing the horror stories of the so-called "red ring of death" or general hardware failure in less than a year for machines bought, I'm just not confident of MS engineering notwithstanding that MS would replace any 360 consoles that suffer those hardware failures & further provided a 3-year warranty on top of that.

I had to end up fixing my PS2 myself since it would cost the same amount for a new one. Only a few months later I had to buy a new one anyways. (Sony actually got sued from what I remember, I do know I was emailed to participate in the class action lawsuit against them.)

Yes, Lone Wolf is compatible with 360. I've got it and it works.Toxicity wrote:

I would suggest getting a 360, simply because I don't feel there are enough good exclusive titles out for PS3 at the moment to justify a purchase.

^--Not necessarily the best argument. When buying a new console, you can't just look at what's out now... but what's going to be out in the future. Most of the more popular, mainstream games will be out on both PS3 and 360. But if you like japanese games--and odds are, if you're here, you do--then the PS3 is the best bet for future games. Sure, the 360 may be getting a few mecha games now, but I don't expect that trend to last.

What are good exclusive titles for the 360 that you can't get on your PC? In my opinion, there is nor reason to get a systemd and a game when you could just get a game.solid snake wrote:Yes, Lone Wolf is compatible with 360. I've got it and it works.Toxicity wrote:

Well I was thinking mainly in terms of consoles since I don't play PC games.WhiteWingDemon wrote:What are good exclusive titles for the 360 that you can't get on your PC?
