painting poly caps

Hey gang,

I went and picked up another 144th Astray Red Frame and plan to repaint it into Gold Frame. I've already painted most of the frame gold and I am really happy with the way it's turning out.

However.....those red poly caps.....how on earth am I going to paint them? Everytime I have painted over poly caps in the past, the paint just flakes off.

Ideas?

Re: painting poly caps

I have never painted poly caps, but I would think that the paint for flexible vinyl models would be the best thing to try.

Re: painting poly caps

I found Duplicolor Vinyl and Fabric paint. It is a rattle can, spray it on the runner of poly caps and let it set for 24 hours. No flaking, no cracking.....it can be scraped off, but it took a lot of pressure with an xacto blade. The trouble is it only comes in a few colors. But I've found you can use it as a primer and use regular hobby paints over it just fine
