How common are Multimedia Projects?

How common are Multimedia Projects?

Would most anime projects be considered Multimedia Projects? Even now a lot of tie ins (Manga, Video games, Image Albums, Stage Plays though granted they can't be exported unless you go on an expensive global tour). So what would qualify it as a Multimedia Project? Would it have to have all of these factors to qualify it for this?

At this point, that's pretty much just the definition of "media franchise". It might start in one format, but eventually it'll spiral into others simply by chasing the money.

Not everything has to be exported for it to be commercially viable, though. As long as it's in multiple media formats in the home market it's multimedia.

Multimedia... How nostalgic.... Back in '90s, when CD-Rom drive and Sound Blaster were fabulous, the word sound like magic label for anything with both animation and sound. They change the definition?

Also, most anime nowadays are either adapted from manga or light novel(especially the isekai genre ones were mostly web novels), and original ones usually give us a manga adaptation either simultaneously or a few weeks ahead to lure people in watching the anime, and usually will have a game adaptation once it garnered some popularity(which will be so badly made and likely randomly piecing things together or robbed a game which is under development and change the skin of the game to the anime characters so they don't need a full 2 year development time but will be very underdeveloped.
