Super Robot Discussion?
So, what's this forum's policy or ruling on discussing Super Robot shows, like say the new Getter Robo Arc anime that's out right now?

Re: Super Robot Discussion?
Any anime or manga is discussable here within reason, not just mecha or sci-fi.
Re: Super Robot Discussion?
People on Mecha Talk have tended to gravitate toward discussing real robots mostly, but super robots have always been welcome here.

Quite a few places, actually. If you're only talking about EN streams there's bilibili global (I don't know if there's any region restrictions for this), AniOne for South/East/Southeast Asia, and HIDIVE/VRV for North America.
Well, I guess I'm a nobody...

As someone with only passing familiarity with Getter Robo from SRW games, is it one continuous series or do they have reboots / alt universes / spin offs aplenty like Marzinger?

Most of animate series are in its own continuity. Some has referrence to original seies or manga, but none to other.

I am also not familiar with the franchise but at least one film has them out like independent parallel universes.Underrated GM Custom wrote: ↑Thu Jul 22, 2021 2:12 pm As someone with only passing familiarity with Getter Robo from SRW games, is it one continuous series or do they have reboots / alt universes / spin offs aplenty like Marzinger?

Re: Super Robot Discussion?
A bit of summary AFAIK.
Getter Go - Pretty much an completely new AU. Has nothing to does with the original series or manga.
Neo Getter - Take some plotline from both original manga (Musashi' death) and Getter Go manga (Hayato's injuries, and Ryoma quit piloting) but otherwise it's new continuity.
Shin Gettet Last Day - New contunuity, although Ishigawa wrote one extra chapter in Shin Getter manga as its prequel.
New Getter - Reboot.

Ah gotcha, thanks for the explanation. Does Getter Arc require watching a previous series to understand?

Sounds good, I'll give it a watch but I'll probably wait till the season finishes.
