Crossbone, Zanscare and The Jovians?

Post by Mafty » Sat Feb 06, 2021 6:26 pm

Is their any relation between The Crossbone Vanguard and The Zanscare Empire? I know neither are Zeon remnants, but are the Zanscare tied to remnants of Crossbone Vangaurd? Jupiter play's a role in both Crossbone Gundam and Victory, but are they tied into F91?

While it is mentioned several times that the Jupiter Sphere colonies that support the Jupiter Energy Fleet under the nominal leadership of Crux Dogatie frequently provided materiel and financial assistance to the various totalitarians seeking to overthrow the Earth Federation prior to the Empire's reorganization into the Jupiter Republic in UC 0133, specifics are often annoyingly few and far between.

AFAIK, there's no direct connection between the Zanscare Empire in Side 2 and the Crossbone Vanguard who created the Side 4 nation of Cosmo Babylonia and then went on to help overthrow the Jupiter Empire.

There's plenty of connection between both parties and the Jupiter Sphere colonies though.

The Crossbone Vanguard almost certainly received financial and materiel aid from the Jupiter Empire in their quest to establish an aristocratic nation and oppose the Earth Federation. Plus the Prime Minister of the Zanscare Empire was a Jovian who grew up in the Jupiter Empire. (That and the Angel Halo was originally a joint venture between Zanscare and the Jupiter Republic... albeit as an emigrant ship meant to relocate Jovians back to Earth.)

Considering the resources required to stock three well armed militaries(Compare the weaponry of the first Crossbone Vangaurd to its resistance successor) it makes sense that money would have to be funneled in from somewhere(Though the Ronah's were already independently wealthy from their conglomerate Buch Concern, which also built mobile suits). Plus the further away from the Earth Sphere the easier it would be to manufacture the weaponry in secret.

I heard that in the Victory Gundam novel(SPOILERS) Uso's father escapes the ship crash and goes on a mission to Jupiter to root out the next threat...

Also according to a few (uncomfirmed) places if V Gundam was a success it would have been followed by a sequel that involved planetary colonist's trying to flee back to earth. I'm unsure of the validity of either of these, but that could shed more light on the out sphere conspiracies.

IMO, it's a bit bizarre that the Jupiter Sphere is depicted as scarcely self-sufficient despite being the owners of the all-important Jupiter Energy Fleet that provides virtually all of the Helium-3 for the Earth Sphere. You'd think they would've alleviated their resource problems a bit with the vast wealth that comes from a near-monopoly on reactor fuel and/or just ship the necessities they need back from Earth in the empty helium-3 storage tanks.

Don't know if that was ever a plan for a series... but Tobia Arronax's account of the Angel Halo's development from Crossbone Gundam: Ghost indicated that's what the Angel Halo was originally developed for until the Zanscare Empire repurposed it into a Newtype weapon. It was supposed to transport hundreds of thousands of Jovians to be resettled on Earth.

Agreed it seems that after decades of Helium 3 transport there should at least be more money to go around. Though it's possible that a lot of that wealth is funneled for their military projects, Plus Dogaite is shown hoarding resources for his own use.

Also just how much of Zanscare do you think are Jovians? We know Kagate is from Jupiter, and Cronicle and Maria are from Side 1 originally. So it may be a mix of Jovians and Colonists.
