The Future of Newtypes? (Spoilers)
The Future of Newtypes? (Spoilers)
I know that timeline wise (and for rather vague reasons) Newtypes become rather scarce in the late UC. However Queen Maria and her Pyschickers still seem very powerful, to say nothing of Uso. So what does everyone think? Do Newtypes fade away(their population was never what you'd call huge even after eighty years), or become the next stage in evolution?

Re: The Future of Newtypes? (Spoilers)
When all is said and done, Newtypes never really got the chance to emerge in large numbers the way the Universal Century charter's framers and Zeon Deikun thought they would. They ended up being treated as super soldiers and losing their lives in inhumane experiments or on the battlefield and gradually faded into myth. They never got the chance to be the next stage in human evolution.Mafty wrote: ↑Wed Jul 29, 2020 1:25 pm I know that timeline wise (and for rather vague reasons) Newtypes become rather scarce in the late UC. The only numerically-significant group of Newtypes to survive by not getting caught up in all of that nonsense is the population of Dandelion colony in Mobile Suit Victory Gundam Gaiden. Their leader, Grey Stoke (Judau Ashta operating under an alias), had the colony converted into an interstellar generation ship that set sail for the Proxima Centauri system and arrived there in UC 0653.

Re: The Future of Newtypes? (Spoilers)
Another reason is mainly because NTs don't awaken until they face live or death situations.
If they are not placed in intense battles that may kill them, they are just like any other normal OT.
Psychickers aren't the same as NT, they are said to be even more powerful in some of the aspects, especially if you look into combat related skills. Instead of Psychommu, they just use telekinesis and telepathic powers, instead of having very good analytical skills that can forecast the future to a high degree of accuracy, they can simply see the future.
Of course the latter isn't always better, analytical skills can lead to better judgement on the battlefield, but most of the time Psychickers are just that much more stable as soldiers and tools.
