Black Hole Bomb

Post by MetalNeptune479 » Sun Dec 22, 2019 1:07 am

After watching the original Gunbuster, and seeing how Humanity was able to develop Buster Machine III, a Black Hole bomb which destroyed a huge chunk of the galaxy they live in, did Human scientists ,engineers and military brass ever consider creating a Super Robot buster machine using the Jupiter core instead of building a one time use bomb that ran the risk of not firing if it was damaged in even the slightest?

another thought was the idea of the number of pre-warp alien civilizations that may or may not have been devastated, if not out right annihilated in the Buster Machine III implosion. It was briefly touched upon in episode 6 about whether or not humanity was in the right for doing such a thing, and that it was a necessary evil humanity needed to do to survive. On one hand, had humanity not exploded the bomb, they would have gone extinct and another pre-warp or space faring warp civilization would have Been at the Mercy of the Uchuu Kaiju. On the other, Humanity was no better than the Kaiju and likely did more damage to the galaxy than the Uchuu Kaiju may have done in the long run.

And if there were civilizations who survived the devastation and eventually figured out that humanity was responsible for destruction that killed so many others including their own. Would they see humans as monstrous, pragmatic, or straddling the middle? A part of me feels there would be much hostility from some civilizations wondering why humanity didn't find another way to keep the Kaiju at bay, hence why I brought up why Did Humanity Build a Bomb, rather than a another super robot to systematically hunt down the kaiju until they no longer posed a threat.
