It's really nice for once to have Canada running one of the super powers instead of being absorbed by the US like it usually is.

Isn't it, though. I'm pleasantly surprised its getting the focus. Poor place gets ignored so much it's almost a crime.

Well, looks like an awesome tundra battle next time, making up for today not having one. Of course, if this were a Tomino show, we'd have at least gotten a small skirmish, but no biggy.

That moment between Mika and Orga felt like a villainous moment to be sure, it even came with lightning. That... somehow made it less cliche for me and more frightening, considering the one asking how many people he has to kill is just a kid. Mika sure knows how to be creepy in a frightening way.

And it looks like we're edging ever closer to that point where Orga gives the fateful order that Mika just isn't going to follow.

Well, consider what happened in the last episode, it is understandable that this one is mostly aftermath.

We get to see what would be Ein's Gundam. Probaly non-goetic demon? As McGillis' words suggest that it was developed after Calamity War?).

Wow, I known Kudelia is growth-up but her discussion with Makanai still surprise me how much she growth.

The way Lafter talk, look like there's something deeper in Turbines than just Naze's harem. Well, guess we will not get much more exposition on this unless we have 2nd season. Although the implication may explain why all of the girls are jealous over him.

I personally consider it a distinct possibility that those might have been Valkyrie Frames rather than Gundam Frames, though it's hard to tell for certain and, TBH, either one is a possibility.
The fact that Gjallarhorn - or what would become Gjallarhorn - developed the original Gundams, and the fact that there are a total of seventy-two Gundams, of which we have only seen 3(4 if we count Astaroth from that side-story) means that a Gundam frame is possible, and maybe even probable.

As for the machine in the Ep22 preview that we get a brief glimpse of, IMO it looks much more like something along the lines of the Grimgerde(ergo a V-Frame), than a Gundam, though as the Gusion proved, Gundams can have different appearances.

Anyway, as for this episode, mostly dealing with the aftermath of the battle in the last episode and setting up for the next one, in which we will also be seeing Barbatos Form 6 as well. Quite looking forward to it, and kinda eager to see how much Mika's going to wreck Carta in the next fight, especially in light of what happened last ep.
And Kudelia is proving to rapidly continue showing us that she is quite competent, with the way she is maneuvering even around old Dali-beard.
Was nice to see Fabulous McGillis again without his goofy costume. I like him.

Yeah that scene caught me off guard.

I thought the episode would end with either A) Orga still being stuck in his depressive state or B) Merribit would help him come to terms with Biscuit's death. Turns out it was neither. While Mika does snap him out of it, all he has really done is transformed Orga's sorrow into anger and now he's on the war path more than ever. Without Biscuit there is no one to provide a counter weight to Orga and while Merribit could potentially fill the role, can she do it before Orga does something he'll really regret?

Didn't it, though? But who's going to be the antagonist? Wouldn't it be the twist of 21st Century Gundam to have Mika become the antagonist of season 2? (assuming there is one)
Of course, it does still feel like Orga is being set up, given the logical possibility of Mika always obeying him.

Well. I don't know what to say about that. It looks like yet another Graze. How many of these things are they going to make? I want something refreshingly different.

That is the thing, it was hinted and fully on display here that the relationship between the two isn't that one sided, Mika basically bullied Orga almost physically but definitely emotionally based on their past to get up out the funk. Which is crazy hell but damn he proves once his Gundam being named after a demon (albeit I think one that is trying to find redemption from God and a place in heaven if remember right) is fitting. I don't think it is so much a fateful order that could drive a wedge between the two unless it is Mikazuki going heroic sacrifice to save others or complete the mission when Orga asks him not to.

That being said, they are right, even after the mission is complete unless their organization dissolves into Teiwaz they will be hunted by Gjallarhorn as things stand. They have to deal a near death blow to the organization in order to ever be free.

There has to be a sequel season because McGillis is two faced and I can't see him getting his ass stomped in one season unless they are going for a devious semi bad guy wins which allows the heroes to survive route. But given how he seems to be setting up those he even grew up with, I feel he is being built up as a big bad that supplants his pops and the current corrupt regime with one of his own.

But three episodes unless it is a rushed mash up isn't nearly enough.

I think McGillis is less a villain at the moment, since he's both an antagonist and protagonist right now.

As for the Tekkies, I feel their situation is ever more becoming tied permanently with Kudelia. The more into the spotlight she shines, the more they shine with her. The Union guys were all pumped over rumors about the "young knights" escorting her. That sounds an awful lot like what Gjallarhorn might have been, on a side note, lots of potential there for the far future. Now we even have the parallel that the AV system was for the very purpose Tekkadan is using it for at the moment. It stands to reason that Orga, IMO, will have to confront that the job with Kudelia will never end: if she wins her revolution, they'll be her sword, and there won't be anyone else willing to touch the Tekkies because of that association, for good or bad.

What worries me is, if the situation continues to play out like the above, Orga might realize that they're headed for something quite different than what he signed on for. Of course, that might be a good thing. This episode sees him giving a "turn your sorrow into anger!" speech about destroying Gjallarhorn. As stated, this is there only possible action to avoid being eventually hunted and killed by the organization. I guess we wait and see how it plays out. . .

I won't even be disappointed in a long-shot chance that Gali-Gali becomes the protagonist. But no, I don't see that scene in this episode that Mika and/or Orga are turning into villains/turning against each other. I think it's just their way of tapping into the screwed-up life they had to pull themselves out of a funk, nothing more.

Anyone else thinking a blood bath is necessary in this last few episodes? 22 Eps in and I still don't know half of Tekkadan characters' names and really don't care to know them.

Nah, instead it got absorbed by Russia. Arbrau consists mostly of Russia, Alaska, and Canada.

Well I guess he regretted taking this battle since it coated them Biscuit. Orga did feel he was responsible and that was the cause of his depression. It would be interesting to see what happens to him when the anger boils down and reality hits him because Tekkadan is outgunned way too much

By the way, is there any confirmation on season two? I think we should have heard something about that by now

Check last page, we got something about the second season from several sources. Nothing official as far as I know. . .

Which is worrisome, because this series is clearly intent on making a bid for traditional 4 cour, regardless if Bandai is going to give it. On that note, how popular is the gunpla so far, and how are the show's ratings about now? They started going up back in the mid teens.

That's the thing Amion we haven't heard anything from a big time source. I bet that at this stage we knew 00 would get a second spin, although the story warrants, I think that I might prefer Sunrise doing something else because this crew hasn't taken advantage of the time they had -they weren't able to admin it properly.

Hopefully we do get a second season, though if not then I think Sunrise should stay clear of any new gundam projects until the 40th anniversary.

Not comparable because 00 was announced from the start as a 50 episode series that would be split into two seasons. However, with Code Geass, the second season was announced at the end of first season's last episode, so this could go the same way.

Correct me if I am wrong, but does the way Lafter and Merribit talked this episode imply that Naze doesn't actually have a harem after all or at least it isn't as big as his entire ship? As they said, they are girls who have "no where else to go" so they join up with Turbines. And Naze just says that they are "all his women" regardless if that is true or not... So are they a harem? Or is it all an act to keep them safe?

At the very least, Amida, Lafter and Azee are in a relationship with Naze. It's obvious that Amida is in a relationship with Naze, and there's dialogue throughout the show that strongly suggests Lafter is also in a relationship with him. During the preview for ep. 20 Azee says, "Don't worry [Naze] I won't cheat on you".

Though it might extend to the bridge members as well. In episode 15, Amida and Lafter are complaining to Naze that he isn't giving them enough "attention", and during this moment the other members on the bridge have jealous looks on their faces. And then there's the way they are positioned around Naze during the first OP.

Still, I always did have a feeling that Naze was exaggerating when he said all the women on his ship were part of his harem.

I really teared up when I heard him say how happy he was to serve again and when they showed the display on the terminal giving us a glimpse of what he has become; a mere component of a mobile suit and no longer fully human.
I really felt sad for Ein as he is now a walking sarcophagus that encases whatever is left of him.
That display screen on the terminal, the way Graze Ein was hanging on the hangar, and the glare on the monoeye was just FRIGHTENING, really gave me the chills.
Just knowing that he only has his upper body and head and is grafted directly with the suit while his lower body and arms are amputated is CREEPY.
- A side of me wanted to continue rooting for Mika as he mauled Kartandy and whatever was left of her boyband like a rabid beast to make it even for Biscuit's death, but the other side of me felt sorry for her ending up like this.
And Gaelio once again proves that he is the dandy with a heart of gold.

Didn't think Ein was that seriously injured. Was that just a graphic showing only the important part - the AV system? Gaelio's disgust was real, but I thought that was simply him not agreeing with the very basis of the AV system, i.e., cyborgs.

Anyway, Merribit has a very real concern about their direction; I'm looking to see how Orga is going to handle this from now on. What happened to Biscuit should have been a wake-up call for him.
