Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

I'm really digging this gritty, ground war feel. 08th took some steps in that direction but squandered it with the Romeo & Juliet plot, the Bond villain with his anachronistic super weapon, etc.

Granted, I'm sure we'll get plenty of Super Robot-flavoried shenanigans once the Gundam starts stomping everything in its path and the other guys start cranking out super-prototype for those toy sales, but maybe the first few episodes will give us some nice, pitched battles in the mud and the blood.

I don't know if I want blood and mud. More like blood and iron. You know, cuz the surface is all rusty oxodized iron stuff.

Anyway, I think you mean "relic" suits. Most of the Gundam champions we'll be seeing should be like Barbatos, old.

Until the aforementioned prototype comes out.

If that trope decides to end that way. :)

I'll translate it a little later for those interested.

Very interesting indeed. I don't know of Sunrise or Bandai having done this with any other series before that I can recall. It's interesting to see Sunrise making this kinda of effort; I wonder where they plan to head with it.

The CGS site has been updated, and it seems the folks in the PD era knew about the present day.

I'm really digging that logo.

And what do you mean access not admitted? Don't you go telling me that on the official stream, CGS, or someone's gonna get a whole gang of Ghallahorns after them. Or...however it is you pronounce that other group. :D

Pretty good stuff. I just saw it as well. Can't wait for this to start. Though some of the names really made me LOL.

Ok. I was keeping myself calm and my expectations low but after seeing PV 2 I can't help myself.

So, I suppose the mobile suits don't have air conditioner, or Mars is just really hot in general. And the girls seem younger than the boys, although most of them seem young regardless.

So the cute local girl has a crush on the lead? Nice, but why do I get the feeling she'll end up out in the cold while he gets closer to the upper class lady instead?

I have to wonder if they're introducing too many characters to give them proper development and screen time. Also, sometimes when a story works too hard to introduce that many setting pieces and premises, it suggests that the writing will be heavy handed. This could still go either way (action choreography seems great though, much more real robot like Gundam 00).

What gives you the impression any of this will be the case? Most of these orphan kids will probably just background characters or get killed. The base premise doesn't sound any more convoluted than a typical Gundam series, and I don't see anything (so far) to suggest heavy-handed writing.

Episode 14 is tentatively titled "The Ship that Carries Hope". I'm wondering if it takes that long for them to get off the planet... 0_o;

Do we only have an episode title for 14 for some reason?
