I don't think the mask is some kind of mind altering device. That's an (I would argue cheap) element of mask tropes that Tomino never uses. The mask has always been a metaphor in Tomino's story, and it's not implausible that Luin is just expressing a very different side of himself with the mask on. Plus, it makes far more sense if the nice Luin we saw at the start of the series really was the actual "mask" that Luin wore in life.

Luin probably put two and two together really early on. They know Bellri is with the Megafauna, and that he can pilot the Gundam. Creepy Colonel probably knows what's going on with Bellri, his mom, and the Megafauna as well, and Bellri came back to Capital with his mom and the Megafauna to try to negotiate something. That information probably wasn't missed by Luin either. Plus he's fought with the G-Self several times now, and he probably trained with Bellri. He has all the information he would need. I think the fact that he doesn't care that it's Bellri speaks volumes about his character and ambitions, and I think the little cheap shot he drops about Bellri in this episode raises the strong possibility that he never actually liked him in the first place.

Which cheap shot I don't remember him mentioning anything like that to Bellri when he was fighting against him. I do remember that Mask did mention Koh by name and such when he was threatening the Megafauna but not anything against Bellri.

"No matter where I go the grade-skipper always gets in my way" right after Kerbes tries to kick him and he gets back into the Mack Knife's cockpit. He's clearly referring to Bellri there.

Please fix the spoiler tag, thank you.

He pretty clearly recognized Kerbes too. Does he just not care about anyone if it means achieving his ambitions?

Not into this episode at all. Partially because those Mick Jacks or whatever are absolutely ridiculous. Surely there will be more interesting designs coming soon. And a return of the Armorzagan. Please.

Next episode looks like it will make up for this episode's failure, however. that cathedral looked awfully impressive.

I did like the nuggets of development Mask got though. Luin Lee is probably the most interesting character in this series.

He's definitely the most interesting and complex. I wonder if he was actually bluffing with the Recksnow pilot. He seemed eager to let him go.

Wait, wasn't Aida's dad going to stop the Amerian fleet's attack? He was chewing out the president about it but then followed the president's orders. Did I miss something or is this lol Tomino again?

Congrats, Aida, you actually hit something.

The Inspector General is double crossing someone. That said, it would be very difficult for him to convince the President just because he talked with so and so (especially given the kind of guy the President seems to be. Saying that they'll change plans and go to Sankt Port helps him maintain control of his fleet and what actually happens from there.

Then will it be bumped onto the 2nd? Or will we have to wait another week for the next episode to show.

Mick Jack (weird name) is the name of that blonde chick with the purple normal suit who piloted the Armorzagan before. The pinkish mobile suit she's piloting is called Hecate, and the one Klim Kick piloted appears to me to be a command-model Jahannam Space Type.

Anyway, I have not been watching the show for a few weeks, so I marathoned the last few episodes, and I'm rather enjoying it...though I still don't like most of the mech designs. It was a shame the Montero got destroyed, that was a pretty nice-looking mech. Loving the G-Arcane, though Aida seems to be a mediocre pilot, which is a refreshing change from "Named character A gets a Gundam or similar mobile suit and starts insta-pwning".
Ditto Bellri, actually. He's at best a decent pilot, and what's been saving him so far is mainly the G-Self's versatility and high performance, though we do see that he is improving with every sortie.

A comment though, about the so-called Amerian space fleet: One flagship and four escorts is not a fleet - it's barely a single squadron or strike group. Just saying.

Still, I am looking forward to seeing where the story goes from here.

You get the very strong impression that everyone is still relearning the art of warfare in G-Reco.

Re: The Official Gundam Reconguista Anime Thread Mk II

Tomino names are annoying, their syllables don't even flow. Ideon and Dunbine had it far worse. I am pretty sure the Mack Knife is named after either the Dogg Mack or Diggo Mack from Ideon. Dunbine had 3 ships starting with a g sound that are super hard to pronounce; the Guran Galan, Graon and Gea Gring.
