The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I
Re: Macross Delta new TV series
I prefer the movie ending. Taking it like macross zero's melancholy is much more effective than that unresolved series ending. I mean, SOMEONE DIED IN THE SERIES.
Watching: Black Bullet, The World is Still Beautiful, Brynhildr in the Darkness, Captain Earth, The Irregular at Magic High School

Given how amorphous Macross continuity is they likely won't mention it.Henyo wrote:on the subject of the Sniper, it makes me wonder what ending will they use for frontier. if its the movie, i'll accuse Micheal of popularity power!
Thanks to this interview with Tenjin Hideataka, we know that the new Macross series will be out early next year!!!

Re: Macross Delta new TV series
Yeah, I'd be surprised if there's more than a passing acknowledgement that the events of Frontier happened. If they mention it, it'll be like the expository bits in Macross 7 and Frontier, where they distill the entire war down to two or three sentences and a couple stills.Arbiter GUNDAM wrote:Given how amorphous Macross continuity is they likely won't mention it.Henyo wrote:on the subject of the Sniper, it makes me wonder what ending will they use for frontier. if its the movie, i'll accuse Micheal of popularity power!
Gonna be good stuff tho.

Re: Macross Delta new TV series
Yup and it's absolutely AWESOME that we'll be getting it a year before the 35th Anniversary.

Yeah, it's good news to be sure. Really curious about the mechanical design.
Re: Macross Delta new TV series
Do we know anything about when the story will take place?

Re: Macross Delta new TV series
Details so far have stated Macross Delta is set 8 years after Macross Frontier, which was set in 2059 AD. So that would be 2067.

Re: Macross Delta new TV series
A recent tweet has said that the first 10 scripts have been finished and they've started storyboarding the first episode. So hopefully this means we'll be getting an official announcement or PV or something in the next 2-3 months.

Yeah, they are going along at a good clip. I wonder if we'll get a special early pilot episode like we did with Macross Frontier?
Re: Macross Delta new TV series
Yeah, like for Christmas - that would be incredible.

Re: Macross Delta new TV series
Well, as I said, it looks like we MIGHT be getting it early next year. IIRC, the only reason the special version of the 1st episode of Frontier was released when it was, was because of delays with the rest of the series. Hopefully that won't happen this time?

LOL! Love it
They actually posted a little notice that something is coming soon. Not exactly big news, but in the age of the internet, every crumb is a big event

Re: Macross Delta new TV series
To absolutely no one's surprise, the new series is indeed called Macross Delta.
Shoji Kawamori might be talking about it at the All Japan Model & Hobby tomorrow and the poster indicates there will be a press event for it on October 29 at noon. I'd be willing to bet that's when we'll find out who won the Miss Macross contest?

An announcement of an annoucement to come I love the age of the internet...
Well, at least there's some news. That design appears to have VF-25 -style engine/feet, but a YF-19/YF-30 shape.

Re: Macross Delta new TV series
Makes sense as it only takes place about... 8 years after Frontier?

Re: Macross Delta new TV series
Yeah, just saw it.
Definitely some major influence from the Saab Draken in that unknown red-and-black craft at the top.

They are definitely taking the "Delta" in the name quite seriously. Since they show two delta wing craft here, I wonder if delta wing craft will be most of what we see in this next Macross series?
These variable fighters have elements of earlier shows (including Frontier), but this is quite a bit different from what I was expecting. The colors of the blue craft are rather interesting compared to most Macross craft, almost going back to a Macross Plus style of dull primary colors with little to no white.
