OK, we have some more character reveals!

First is Kaname Buccaneer, who is the leader of the Walkure unit and 22 y/old. The Onee-san character.

Next is Makina Nakajima, 18 y/old, bit of an airhead, also Walkure's mechanical specialist.

Onee-san chara! and the Unit Leader! should we prepare the ingredients for that pineapple cake/salad peeps? an airhead mechanic. not really new right? but not unwelcome either!

I like the character designs thus far. Different for Macross.

So now we have all of Walkure revealed, er, fully, I suppose.

Freyja Wion the new blood. Mikumo Guynemer, the beauty. Kaname Buccaneer, the onee-san and leader. Makina Nakajima, the busty, bubbly one. And last but not least, Reina Prowler the 15 y/old hacker of the group and someone who doesn't show much emotion.

Also, the Walkure member's names, except for Freyja's, all might have an aeronautical theme. Mikumo may be named after Georges Guynemer, a WW1 French fighter ace who flew SPAD biplanes. Kaname may be named after the Blackburn Buccaneer, a British fighter jet. Makina may be named after the Nakajima Aircraft Corp., which manufactured many planes for Japan in WW2. And Reina may be named after Grumman's EA-6 Prowler electronic warfare plane.

I wonder who will be revealed next? I would guess either they'll start on the Aerial Knights characters or that blue-haired kid we saw in the trailer.

As it turns out, one of the new characters in Delta is... Mirage Falyna Jenius. Almost certainly a granddaughter to Max and Milia, but I suppose there is a small possibility that she's a 9th daughter... maybe.

Well, I think I remember reading in this thread somewhere that Macross Delta is set in 2067 or 2068, while the original IIRC was set in 2009. Mirage is 18, which means she would have been born in 2049-50. When Max first appears in the original series, he's 16. So when Mirage was born, he would have been about 56-57, and would be around 74-75 now.
Not sure how plausible that is, but either way, it's nice to see a Jenius in Macross again.

That said, Mirage is probably the first character whose design doesn't make me feel kinda uneasy. The pop squad are one thing - though most of them look jailbait-y - even some of the ones that aren't - which I'm not a huge fan of. And as for those guys, they look like Code Geass rejects in those goofy uniforms.
Mirage, I like though. So I do hope that she plays a prominent role...
And the VF-31 and Sv-262 look awesome. Especially the former, IMO. So we'll see...

We all happy but i'm ESPECIALLY happy to finally have a name to go with the elf eared female, and a JENIUS at that too. Not that interested in the lolis. Here's hoping they pay homage to the infamous family piloting skills.

We're talking about Max, so he may have pulled a similar stunt like Joseph Joestar.(from what i've read about Jousuke's origins anyways.) on Millia. on that regards, have there been any Meltrandi shown in their 60s or 70s in the entire franchise?

Is she a piloting genius? Hell yeah. Don't forget, MIlene as the baby daughter was 14 in 2045, and her older sisters were grown up and had moved out to start their own lives. I would say Mirage is a child of one of Milene's onee-sans.

Some of the guys from the Macross Speaker Podcast got tickets to see an advance screening of the first episode, ahead of the 12/31 special broadcast.

Ever since the Macross Frontier movies and seeing the costume changes that Sheryl and Ranka do especially in the final battle, I always thought that it was possible for Macross to do something akin to a magical girl transformation.

I never expected them to actually go ahead and do it, apparently complete with poses and portraits

Also, while this isn't the first time the singers in Macross ride out into battle, this looks to be the first time they do so outside of a ship or cockpit in the middle of battle. Not only that, but they're capable of defending themselves by commanding V-shaped multipurpose swarm drones that can not only create defensive shields, but also create holograms and special effects, or form into platforms the girls can stand on.

I must admit, it's making me want to see just how the entire thing actually works, especially since they described it as something akin to both AKB0048 and Symphogear, which already sounds like crazy awesome.

and it is because i realized that i'll still be getting some Yuri in this Macross after all. yuri Goggles required but yuri none the less. those idol groups will surely have some subtext. and if you've been in the Idol anime for some time you'll know this to be true.

one more thing. that captain kinda reminded me of Space Dandy's Doctor Gel. it's the body build for sure.

I am Zaku-green with envy for their good fortune and fandom moment. The series premiere looks to have much promise. I await it with some eagerness.
