Does it specify whether Towasanga is on the moon's far surface, or in space on the far side? What about Venus Globe - is it in orbit alongside the Space Lake, or was the surface and/or atmosphere terraformed?
gunform1010 wrote:Towasanga. Typical strange Tomino "pull name out of hat" name. The same can be said for Venus Globe.
Yeah, I can't fathom why he'd call a human habitat near/on Venus the "Venus Globe". So random of him!
balofo wrote:The colonies became debris
I wonder if that's just over time, as the result of some major event, or both. This is, after all, 1014 years after a new calendar starts; whether the majority were simply abandoned over time for Towasanga or outright destroyed, they'd likely be little more than debris by that point. Saying they "failed" is similarly vague, though it's definitely possible that the banning of nuclear energy is connected.

I can't say I'd be upset if that's all it said, though - it's nice to have some things left for us to speculate on until the show itself confirms them.

We could have easily misread Towasanga as the Ninja Turtles' battlecry. But then, it's the far future by then.
Spoiler
BTW, have you seen the G-Arcane? It looks like more in line with a "traditional" Gundam.

Looks like an expansion of the character section.

Gunform, please DO NOT triple post, particularly in a span of just 10 minutes. We have an EDIT button. Use it.

Also, giving orders like "someone go translate them" is a really good way to NOT motivate people to do free translation work for you...

Very much this. Those of us who aren't fluent in Japanese are very fortunate those who are take the time to keep us in the loop. If that isn't good enough for you, learn the language yourself (something I for one need to stop putting off).

Plogize. Growing a bit impatient with news even though the three-episode compilation is a few weeks away. I actually need to learn Japanese anyway to look for Ideon material.

I think they put character info from the brochures finally onto the website. That's my best guess as to the new character stuff.

Latest tweet says that Aida's family name is changed to "Surgan", though both remain her name...

Sure enough her profile has the new name.

Re: The Official Gundam Reconguista Anime Thread Mk I

I'm hoping they'll explain why all the MS are using solid shields instead of beam-shields/I-Fields (lack of resources?)
Things never to say/ask on MAHQ:

Did Char and Amuro Really die?
I think Wing is better than UC.
Really, are Char and Amuro Dead?
Gundam Seed Destiny was a great show, better than Turn A!
Where can I find Gundam hentai?
Seriously people, did Char and Amuro die or not!?

The G-self does use a beam shield. I suspect though that solid shields might be sufficient if materials have advanced enough. It's also possible that energy management has become important if they don't have nuclear power

Re: The Official Gundam Reconguista Anime Thread Mk I

Don't beam shields also require a sub programme that monitors how close it is in proximity to areas of the suit it's protecting? That sounds quite advanced and something I could easily falling under lost knowledge in this period.

I don't think they require it, but I can't imagine the technology being that difficult if you can generate a beam shield in the first place. It seems like a basic on off switch at worse.

Where are we seeing the G-Self with a beam shield? It's had a solid one in everything I've seen. Was this in the written specs?

No, they're asking why beam shields, being present in UC, have suddenly disappeared.

Emphasis mine. Probably should have quoted that originally.
