Not sure if it'll happen, but I reckon it'd be cool to see a "bronze medal" match between Aila and Julian.

A 3rd place match?

I think if it occur, it would be off-screen, at best it's a short battle where we see how it end.

In tourney anime/manga, we only see 3rd place match if it's plot-relate (sometime the losed character really need a prize - from a large sum of money to a ticket to bigger league (which is clearly not for GBF), sometime the losed guy want to motavate his rival in someway). Otherwise, nobody (I mean us, audiences) give a damn about 3rd place, just like in real life.

I do!

Honestly, that was a question nagging at the back of my head after this episode: "Julian is a great pilot, but is he better than Aila?" While it isn't something that would be really worth using what precious screen time they have remaining for, it'd be a good match.

In fact, now that I think about it, if Build Fighters had unlimited episodes to work with, I'd have loved to see the tournament bracket work with "Winner's Bracket" and "Loser's Bracket" (as well as their respective finals, and "Grand Finals"). Oh, and see all the top 16 matches fully realized, even with the no-name cannon fodder characters (except make them no longer cannon fodder). It'd allow more drama, especially in Seiji or Meijin matches, since it would be totally possible for them to lose one fight and still stay in the tournament.

But alas, that's talking about hypotheticals that wouldn't happen. It doesn't, nor will it ever, get unlimited episodes. It's Gundam, not... *scans brain* Any Shonen manga ever.

People often say that it's preferable to get a bronze over a silver.

There's no "Second Place" or "Third Place" at Koshien. There is only the Championship winning team! Everyone else can just get over it and get ready for next year. :P

And it's often for third place match in World Cup to be totally heartless.

However, the main reason why i don't think we will see it is from storytelling POV, it add nothing to plot, character, or world building.

Isn't Gawain(The Devil Gundam pilot), the "runner-up" in the 6th World Championship?

Re: The Official Gundam Build Fighters Anime Thread Mk IV

You both wrong. Runner up in the 2nd tournament. Official site backs me up on this.

I could see a 3rd place match if for nothing else then to show off

F91 Imagine could fire beams out of its mouth.
Didn't the F91 do that in its movie too?
That wasn't exactly a beam, the mouth plate opened in the movie to expel heat for the bio computer and in the film I guess it was ejecting another afterimage of itself so the Lafressia mobile armor could attack its own cockpit. That scene never made much sense to me.

Probably Julian's mod. His F91 seems to be able to do all the F91 anime's power-up without opening the mouth [his own special mod].

Judging from the preview, it looks like Sei and Reiji will face off in a friendly battle. It seems Sei was able to sneak in some practice between matches and fixing his Gunpla over and over again.

Well... let's hope we don't rip off Yu-Gi-Oh!'s ending and have Sei beat Reiji with Build Mk-2 as a send-off to him going back to Arian.

Of course not. If we'd compare GBF and Yugioh, I'd say that Meiji Kawaguchi/Tatsuya would be like a lighter, calmer version of Seto Kaiba.

Well damn. As I'd expected we get a glorious happy episode before a monster cliffhanger promising much darkness.

23 is by far the greatest episode of this series IMO. There are just wayyyy too many feels with this episode.

also,
Spoiler
It's pleasantly surprising how we see the most out of the Build MK.II's capabilities when Sei pilots it.
Still waiting on seeing those tears of time.
