Cyber-newtypes can have happy endings. ;u;
Why do people keep calling Aila a cyber newtype ? She has a natural prediction ability of close to ninety percent, if anything she is just an enhanced newtype and not a modified cyber newtype.
When we say Aila is a cyber-newtype, we're not referring to her in-universe ability, but the fact that she fits into the role of most cyber-newtypes had in the Gundam franchise: a love interest to the main character, who often have enhanced psychic power and tragic past that are exploited by malicious entities, which usually died to increase the main character's angst.

Dance or no dance, I have to agree. They spent ten episodes developing this relationship and it finally comes to a head in 20 and 21. While I agree that the fight okay at best, I also agree with Destiny Gundam:
Destiny_Gundam wrote:Never before in Gundam has the relationship with a cyber-newtype equivalent been done this well (come to think of it, it's never really been done that well at all).
The more I think about it, the more I realize that this relationship is arguably the strongest and most memorable out of all the various 'ships in the franchise. Yes, even exceeding Domon and Rain in my opinion. Too often we see relationships either shoehorned and rushed or needlessly dragged out with little development for the bond or the characters. Here, it never felt like it took over the show, but it was never forgotten either. With Aila and Reiji both being stubborn lovable idiots finally being able to get past the issue of Aila wanting to hide her identity and the Embody system, the payoff here was amazing.

My favorite line has to be from our Italian Stallion again: "I told him to enjoy the battle, not flirt his way through it."

On other points...

Before anyone spews out hate regarding that gem elsewhere, I wanna say that was an awesome callback. A risky gamble given that Sei and China had no idea it'd even work, but within the context of the show it makes sense if we remember back to episode one. What I'm more interested in is what buisness the Chairman has holding one if it does anything, and exactly why he's so terrified of Reiji winning the championship. Also - Arian von Reiji Asuka? Yeah, I'm sticking to Reiji. :P

Xenosynth wrote:I liked how they ended up resolving the fight and getting around the embody system.
Same here, I do like how they explained just how Aila's power works, and through it why she quickly grew sick and tired of Gunpla Battle. Before, I did sympathize with her, but I always felt a bit like "yo, you get to play games for a damn living, you got it pretty good." That started to falter with Nemesis cranking up the Embody system - and fell outright with testing and fighting nearly every day according to Aila. You play a video game for hours on end, you're gonna start getting a headache. And with a giant LCD with trippy graphics right in front of your eyes? Youch.
Kuruni wrote:BTW, now RG Knuckle become full T-Link Knuckle, completely with R-1's style dynamic kill.
At this point, I don't mind the RG Knuckle that much - it's more or less turned into the Star Build Strike's signature move. I do find it to be a shame though that it's overshadowed the Discharge systems and Absorb Shield at this point though. Granted, it makes pragmatic sense that people would adapt quickly to it, but we see Speed Mode used all of two times, Rifle Mode used once, and we never see Aqua. Given that Aila's Papillion uses funnels, I was hoping maybe we'd see one of them used again, but alas. Minor nitpick on my point.

So next ep is Exia vs F91 - Pretty sure our boy's using the Exia, which seems to be an odd choice to me - Yuuki!Meijin always seemed to be more of a gunslinger kind of dude, with both the Zaku Amazing and Kampfer Amazing. He can do close combat sure, but the Exia feels like it's the opposite of what his best talents lie. What do you guys think?

They mentioned that they customized the Exia into the "strongest Gunpla in history", so they could very well have reworked its weapons loadout to accommodate more ranged weapons.

Gunblades, maybe? Are we going to have Seven Sword cross with Magnificent Seven? Or sword beams?

Alternatively, it could be a look at issues when builders and fighters aren't a good match, if the builder has an ideal that doesn't play to the fighter's strengths. Maybe that'd be why the Exia gets customized into Dark Matter, to better match his style? I dunno, I'm just grasping at straws.

Or Yuuki (he wasn't wearing the shades in the preview) might just change his fighting style for the last four episodes. One more possibility is that Yuuki going gunslinger would be something like, "I'm stronger unarmed" sort of thing - though that'd be dangerously far towards absurd Shonen territory, which Build Fighters seems to skim the edges on but never fully dive into.

I really like how they resolved the ReijixAila. I also liked Fellini calling Reiji on his anger and how childish it was to let that be your only motivator. Looking forward to the next one, looks like it'll hit close to home for the Meijin.

Re: The Official Gundam Build Fighters Anime Thread Mk IV

On the two unknowns on the cameo list, the first appears to be Char's Gelgoog in the scene. (The 2nd BTW, is the Leopard Destroy on the G-Falcon, not the DX.) Also the first "Murasame" is a regular Zeta in waverider mode. As for the 2nd of your unknowns, I have no idea either. :(

It kinda annoys me when I come here to find that most if not all of my feelings have been typed out already. Then I have nothing to say. Well, Reiji commenting before the battle that he doesn't have an answer yet so he's just not going to think at all was perfect for the situation.

And EVERYONE's (save Kirara and Felini) O_O reaction afterward turned things around 180 for good in that moment.

The red mobile suit might possibly be a Gelgoog Jager. Its a bit difficult to tell at that size. The second unknown looks like a CQUE. you can see the side vent on the torso, the binders in the back are roughly the same along with the shoulder shape. Also seeing the Papillon taunt in an actual image just makes me laugh all over again.

I really hope that Aila is set up with a job working with Takeshi xD Could be a bit weird for her to stay with the Ioris. At the same time though, I hope mamachan is understanding towards Aila's problem.

Or, we have someone ELSE Takeshi has to worry about when everyone comes home from the tournament. I get a distinct feeling Rin-chan won't be the only one busting his balls to clean up after himself :P

He's been proficient with both, but yeah, giving him the Exia Dark Matter now feels weird. If anything, this should be the Kampher Amazing's go out in a blaze of glory moment, with Exia Dark Matter showing up for the final battle.

This episode seriously made me laugh so hard I had a side splint for like five minutes. :D

Also, I'm pretty sure that white Unidentified MS is actually the Sinanju Stein.

Yukari: (Which lies and schemes are she talking about? It's hard to keep track of them all...)

Re: The Official Gundam Build Fighters Anime Thread Mk IV

Awesome episode. It hit all the right notes and because of that, who cares if the battle wasn't straight up mecha porn? I sure don't.

Um...pardon my stupidity, but exactly where did this guy in the battle for next week come from? It appears that he's another contestant, but he seems to be important if he's compared to the Meijin. I guess I haven't been paying attention, but I am 99.9% sure we haven't seem him in the tournament before.

Anyone care to shed some light on this subject for me?

I was thinking CGUE or a white Sinanju, forgot about the Stein. Sadly, it's so hard to make it out.

Supposedly from this.
I'm pretty sure this is him.

Also, given the fact that Yuuki isn't wearing his Meijin shades I'm going to guess that the battle is unofficial.

I don't think they have time for unofficial battles. That guy is the last of the top 4.

I actually don't care for Yuuki using either the Kampfer or the Exia for the sole fact that he didn't build them himself. I'm surprised he even agreed to use stuff he didn't make.
