Well, presumably, that's what this is. The manga IS the same story - it even looks identical, since the artist/writer is Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, the guy who did the character designs and a lot of key storyboards for the original series. There are little tweaks here and there, like Jaburo occurring before Odessa and the Guntank and Guncannon being old MS models, but overall it's very faithful and would be the sort of "reboot" you're talking about (kind of; THE ORIGIN doesn't change anything that really affects later series, which is why it's more of a remake than a reboot). I'm a huge fan of the manga; it's the best of the series and the best of the movies with none of their weaknesses, so if the anime does it justice at all, that's what we're in for.Tangerine wrote:why not just a simple higher animation big budget reboot.
But anyways, my point was, if those flashback bits DO get animated, you'll get an official depiction of Char forming his identity and getting close to Garma, just like you want.
