New alternate-history robot show: Vandetta

http://www.vandetta.jp/
The pilot episode of Thumbnail's new series is on air in Japan yesterday. Its background is set in an alternate 1940s when Japan joined the Allied side and fought with Germany over Northeast China. Humanoid weapons called MAs are deployed, and the Heroine Yashima Rain brought her supernatural powers to the battlefield.
Although the story sounds likeCode Geass or Full Metal Deamon Muramasa, mecha design a bit awkward, this show at least gives us something to chew on before Sunrise release Gundam Origin.

Re: New parallel-history robot show : Vandetta

I was hoping for something more dieselpunk-ish in the costume & mecha design, but I'll watch it anyways.

At least some of them are, like the vaccum tubes inside Rain's robot and all those wires around. The German units are quite like Tsurugis in Muramasa's world.

If only Sam Neill was actually involved. Then this show might have gotten me to watch it.

Looking at the website and nothing else, this is probably the best looking/most interesting of the new mecha IPs this season--maybe in a while, even. (Until we see more of Tomino's intriguing new IP, "G-Reko"). Vandetta appears to be a bigger-budget take on "Gunparade March" mixed with "Night Raid 1931"...though I can't say whether it'll work or not yet without looking at more of it.

From what was recently reported on ANN...it seems they're not entirely sure about making more than just the pilot episode "0" at this point, so I wouldn't try to get my hopes up before they announce a full series.

Yeah, they might spent their whole budget on CVs.
