Something about her characterization in recent episodes just makes her come off as completely pitiful and weak willed, throwing her resolve and past development completely out the window. I actually enjoyed watching her and Argos Flight constantly butting heads because of cultural and philosophical differences, but it seems now she's just content with just going along with what the others do.
In the US, we call this "poor character execution."
In Nippon, we call this "tsundere."
She definitely has had feelings for him since extended beach episode 8. The cannon that she had brought to protect him from the front lines was clearly meant to protect him, and not to test out the weapon. You would already call that out of character for when she introduced the weapon itself to Yuuya and he replied that it did not fit with the philosophy of TSF development. I assume the first-name aspect went over his head as he's clearly "not a Japanese" and therefore does not realize that using first names is the equivalent of relationship development in Japanese culture!
Also, Yuuya has no lights in the romance department. The last anime I watched where it made my brain hurt so much was probably Love Hina.
Random question. TSFs, do they fall under the jurisdiction of Army/Air Force/Navy? I know they refer to it often as the Army, but TSFs do fly. I'm not familiar with pre-WWII military, so I assume that it may be the IJA Air Service?
