Gundam: Searching For Avenir (???)

I was looking through a list of obscure Gundam novels and manga when I came across something called Searching For Avenir. It was a novel published in three parts between 1995 and 1996, and was written by our good pal Yoshiyuki Tomino.

At first I thought it wasn't even related to Gundam at all, but it does apparently have Mobile Suits and seems to be set in Von Braun City. Couldn't get much else from Google Translate, but there's a summary here down the page if you wanna give it a try. It also says that this may have been the inspiration for Turn A...

Anybody has any clue as to what this is about?

Supposedly the plot deals with some strange robot appearing out of the blue or something. That was all I could muster up.

Near as I can tell, it's not really Gundam at all. It was penned by Tomino and takes place in the 21st Century, apparently. The reason why it gets lumped into "Gundam" is because Anaheim, Von Braun and Minovsky particle are all mentioned.

If memory serves, it was less that and more "Robot appears suddenly with no one knowing what it is and where it came from and scaring the entire world".

Or something like that.
