I know half the episode took place in the midst of Neo Zeon, but I'm really hoping that this doesn't devolve into a Zeon fanwank where the Federation are really the bad guys and Neo Zeon the real hopes and dreams of the Spacenoids. Shades of grey is what Gundam should be about.

Don't worry about that; from what i can gather from the novels, Neo Zeon definitely play the game as dirty as the Federation, and no more a good guy than federation is.
