In the bowels of the Cynthia, where Darius Raines' howls couldn't be heard, Shema completed the incident report. Upon filing it, Shema looked to the oblong box there. There's a certain futility to expecting effectiveness from that which does not work toward effect.

Finishing his chocolate milk, Michael threw his glass away and gave a quiet goodbye to Winry before deciding to head back to the workout room to get some exercise. It was always good to expend pent up energy after a battle like that. His thoughts, however, were on Carrah.

She had taken a beating out in the field, and had not spoken to anyone since she came back. Michael knew that John hadn't come back after the call to retreat, and had been possibly shot down. The primary reason he wanted to find her was to let her know she wasn't alone.

But that would have to wait for the moment. For now, Michael Alvaaron hid his feelings and began walking down to the exercise room.

Copernicus Harbor
Cynthia Infirmary to Bridge

When Darius pulled himself free, Marcus raised his arms to cover his face. He mentally kicked himself for telling the man about Duke's death, but he had figured that the injuries would've kept Raines in his bed. But he hadn't anticipated the adrenaline rush that the news apparently brought Raines, nor his stupidity in trying to move around in his condition. He quickly went into the corridor and looked around. Thankfully, there were only so many places that Darius could've gone on the Cynthia, and the blood globules and the man's shouts made it relatively easy to track him down.

As soon as he had caught up with Darius, he moved in front of him. Though before that point in time he'd kept a calm expression on his face, he was clearly quite irratated at the injured Red coat. When he spoke, his voice showed the irritation, though there was a hint of concern mixed in. Though Raines wasn't exactly the best leader, he didn't deserve to get kicked out or whatever the consequence would be for going off on a superior officer like Granzi.

"Are you trying to commit career suicide? It's not Commander Granzi's fault, if that's what you're thinking, an-and...screaming at her's only going to accomplish getting you assigned to a base in the middle of nowhere! Hell, you're lucky she wasn't here! Look at you! You're not even supposed to be moving around, much less going on a tirade! If you keep this up, your injuries will never heal, and Duke's death will have been in vain! So for the love of God, get back to the infirmary!"
REGENE: (Grins) Any last words, Buuuuur-ing?
(Bring just grits his teeth and the Garazzo’s escape pod breaks off from its main body, flying straight up.)
REGENE: (Shakes head) Right then. Forgot we don’t talk on Planet You.

It had been an over an hour since he arrived in the exercise room, and Michael had used almost every piece of equipment at his disposal. Thanks to his Coordinator physiology, he wasn't really that tired. Having exercised all his anger at possibly losing a teammate, Michael decided to call it quits for using the exercise room, and after getting his gray sleeveless tank top back on, began walking down to the observation room with uniform jacket slung over his left shoulder.

The room that could stare out into space was almost like a second home to the lonely young man. Truth be told, Michael didn't bond with anyone during his time here because he'd lost almost all his friends during the war, and he was afraid he'd lose many more to war. So, to make sure he didn't feel the pain again, Michael would shield himself from others. To be lonely was just an expected side effect. But he sensed that Carrah could be feeling the same way because of those 'rumors'.

Walking into the observation lounge after a long walk, Michael collapsed into one of the comfortable leather chairs as he stared out into the stars yet again. Tired and exhausted from his first time in combat since Jachin Due, Michael Alvaaron just wanted to get some good sleep. But that damn woman was on his mind...

Hector Acting as he had too much alcohol left the briefing room. When he was a few feet away he dropped the act and continued to walk, his face was not that of a pervert in which he portrayed so well, but a look of seriousness.

'Wonder whats happening with those animals back home, wonder if they killed each other already' thought Hector walking randomly. He then walked up to the observation lounge.

When he saw Micheal he smiled as if a idea hit him. 'Yeah he can probably give me an answer, after all he saw more s*** then I did' thought Hector. "Errr Micheal I know you don't like me stuff, but I have a question and think your probably the only one who can answer it... you game?" asked Hector hoping the older male would help him out.

"Ah, Hector. Well, that depends on the question, but I'll try to answer it as best I can. Just make sure it isn't perverted," Michael finished chuckling as he walked over to the nearby drink machine and got himself a Mountain Dew Voltage. "Finest kind," he said as he popped the top of the can and took a sip.

"Thanks man, it hit me like after the war, at the start I was so afraid to Sortie so I kept getting transferred till they stationed me this middle of nowhere patrol" said Hector with a uncertain grin.

"But during there it was like I found home, a family. since my biological ma and pa were bastards hope hey died, I was calm around them like those guys became my real brothers, you know how that feels right? so here I am thinking its never going to end we live out our military career and open up a chain of bars and stuff" said Hector with his grin falling.

"But this the thing there all dead and I am alive, and crazy thing is when I launch I cant bring myself to care, even now even if I die I wouldn't care, I know deep down inside I want to care due to instincts and all, but I don't feel it the want to make sure one hundred percent I come back" said Hector chuckling a little.

"So my question is how do you do it? How can you keep on caring knowing there all dead and your not?.... sorry if I was babbling a lot" said Hector looking at the wall in a embarrassed way.

Smiling at Hector, Michael said, "You know, this is the first time I look at you and know why you read those hentai books. Well, if you want an answer, I think you should know my military record from the start...if just to understand why I'm so serious," he finished as he took a sip of the MD Voltage.

"My first battle...was at Junius Seven on Valentine's Day, CE 70. I was there when the Roosevelt unleashed that Moebius from hell, turned that entire colony into a spectacle of hell. My back and the scars on it are a testament to that," Michael interrupted as he took off his tank top and revealed to Hector his back, littered with various forms of burn scarring.

"After weeks upon weeks of therapy to clear me for duty, I was sent back out to the front lines. To many pilots I served with, I was considered lucky to have walked away from Junius Seven. By the time those Strike Daggers were out, the Alliance feared me because I had become ZAFT's unbeatable ship killer with over 28 destroyed ships to my credit. I had also made many friends...who would just end up dying either at JOSH-A, Boaz or Jachin Due," Michael said sadly, reflecting on the good times intertwined with the bad and worse.

"I was one of those who fought at both Porta Panama and Victoria, but I didn't slaughter any defenseless troops. I was more humane than that, I killed in battle. It was after Boaz and before Jachin Due that I didn't think ZAFT was worth fighting for if all it would lead to was death for all. But...when you're threatened with death, you don't have a choice do you. With my GuAIZ, I engaged Alliances forces indiscriminately. However, it was after I saw what good those three ships did that I retired from the battlefield. I helped to clean up the mess, and arrested for treason. This team, however, became my alternative to a court martial," Michael said, finishing and getting his tank top back on.

"I saw a lot of good friends die in that war, so I decided that to never have to feel the pain again, I needed to let them go and rest in peace. So I did, and I haven't looked back since. I also decided that I wouldn't be outgoing anymore, because I couldn't help to lose another friend to war. When I go out into the battlefield, it's thinking about those who are dead that give me strength, both friend and foe. I can still care because I have let go of them, let their souls rest. When you let go, perhaps you'll understand like I did."

"Yeah thats why being a perv is easy sometimes no one wants to be friends with them... Also I read these books cause J.V. used to be the original author of the series before Jachin and Greta took over" said Hector towards the comment why he a perv.

After that joke to get out of seriousness he listened to every word Micheal said, he hung on every word as if a sage was telling him the stuff. After Michele finished Hector closed his eyes. "Way stronger then I am then, its too hard to let go or maybe thats a excuse and don't want to let go, cause I'm afraid" he said.

"But thanks Micheal, sometimes wish life was easier like back then where I only needed three square meals a day, a bed, and pay at the end of the month" said Hector looking at the ceiling.

"Do me a favor Micheal don't want my rep tarnished, so don't tell anyone I can hold a intelligent none perverted conversation... hehehe life easier when I just smile like an idiot and giggle at my novels" said Hector letting on a lazy grin and yawn.

"Sometimes, letting go of the pain and moving on takes longer for some than for others. When a solid peace comes around, perhaps you can let go of your pain. Besides, if I let word loose that you were more than a pervert, then the fun of looking at Winry's face every time she sees you would be gone," Michael snickered as he finished his MD Voltage.

"You need advice from me again, you can find me in either my quarters, the mess hall, the observation lounge or the exercise room. So, what kind of hentai do you read, per se? I'm just asking out of curiousity."

This is useless. I can't just sit here and mope about what went wrong and what I failed to do, Carrah says in her head. Honestly, sitting alone in her room isn't going to help the morale of the Helga crew, even if they are to disband when they get to their destination.

She's a bit hungry. Carrah goes out of her room and starts to look for team members first. Seeing the lounge empty, she goes to the observation room. She hears talking, so she heads in that direction. Maybe, just to let the others know she hasn't committed suicide yet and still in relatively good shape and mentally stable. She wants to tell them something, in case their spirits are down as well.

Apparently, not so down anymore.

"Guys, you---" Carrah says.

"---observation lounge or the exercise room. So, what kind of hentai do you read, per se? I'm just asking out of curiousity."

Carrah gasps at Michael's question, and blushes, thinking he's the last guy to be buddy-buddies with Hector with that kind of thing.

She continues, "---are obviously... okay. Erm, I just finished the report, and... yeah." Quickly turning 180 and walking towards the cafeteria, she walks out not because of her antisocialism but giggling and a bit shocked.

Hector laughed hard at the comment about Winry. "Hahaha yeah we cant have that can we, after all most my time is spent on ways too annoy the female populace" said Hector flashing a toothy grin.

"Yeah sure man you seem to have all the answers better then talking to a Shrink, cause if I did they label me unfit for combat, ahhh where to start well so far there are twenty-four novels first eleven written by the original author my old squad leader, so the others aren't as great as the original" said Hector as if explaining the bible.

"But the best stories was the five book saga the first five in the entire series, it was about this ZAFT soldier during the war, the first book before the war he met this natural chick and the rest detailed writing of their week love before he was called back to the plants to fight" said Hector going into explination mode.

"But sorta sad ending he fights here in book two she being a mobius pilot, he a CGUE, sad talk and kills her after she attempts to kill a female squad mate... err you should just read it there actually more story driven then average porn" said Hector scratching the back of his head.
---------
Hector stopped "Awww but Carrah stay a little longer and grace us with your beauty, promise I'll keep my mouth shut" said Hector in a sing sing voice smiling with a glint in his eyes.

"Hmm, sounds interesting, not your typical hentai novels," Michael said laughing as he walked over to the soda machine and got himself and Hector two cans of MD Voltage. "Hey, Hector, want a drink? I promise ya, finest kind."

Suddenly, Carrah walked in and suddenly began walking out. This was his chance to perhaps get to know her better. It was risky, but then again Michael Alvaaron was the kind for taking risks. "Carrah, wait. Before you walk off in obvious confusion, I wanted to ask you if you would be interested in a date with me."

"WHAT THE HELL MAN..." Josh muttered when he realized that Hector disappeared. Granted that he wasn't quite in the mood to talk to anyone, it was still messed up to be the contraband provider and suddenly disappear.

So with only three shots in his system (not quite enough to get someone like him wasted...), he left the room. Some of it has relieved his nerves a bit... so he was in a better mood than before. He just has to make sure this doesn't become a habit.

"Knowing my luck it probably will..." he snorted. "Just remember to only get s***faced off-duty..."

He was just down the hall when he overheard a trio of voices talking about some random stuff, one of which was Hector's. Not interested in a discussion on porn, he continued towards the bridge.

Carrah was already a number of steps away, trying to avoid the scene.

She just shouts playfully in response to Micahel's proposal out of nowhere, "Noooo, nooo waaay mannn!!!! ♥"

"But I could use a body or two to accompany me for lunch," calling out to the fellow pilots, as she sits down and opens up a plastic box with her homemade chicken spaghetti, and a bottle of water.

"Sure, better than nothing," Michael said nonchalantly as he grabbed his uniform jacket and followed Carrah down to the mess hall. Shuddering at the chicken spaghetti she had with her for a brief moment, he brought the unopened can of MD Voltage with him over to the table where she sat while he got some food to digest.

Michael ended up getting some chicken strips with a small cup of ketchup, a batch of freshly cooked french fries with some salt sprinkled over them, and some onion rings. Walking back to the table where Carrah was sitting, Michael sat down on the opposite side and opened up his can of MD Voltage and took a sip before taking a french fry and popping it in his mouth, savoring the taste.

"So, I guess you were pretty freaked out by that statement, yes? Well, let's just say I've decided to unwind. By the way, since I may not get another chance to say this, I find you to be quite attractive. I'm surprised you haven't gotten any real suitors."

"No thanks threes a crowd and need some sleep" said Hector as he walked out towards the sleeping quarters. When he rounded the corner he clutched his side for it was in pain signifying the painkillers affects waring off.

He pulled out a small pill bottle of painkillers and took four out. He then popped the pills in and drank them without any liquid beside saliva. When he made it to his room he collapse on the bed going to sleep.

"Heeey what's that supposed to mean?!?" Carrah shouts at Hector.

In response to Michael, Carrah simply responds, "Yeah, I get that alot, heh"

...

"So, it doesn't seem like we just fought off a bunch of enemies, I think we're still going forward, or so I hope. I'm not really most comfortable when the commander says nothing about the situation," Carrah says. True, a few hours after their return from the skirmish there was no new reports to them of what had just happened, and who those guys were.

"Shema Granzi isn't the kind to exactly comfort her troops after a hard battle. She's probably writing up a report on the engagement like she always does. Granzi is a military brat, pure and simple. She's too cold to actually inspire confidence in pilots like me and Hector," Michael said as he took one of the chicken strips and engulfed it.

"And Carrah, I was serious about wanting to go on a date with you. I don't know about you, though. I know you have a low opinion of me because of what I did at Jachin Due..." he said, trailing off.
