This is actually a tough one. Until Casino Royale hit, Sean Connery was the man. But now, I must say, Daniel Craig was amazing. The two are almost neck and neck in my opinion. Pierce Brosnan, George Lazenby, Timothy Dalton, and Roger Moore are next, in that order. Moore is just too much of a sissy IMHO. Looks to me like he's always afraid of getting dirty or touching something icky.
I like them all, really. They all bring something different to the table, and they bring their own flavor to the role. Connery is the man's man, the classic man who won't bat an eye at anything and believes women belong either in the kitchen or in the bedroom. Moore is a charmer, able to diffuse any situation with his smooth wit. Dalton is the everyman, bringing things back down to earth after some of Moore's more (pardon the pun) outlandish films. Brosnan exhibited excellent range, looking at home just as much in a tux as in a tank. For his first film I thought Craig rocked. He flys all over the place in some of the best action scenes the franchise has ever seen AND he does a fantastic job in some of the most emotional scenes as well, without spoiling I'll say he did better dealing with his loss than George Lazenby in OHMSS. I cant wait for his next Bond film.
A hero need not speak. When he is gone, the world will speak for him.
1. Daniel Craig. Gritty, badass, yet vulnerable, and with a sharp sense of humor too.
2. Timothy Dalton. Truest to the original novels. Pity he got so few movies.
3. Sean Connery. Gotta hand it to him for being the first, though too campy IMHO. But still, he had the best cars for the most part.
Lazenby was static, and Moore was a randy pansy. Brosnan was more along the lines of Inspector Gadget with a gun than an actual Bond, IMHO. Far, far too focused on the gadgets.

I have a good reason to revive this thread instead of starting a new one..
I just picked up Casino Royale widescreen. As far as special things go, it's few and far between, but there are two nice documentaries that tell the story of how Craig became the next bond and won out over Brosnan. Oh, and the sound quality is fracking SCHWEETZ!
I love the gunfire in the movie..it sounds as if it's going off nearby, and I don't even have surround sound.
Who else plans to pick up the movie and see what Craig/Science has done to the Bond franchise?

I saw the movie when it came out a few months back and loved it, so when it came out on DVD not that long ago, I picked it up (Or rather, the two disc, Widescreen version that had some other stuff with it) and oddly enough, watched it again today. All told, good stuff.
I must betray Stalindog!!!

Personally, I always liked Pierce Brosnan's portrayal of Bond. He really brought out the cold, dark killer in him. This especially shows when he kills Elektra King RIGHT after she says, "You wouldn't shoot an unarmed woman!" (or something of that noise.)
"I'd show Loni the power my parents gave me if you know what I mean."
