There was a comic of this?
To be honest I had figured this to be taken straight from the actual event itself as well and I kind of found the historical inaccuracy stuff in the previews kind of confusing.
But now that I know about it, it sort of puts it all into perspective for me. But regardless of whether I know it to be an adaptation of a comic book or not, I still think it will be an awesome movie.
Actually I think it could be MORE enjoyable for me now

Saturday 7:15, right after "The History of the Devil" at the local playhouse gonna be a busy day. The badass Spartans rise AGAIN!!!!
"Long ago there were some who were considered mobile suit specialists, who were refered to as Newtypes. They were pretty much the most miserable lot of individuals you could imagine." Birgit, F91.
in reality tho the 300 spartans had about 2500-5000 support troops but the 300 were the elite warriors tho. and if anyone remembers the last samurai they talked about the battle of thermopolae and how the spartans ended up "dead to the last man" was one hell of a fight tho im sure.

Um, that's Mark Millar writing Civil War, not Frank Miller. Frank also wrote the first drafts of Robocop 2 & 3, but subsequent rewrites made the script virtually unrecognizable which made Frank give up on Hollywood until recently.kfrooster wrote:Frank Millar hasn't had a bad track record when it comes to movies yet. However... he did mess up Civil War though.
lmfao, i love you now phantomexe, marry me?Phantomexe87 wrote:We Greeks should make a movie based off of the Alamo and make it extremely historically innacurate, just to get hollywood back for this, and that joke they call Troy. I don't care what it is based off of, Hollywood needs to leave Greece alone, what did we ever do to them to deserve "Alexander"?
the war was mindless bloodshed, just like every war back then. they can keep the movie historically accurate and still kill thousands of people. and if it is just about mindless bloodshed, why not just keep it historically accurate? less stuff to rewrite.Imperial wrote: Go see it for the mindless bloodshed and check your brain at the door. honestly whoever made the comic book should be shot. worse then the pearl harbor movie that came out a few years ago

i plan to see it, but for so reason i think i may disappointed. Love Frank Miller's stories and the Sin City movie, but for some reason i got a bad feeling about this movie.

Frank wrote the comic... The movie is an adaptation of the graphic novel which only used the historical facts as a base.ORegan wrote:[

It's not suppose to be an historic reenactment...

yeah, its his vision of the story. The graphic novel is not a history book.attonbitus wrote:Frank wrote the comic... The movie is an adaptation of the graphic novel which only used the historical facts as a base.ORegan wrote:[

doesn't matter if its an 'writer's interpratation' it still sucks.
and didn't people jsut call it a comic book? stop calling it a noval, noval's dont have pictures involving guys talking with bubbles to tell the story
nope, and batman has nothing to do with spartans, so why bring it up?You obviously never read Batman: Dark Knight Returns...

What constitutes a graphic novel is determined by it's length. A comic book can wrap it's story up in about 30 or so pages. In contrast, a graphic novel uses 300 or so pages.
Edit:
Why? Because it's not historically accurate? I suppose that Crime and Punishment should be cast out of society because it's not historically accurate. Or how about 2001: A Space Odessy? We've passed 2001 and we still don't have all of the technology in that movie. Should we then cast it out because it's not historically accurate?doesn't matter if its an 'writer's interpratation' it still sucks.
Edit:
Because Frank Miller wrote it.nope, and batman has nothing to do with spartans, so why bring it up?
G,and proberlly everyone else here asking me about books i've read, i dont read books, just to clear it up.
and no if they had some things historically inaccurate it'd be fine, but this one over did it. there is a fine line between historically inaccurate and complete and utter bull**** IMO, any idiot with a pen can sit there and write stuff. seriously, a ogre looking guy who looks like sloth from the goonies and a giant rhino dont fit in with the whole greek city-states vs persain empire theme that it is rootly based on. elephants yes, rhinos no

"any idiot with a pen can sit there and write stuff"? That just... damn... I can't add anything else... though the no reading thing explains a lot.ORegan wrote:G,and proberlly everyone else here asking me about books i've read, i dont read books, just to clear it up.
