Oricon interview of Tomino for Gundam 40th Anniversary

https://www.oricon.co.jp/special/52812/ ... O-OhOQ0LpM
The "toy store sponsor is the enemy" is a persecution complex.

Haven't actually read the whole thing, but the title is basically refuting himself about the interview made by Newtype magazine in April 1989's issue, where he said his enemy is the sponsor.
And the paragraph quoting this sentence doesn't seem like he is self mocking, but simply completely forgot his own views back then.

Second part with him stating Bandai doesn't know how weapons work, he doesn't know he is the one that is incorrect.
You don't need to have MS operating for hours and days, and put toilets and tons of life support in it. No one does so for real life fighters. (Ok, maybe one or two, I know the Su-34 has a toilet and Kitchenlette on it, but it is no ordinary fighter role aircraft)
That is why we have aircraft carriers.
He might still be thinking of the sweat shop style WWII Japanese Zero type fighters, where they put pilots to fly for 8 hours without a toilet or rest. We have came a long way from that and it is only the Japanese who did this anyway.(To strain the fighters to fly for 8 hours, they need to put fuel in the wings and that is where most bullets hits.)

So, any news of him working on that G-Reconguista movie?

I would so suggest you to just fit this sentence into Google translate: 現在富野監督が製作されている劇場版アニメ『ガンダム Gのレコンギスタ』に登場するMSには、コクピットにトイレが設置されています。

For real?! (Though I wouldn't be surprise with Tomino.)

... you mean you didn't know?
Spoiler
Yes, there is an honest-to-goodness flush toilet built into the pilot's seat on the YG-111 G-Self. The chair's cushion flips up to reveal it. And, of course, since Chekhov's Gun can't go unfired we're subjected to a scene where Bellri has to go #2.. while he's not the only person in the cockpit. Like any properly oversophisticated Japanese toilet, it even plays an obnoxious tune for auditory privacy... which does nothing to diminish the visual horror of Yoshiyuki Tomino forcing his audience to watch the protagonist go BM in a cockpit full of people, wipe, and flush.

If, for some reason, you want to actually see the line art for how the toilet works, you can find it on page 28 of the Akira Yasuda Gundam Design Works book.

Yes, we're working on updates...
