Within a decade, according to Lockheed-Martin, we could have a working prototype of a compact fusion reactor.
If it turns out, which seems inevitable at this point, this would be a huge deal.
For instance, while we may not get the mobile suits, we could see space development within our lifetimes. Pretty sweet, no?

I swear I'm the only one to think this- please no mobile suits till we colonize space...Kenji wrote:Within a decade, according to Lockheed-Martin, we could have a working prototype of a compact fusion reactor.

Hey, I'm all for it.
There's the possibilities it opens up for space development, the geopolitical consequences, the way it can change people's lives. I'm not even sure how far the ways it can change our way of life extend, but it seems at least as potentially significant as when we learned we could burn coal or petroleum to turn a steam turbine.
If anything, the lack of excitement (in general) seems kinda disquieting, but maybe it's because I'm letting myself get too excited? After all, a working prototype doesn't exist, yet...

Let's wait until the prototype exists. That, and as our world governments operate now, I just don't see them publicly endorsing something so world-changing as this may be. The implications are better left in one's head I think.Kenji wrote:Hey, I'm all for it.

After all, once Mobile Suits are massed produced... Please, let's have them once there's at least a lunar city and Jupiter explorations, so I can book my pass to another planet before someone decides to drop one of those expensive colonies.

Forget the regular RX-78. I want my Full Armor Thunderbolt spec RX-78 complete with desaturated red, white and blue color scheme.
