Behind the scenes information about SEED

https://twitter.com/gakky1967/status/14 ... 29189?s=20
Jun'ya Ishigaki quoted a (now deleted) tweet by CHOCO(involved in Xenosaga, Xenoblade, Infinity Stratos, Busou Shinki, etc. designs, official site: http://chocolateshop-float.com/ warning: 18+).
Stating he was asked by a producer to design enemy MS and started to sketch, then the director said he don't know if he will officially give him the job, and once the lead Gundam design contest have started, there were no further request. And that Gundam series became a big hit.
On a following tweet reply he said there was no formal apology from the producer.

Side note that might be of interest:
Search CHOCO "ターンエーガンダム" in google image search for the Turn A Type C-3 designs, the black and white version is the original Japanese doujin and the tri-coloured one with English text is the translated version printed in small number for Syd Mead.
To my knowledge he at lest got another design(type C-2) but probably because it is less cool it became really hard to find.

I don't know if the other one is a third design.

Completely irrelevant:
He liked my reply before deleting his post.(basically just a junk post saying his Turn A design was stylish.)

Back on topic:
CHOCO's original post said way back when Turn A was released and he made a doujin about it, some S company's F producer asked him to design MS, but he rejected the offer.

From these information, we can gather that the two were very likely talking about Sunrise's 9th Studio's producer Fumikuni FURUSAWA since SEED is after Turn A, we can be pretty sure about the work they are talking about.
Here is a list of anime he produced.

Studio 9 was not usually involved in producing Gundam, but at the time studio 3 was reorganising and thus studio 9 get to substitute it and later on Studio 9 luckily got to produce Aikatsu! and Battle spirits, thus later merged and split into Bandai Namco Productions A and B (A for Aikatsu and B for Battle spirits)

CHOCO's post was a pretty neutral one, probably saying how he made the idiotic decision to reject a Gundam job request, but Ishigaki is full on using that to vent his anger about the incident(likely why CHOCO deleted his post because he doesn't want to get involved) And it is quite understandable because this is not the only bad thing the producer and director did for the designers. The aforementioned Gundam competition and another MS competition were held back then, and I have a few designer friends who entered. The terms stated that the winners' designs will be used in the anime. Ended up to be very minor cameo freeze frame bonus and the whole competitions are more of a promotional campaign.

But I would very much like to see an anime with CHOCO's mechanical designs, too bad he rejected the Gundam offer.
