Good morning everyone,
I often find it helpful to have a size or scale reference since we don't always see starships in the same shot. We know the Dogosse Giar is big but just how big compared to the Argama or the Radish. For that purpose I usually refer back to this chart that I originally found on the GundamGuy blog. Very helpful for seeing just how big certain ships in relation to one another in the Universal Century.
I was curious if anyone has run across a similar size reference that contains other universes?
Like a chart that contains famous ships like the SDF-1 from Macross, the Arcadia from Captain Harlock, or any of the vessels for Space Battleship Yamato to compare them size-wise to any famous Gundam ships. I personally haven't had any luck finding something like this.

Macross has had quite a few over the years...Underrated GM Custom wrote: ↑Tue Jun 08, 2021 2:20 pm I was curious if anyone has run across a similar size reference that contains other universes?

There are several whole sheets in Macross Chronicle that are just size comparisons.
Then, of course, there's https://www.merzo.net/indexSD.html
Which used to be as close to a gold standard for inter-franchise comparisons as it got, though it has some areas of inaccuracy and is now no longer being updated.

Re: Starship Size Comparisons
Thank you for these, I had forgotten just how big Zentradi ships were. It's been a long time since I've seen Macross or DYRL, I'll had to add a rewatch to the list this year.
Merzo is a great resource, I managed to pick out a few Macross/Macross II entries but that seems to be all that I can find for anime ships.
Dare I ask what is the giant slug in the first link?

Studio Nue's mascot... a charicature of a Nue (a Japanese chimera) made up of the four cofounders own personal mascots: Takachiho's snake, Matsuzaki's cockroach, Miyatake's tanuki, and Katoh's vampire bat.Underrated GM Custom wrote: ↑Tue Jun 08, 2021 10:44 pm Dare I ask what is the giant slug in the first link?
He even makes a cameo in the original Macross TV series, on one of the buildings Hikaru crashes his VF-1D through.

I have expanded and modified that chart quite some time ago but sadly, the original host with the clearer picture was closed and I am left with the less resolution picture here.Underrated GM Custom wrote: ↑Tue Jun 08, 2021 2:20 pm Good morning everyone,

The Dogosse Giar I used a bridge comparison to the Birmingham to get the actual size of it(also compared with the in show Argama and Alexander drawn in the original line art) Since this picture was before Unicorn anime, I will have to note that General Revil is much bigger than it whether you use the bridge comparison or in show freeze frame bonus. (We talked about it in a thread here somewhere)
I also made this chart for the bigger things in Gundam some time ago.

Those are very handy charts, thanks! Luna II is smaller than I expected.
My goodness the Jupitris is quite big. I wonder what the crew size on that is.
Given the capacity of the Dolos in Gihren's Greed I had always assumed it would be massive, several times the size of White Base.

Well, Lunar II is Juno so it won't be bigger than it. The fun thing is the lower part seems to be excavated out and no longer existed.Underrated GM Custom wrote: ↑Wed Jun 09, 2021 4:29 pm Those are very handy charts, thanks! Luna II is smaller than I expected.

Dolos class size is big, but not as big as you think likely because it got such narrow protrusion that made the overall length to be something like 15% longer than the main hull. The 182 MS capacity is completely ridiculous, there are drawing out the inner bay of it and it must be filled to have almost no repair space to hold so many of them.

The Origin version is much larger: http://gif-futaba.info/2018/09/0a112b19 ... 7c51bf.jpg
Still better than the Columbus class cap of 50/100. Which I have drawn out for one of the discussion here:
https://truth.bahamut.com.tw/s01/201606 ... 419410.JPG
and the max I can squeeze in is 80 with a not very official but reasonable size of it drawn out. (the back section is shown to be not the dock area so I did not put any MS in it.)
These does not look like operational capacity and are just the maximum possible carrying capacity.

Re: Starship Size Comparisons
Thanks for the additional links, I've always been curious what the inside of a Dolos looks like. Also looks like it has more guns on it than stated.MythSearcher wrote: ↑Wed Jun 09, 2021 10:53 pm Dolos class size is big, but not as big as you think likely because it got such narrow protrusion that made the overall length to be something like 15% longer than the main hull. They certainly have them packed in there like Sardines. Perhaps there was no intent to have the Dolos perform standard functions like repair and it's only purpose was to mass move MS into the fight or back to a resupply base. An intersting gimmick but not unusual for late war Zeon.

Re: Starship Size Comparisons
Update on this one. I did come across a rather insanely dense chart for starship comparisons on deviantart. I believe you need a DA account to download the hi-res version.
