Shoji Kawamori's original GP03 proposal

Type A Silhouette Gundam and Type B Silhouette Armoured Gundam.

Apparently from Shoji Kawamori EXPO's Book: https://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B08M94YKQL/

There's more details to it: (Obviously people put stuff online)
https://tobiuo72.blog.fc2.com/blog-entry-2827.html?sp (There's also a Type C)

Thank goodness they used Katoki's design instead.

Side note, the original design for GP02A, Zeonic Gundam looks suspiciously like Sazabi.

Not being one to let a good design go to waste, the Type B looks like it was modified to become Battle 7 in Macross 7.

I guess its so rough that it looked like a lot of his later Macross related designs, but yeah, why let a good design go to waste.
While it doesn't really suit my taste as a design, the idea of having this fight the Neue Ziel in the show's climax actually sounds quite interesting in a silly way.

So, we've got another case of Kawamori recycling an old designs, but now it's not a VF.

It makes me wonder does he do the same thing with non-Macross shows? Like, is there anything from Aquarion, M3 or Jushinki Pandora that we have seen before?

Re: Shoji Kawamori's original GP03 proposal

The main mecha from M3 (I don't know the name and Daisuki isn't around anymore) looks very similar to the main Pandora unit and bears more than a striking resemblance to The Fool from Kawamori's kinda obscure Nobunaga The Fool, plus M3's Mass produced unit look kinda like a modified Destroid Monster. Aquarion seems to be a modified recolor of the same designs we see in Nobunaga and M3. That being said Escaflowne's mech's look quite different.

Oh, it's fairly likely.

Admittedly, Macross is kind of where Kawamori's misfit designs tend to land if they go unused elsewhere for too long.

Sousei no Aquarion predates Nobunaga the Fool and M3 by about 9 years.

Some of Kawamori's designs after 2005 have that Aquarion aesthetic.
