Well I would like to "fix" the Gundam Wing Gundams. For going to an all out war with the whole world, the gundams are designed pretty one dimensional if it comes to long and close range weaponry. And given that each Suit starts all alone in the middle of enemy Teretorry, they are using to specialised weapons, that are hardly field repairable. It'd be more fitting to make them all a bit well rounded and especially compatible with enemy weapon and maybe even spare parts. Even as a Team they seemed somewhat out of sync, if compared to other gundam Teams (like the GAT series in Seed). Those had special fields each, yet complemented each other. However it does not feel that well to me in Wing.

Honestly, I'd love to take a whack at fixing the f***ing G-Self.

Its head looks awful, and incredibly out of place compared to the rest of the body and even the rest of the designs from its native series.

You madman!

I love the G-Self's head and it's forward-pointed horns. Keep yer mitts off.

If I had to pick a suit to change, it'd be the classic Gouf. The machinegun fingers are a bit silly (the Custom model fixed that by making them a seperate wrist-mounted weapon), but my real beef is the heatrod. There's no obvious room to store it while it's retracted into the arm! I'd build a visually-obvious "drum" as part of the arm, which it could spool into.

seconded. i find the G-self's design refreshing in general.

i'd fix the Buster Gundam's overall design and armaments. for a long range unit its kinda underwhelming. more missiles and more guns for additonal options in ranged combat. oh and shell/bullet weapons too. i'd also add a melee weapon. as a certain Badass Admiral from a KanColle Doujin said:

"just because you fight with ranged weapons doesn't mean you won't find yourselves in close quarters combat."

actually, i'd recommend reading that doujin.

I actually do not, myself, have any problems with the Buster's long-range weapons - IMO, it's a decent mix of weapons, biased towards shell-firing artillery for fairly logical reasons. I suppose that if there is anything I would change, it would be to double up its cannons, with one pair backpack-mounted and the second handheld and stored on the hips. The one thing I would change is take a cue from the Buster Dagger and give it at least one, if not two beam sabers for close-quarter combat.

I also think the base Strike ought to have at least one beam saber as well.

While not really on my top favorite designs, the G-Self IMO looks great without the default backpack. In other words, I love the body design.

With it though, well.....*somethingsomethingAileStrikersomething*....but at least they covered the backpackless design partly in the show.

continuing on with SEED MS. Athrun's Justice. both versions. yet another Gundam with underwhelming weaponry. i'd also redesign the legs of the original justice. those were recycled from one of the Grunt suits.

I had much less of a beef with the Justice(s) personally than I did(and do) with the Aegis, myself.
I mean, to me it is baffling that the EA would've designed and built a VMS that is incapable of unassisted atmospheric flight.
That is really the one thing I would change myself, and actually one that was addressed in side-story material later with the Rosso Aegis, which is largely identical to its predecessor from what I can tell apart from the fact it is able to fly on its own.
That, and that god-awful pink color, which I would personally substitute for a proper red. Come to think of it, the same thing applies to both the Justice Gundams - red IMO would look much better than pink.

Barbatos 6th Form- no high heels

Double X Gundam- No side burns

Strike Freedom- No chest beam cannon. Something about the cannon's placement that just never sat well with me. Also get rid of the gold plated joints.

Speaking of Strike Freedom, as much as I despise that machine and its pilot, there is one thing that I find baffling, especially considering how easy it would be to fix.
Reverse the way the wings are mounted, with the DRAGOON units along the top of each unit, and the thrusters for the WoL along the bottom.
something like this, which IMO, would have made a lot more sense.

Unknown Gundam Frame from this month's IBO MSV. I love the design but I really dislike the staff so I will throw that away for....like a GN-XIII lance or something.

Maybe if they do release a 1/144 of it I would do just that in fact. Matching the color might be more difficult and require some painting on my part and I'm usually too lazy and don't have much time to do that these days.

More than simply correcting designs, I wish Okawara would get rid of that god-awful pose template he uses.

Not only does it improperly display his designs, but it's just plain ugly as a 3/4ths view!

Maybe that pose worked on 1970s mecha, but now we live in an age where 3D objects are geometrically correct!

I actually agree as well. Additionally, I do think that Okawara's designs tend to look...kinda chunky, compared to a lot of other mecha designers that tend to create mobile suits that are more streamlined. And IMO, with some exceptions, the latter tend to look better.

I would have to concur on the concern about Okawara. His art for the Scramble Gundam from the GBF TRY OVA was horrendous compared to the depiction onscreen and the Gunpla itself.
Well, I guess I'm a nobody...

Give ZZ a bigger V fin. It looks too puny. Should be Musha gundam-esque.

Yeah I tend to not like Okawara's designs very much except maybe the 0 Gundam, Stargazer, Strike and the Zaku II.

Hard to say, I think Okawara's works are the best when he get extreme motif. I mean, his design can be plain and boring often, but what he done right make it obvious why he's a legend. Yes, his work tend to be chunky, but when he's working on something suppose to be heavy old piece of hardware, he really capture that feel. Cropping Dougram's linearts make me realize that.

For examples IMO, Zero Gun and Gun Jager are just plain ugly. But Gun Locomoto has THE charm of old boxy robot toy befitting its motif (and look pretty cool despite its weird design).

The Qubeley Mk II should have two more spots for its additional funnels, or simply change it profile to reflect that it has the same funnel capacity as the original Qubeley (10, instead of 12).

Similarly, the Queen Mantha only has 14 spots for storing funnels, yet it's supposed to carry 30. I'm actually inclined to think that someone messed up and copied the fuel capacity of the mass production Qubeley, which indeed has 30 slots for storing funnels. That being said, given its size I do would be willing to think that the Queen Mansa could potentially store spare funnels. For example, it could carry 2 per slot, for a total of 28.

With the Capule essentially being the result of the Principality of Zeon's MSM series development, it should have included the one key aspect that made the Z'gok standout from other MS: fixed weapons on its claws/hands in order to be improve its aiming and firing capabilities.

The Dreissen should have proper racks for its Beam Lancer & Beam Tomahawk weapons, specially for the units seen in ZZ which carry both its trademark melee weapons and 3 tri-blades, therefore not allowing it to use the exchangeable racks that the units on U.C. 0096 are seen using for storing heat sabers and rocket bazookas instead of the tri-blades on either side.

The Gaza C and Gaza D should have the capability to rotate their shoulder shields, and perhaps even be able to take them with their forearms in order to make better use their defensive capabilities.

The Ga-Zowmn should be able to carry two Hyper Knuckle Busters, another secondary handheld weapon or a shield with its left arm.

The Gaza series in general (including the Ga-Zowmn) should have handles that could allow them to ferry other MS as if they were SFS, simialx to the Rezel.

I would consider changing the designation of either the MS-14J Re-Gelg or the MS-14JG Gelgoog Jager, since they are not related at all. I would be more of the opinion of reclassifying the Re-Gelg as MS-14R.

Similarly, I would change the MS-09G and MS-09H into MS-09G Dom II and MS-09GR Dom II Reinforced or Re-Dom. The MS-06D from ZZ I would reclassify as MS-06D2, to differentiate it from the MSV version.

The MS-06JK I would reclassify as Zaku Cannon, which would have the large cannon backpack used by the MS-09K-1 or the AA gatling gun from MSV-R. The MS-06K would be the Zaku Cannon II, have hovering capabilities like the Prototype Dom and its standard cannon backpack would be a beam weapon. Essentially it would a sort of ultimate MS built at California Base using the knowhow and parts of the Dom and Gelgoog series.

I would tackle an E into the Efreet Kai's model number, MS-08TX/E, in order to keep it consistent with those of the MS-08TX/N Efreet Nacht and the MS-08TX/S Efreet Schneid.

The Zeon unit used by Char I would reclassify as Zeon Char Custom/Use or Zeong Provisional Deployment Type, while the Perfect Zeong I would simply reclassify as Zeong.

For the Barbatos and the Astaroth, adding armor on the back of the heads. I'm all for exposed frame bits on occasion but not when the contrast looks so strange and doesn't make any sense. Fortunately, it looks like the Lupus has armor there.

The Harute, adding back the GN Submachineguns that the Arios had in its forearms. They're the exact same arm aside from an extra bit of something hanging off the back, not sure why they removed it. I'd also consequently revise its rifles into standard beam rifles instead of rapid-fire machineguns. The output of the things with a single (fairly skinny) barrel always struck me as a bit out of place. Similarly, I'd have given the Raphael beam sabers in those arm fins since every other machine Tieria piloted had them in some form, and I'd have reinstated the combining bazooka feature for the Seravee II.

Savior Gundam, I'd remove the Super Fortis beam cannons because they never really do anything and hurt some of the sleekness of the cannons they're mounted inside, reduce the size of the shoulder armor and relocate the beam sabers into the shield.

Very minor aesthetic thing but I'd move the sensor on the Stark Jegan's right-shoulder missile tube over so the overall effect between both launchers is symmetrical, though I can understand that as a practical matter it makes sense to not do that.

Pallas Athene, I'd remove the thruster on the rear skirt armor, gives a new meaning to referring that area as the ass-end of a Mobile Suit.

Have you seen the rear of the Byarlant lately? The Athene got nothing on that rear end.

Agreed on all counts, but if you look closely there seems to be room for an extra 2 funnels on the Qubeley's tail binder. Haman's unit simply doesn't make use of them while the Mk. IIs do.
