AOZ Reboot: AMX-101S Galluss-S

New Information about the AOZ reboot series, its from the Denki Hobby site.

http://hobby.dengeki.com/news/140422/.

This design really reminds me why I hate high heels on MS, also is it me or are the names for these new MS either poorly translated or different on purpose?

Anyways, more picture's of the suit;

I would like to know what people think of this new suit and the new Reboot series.

Re: AOZ Reboot: AMZ-105S Gulluss-S

I personally really enjoy a lot of the AOZ REboot MS just from a design aesthetics standing. The Galluss variants, the G variants of the Zaku III and Dom/Dreissen are really nice to me. I also enjoy the RE-Hyze. I dunno if I would like them from a story standpoint but strictly from a design aesthetic/something I would want to own a model of/play as in a game standpoint? Loving them.

Re: AOZ Reboot: AMZ-105S Gulluss-S

I also like alot of the design's but seriously those heels are ridiculous, however my favorite out of the two has to be the artillery focused variant.

I do like how the Reboot designs are very powerful but seem to have been designed to make full use of all those random MS parts lying around.

Although from what I have seen and read the story and especially the characters don't seem especially good to me. I think it has to do with the fact that artist is also doubling as the writer iirc. As I'm fairly certain in Reboot the AEUG are still around. Why? Who the hell knows.

Also, yeah from a story stand point the MS doesnt really make much sense, a whole squadrons worth of Woundworts seems like a tad too much.

Re: AOZ Reboot: AMZ-105S Gulluss-S

To be fair on the heels, they are about on par with the Rozen Zulu, Z-II, Anksha, etc, not too outstanding compared to those.

And yeah. There is a reason I separate designs from stories! I think a lot of great designs are wasted on crappy stories haha.

Re: AOZ Reboot: AMZ-105S Gulluss-S

A quick note about the name and designation of this unit:

-It's model number is AMX-101S, not AMX-105S
-I'm pretty sure it's supposed to simply be called Gallus S, since in the previous entry the Mad Angler was referred to as "Mud Angler".

Re: AOZ Reboot: AMZ-105S Gulluss-S

I just wonder why designers have suddenly latched onto the Gallus, first in Unicorn and now here.

Oh yeah. Sorry. I was must've been a tad tired when I posted this. hehe.

Well the Gallus is a pretty neat unit, I think its a very overlooked really cool design.

Hard to say, but Marshmallow's use of it aside we never really see the thing used at all after Shangri-la. Rather odd for something that isn't a one-off unit like the Hamma Hamma or R-Jarja. If anything, we should see a tad more of the Gallus and Zssa then we tend to do. The latter was found in a mountain cycle on the moon after all.

Re: AOZ Reboot: AMX-101S Galluss-S

Actually the Gallus J and Zssa were fairly common units in ZZ. From the top of my head:

Gallus J:
-At least one unit among Axis defense forces during Judau's infiltration.
-At least one among the Neo Zeon forces on their way to Earth (IIRC it goes down along and Endra cruiser).
-A few units are spotted at Dakar.
-3 units from the Sandra assist the survivors of the Bawoo team that were escorting the Psycho Gundam Mk II.
-Many units seen during the battle of Axis at a Side 3. In one particular scene we see Mashymere's Endra II carrying a large complement of Gallus J, Zssa and Dreissen, which seem to be in a more or less even proportion.

Zssa:
-At least one among the Neo Zeon forces heading to Earth (destroyed by a beam).
-Around 16-18 engaging the Argama and the Gundam team just before descending to Earth.
-Some units spotted at Dakar.
-6 units assigned to Mashymere's Endra II after the AEUG returns to space.
-A whole bunch of them during the battle of Axis.

Re: AOZ Reboot: AMX-101S Galluss-S

Wasn't that backpack and artillery gun for the artillery variant from the Geara Doga? Isn't this new manga set in UC0091?

I wonder if that equipment was designed by Axis and was retrofitted for use by the Geara Doga?

Depending on who you ask, the Geara Doga (or at least, the basic plans/blueprints) have been around since late in Haman's Neo-Zeon. It will be no surprise if its expansion parts are included with that package (and much easier to produce beforehand).

Re: AOZ Reboot: AMX-101S Galluss-S

The original background info said something along the lines of the Geara Doga being a design from a previous Neo Zeon movement, which Char's Neo Zeon had Anaheim Electronics put into mass production.

More recently, the Gundam Missing Link side story shows at least one blue Geara Doga piloted by former Marchosias member Vincent Gleissner fighting alongside the rebuilt AMX-018[HADES] Todesritter, against some surviving Glemy Toto's faction rebels (including a red Queen Mansa) in U.C. 0091.

Re: AOZ Reboot: AMX-101S Galluss-S

The MS of this series are awesome in their updating of ZZ MS into newer, sleeker, tougher designs. 8)

The version 0091 should be a HGUC model. I can find more room on the monoeye battalion shelf for it.
The version 0088 should be a HGBF custom version with a Gyan shield, and be featured in a forthcoming Try OAV. ;)

Re: AOZ Reboot: AMX-101S Galluss-S

I'm pretty sure the 0088 AMX-101S is supposed to resemble Charles Rochester OMS-14SRF:

http://gundam.wikia.com/wiki/OMS-14SRF_ ... ester_Type

However, it should be noted that by U.C. 0122, Charles Rochester is supposed to be only 25 years old:

http://gundam.wikia.com/wiki/Charles_Rochester

The pilot of this AMX-101S might be supposed have a relationship with him somehow though. Maybe it was piloted by Charles' father (or some other close relative) or by however became the leader of Mars Zeon before Charles.

As for the 0091 version, it simply appears to be painted in ground use colors, just like the similarly colored AMX-009G and AMX-011G. This does raise the question of whether the similarly painted AMX-101K (namely the novel version) could have also been developed by the same group?

Besides the color scheme, the AMX-101K lacks the shoulder verniers of the standard AMX-101, which suggests that it was specifically built as a ground unit unlike the Gallus J. The timing also works well, with no AMX-101K units confirmed before U.C. 0091. And like the AMX-009G, AMX-011G and AMX-101S, it borrows weapons from other MS.

Re: AOZ Reboot: AMX-101S Galluss-S

According to the interactive text on the Dengeki Hobby site, the red and white color scheme originated with Kycilia's royal guard, and has been inherited by the "Zeon Mars" faction. The Gyan EOS from the MSV-R series is probably the royal guard machine they're thinking of (it's represented in the graphic by a Gyan silhouette), and the lineage is traced from there to the Gaz-R, then the Gallus S, and on to the Oldsmobile version of the Gundam F90 and finally Charles's RF Gelgoog.

I'd also note that the round shield, with its built-in mega particle cannons, creates a link between the classic Gyan shield and the one used by the Jagd Doga (which plays a royal guard-like role in Char's Neo Zeon). All in all, a pretty cool addition to the menagerie, and a rare case of Advance of Zeta actually filling in gaps rather than pursuing its own weird direction down a technological rabbit hole. :-)

Re: AOZ Reboot: AMX-101S Galluss-S

Thanks for the enlightening information guys. I think some one told me the Geara Doga was an Axis design before It sounds familiar, but It could be my mind playing tricks on me. It also does seem to be a nice tie in like Toysdream said.

If the UC91 version is being used on Mar's, wouldn't those high heels be a detriment in a desert environment like Mars? Especially with the Bruno artillery gun. It seems like to me that unit would be very unbalanced to me. I could be wrong.

I wonder how Mars Zeon would fit into the story, or have they been retconned? Or do we simply not know at this point? I really can't read Japanese to understand the little manga snipets on the Denki site. Is this manga even released yet? See that's how out of the loop I am with this manga.

Re: AOZ Reboot: AMX-101S Galluss-S

I don't recall whether they ever put the new comic in the Dengeki Hobby magazine, but the magazine's defunct now, so it survives only on the website. The comic itself was pretty sketchy and underwhelming, and the whole premise of "Zeon civil war on Mars" sounded dubious from the start, but I guess since it's already established we have Zeons hiding out on Mars then it's fair game.

At this point, it appears that the Zeons on Mars have split into two factions. There's a "Re-Zeon" group led by Alicia Zabi, which has teamed up with leftover Titans who have fled the Earth Sphere. There's also a more traditionalist "Zeon Mars" faction which is allied with the remains of Axis - they're the ones using refurbished Galluss, Zaku III, and Dreissen types. The leader of the "Zeon Mars" faction, Chester, was once a member of Kycilia's royal guard, who piloted a Gyan in the royal guard's red-and-white colors (again, see the Gyan EOS). The theory is that a lot of the later Oldsmobile aces grew up admiring him, so they copied those colors.

Re: AOZ Reboot: AMX-101S Galluss-S

So it is already finished then? Huh. The story does seem very underwhelming to me, Re-Zeon somehow getting an entire a sudden abundance of a very, very rare MS. Apparently from what I've heard the AEUG are still around and have a giant asteroid base, surrounded by a fleet. Bringing Mad Anglers to Mars (seriously why).

I could gather that someone other Zeon faction was at work from those free little snippets of the manga/comic. I couldn't understand what was being said, but I could gather what was happening in that little snippet.

I do quite like some of the more ingenious designs. Like "Gran" versions of the Hizack, Barzam and Marasai which replaces their lower body with an Icarus system that makes them float around like hover tanks. I also do like redesign to that transport plane they had in the original MSG that the White Base used. Turning it into more of a hover train. Overall the mecha design is really nice, the story not so much.

Re: AOZ Reboot: AMX-101S Galluss-S

I wonder if we might eventually get a AMX-101G Gallus G, which could fill the gap between the general purpose AMX-101 Gallus J and the seemingly ground use support type AMX-101K Gallus K?

On the other hand, I wonder exactly how common/uncommon could the Gallus S have been? I have pointed out that one way to reconcile the early deployment of the AMX-011 and the Zaku III being a direct competitor to the Dooben Wolf would be assuming that the vanilla AMX-011 (AMX-011A?) was the one deployed early along the AMX-009, while the AMX-011S could be the version that lost against the Dooben Wolf. After all, the 2 units that can barely be seen among Glemy's forces seem to be AMX-011S rather than AMX-011. Since Glemy seized control of Axis, which gave him access to most of Neo Zeon's most advanced units (with the exception of a few units already assigned to Haman's Cyber-Newtypes), having the competition of the Dooben Wolf also around for his forces to use doesn't seem so far-fetched.

Besides, we already have a precedent of an S-type unit replacing the standard version in the form of the MSM-07S, which supposedly ended up replacing the vanilla MSM-07.

Re: AOZ Reboot: AMX-101S Galluss-S

it would certainly be interesting. For a Gallus G I do think that it would probably be a ground type unit like the Zaku Ground Type. Like the K is the Zaku Cannon.

I'd wager that it would probably not be very common. Probably only given to Haman's royal guard if so it probably would be a very limited production run. I wonder if it was supposed to be a cheaper alternate to the Gazu units or a supplement. Although I dont know if those twins were considered as part of her Royal Guard. Did she even have one?
