Is it just me or does that space type mobile worker have a lot Human Reform League vibes?

Same designer, Kenji Teraoka.

Anyway more info from the December gunpla releases:
-A Barbatos upgrade in the form of an additional Long Distance Transportation Booster which is gonna be huge by the description(no pic yet). New weapon seems to be a sword with a hilt. Also comes with Graze joint parts which IMO seem to be for the Graze Kai which is a Tekkadan MS and will perhaps also use the same booster, but let's see.
-Amida's custom rifle is called Assault Rifle: http://img17.poco.cn/mypoco/myphoto/201 ... 40_007.jpg

Some descriptions seem to indicate the MS will appear in the anime as their gunpla is released. So Man Rodi and Gusion somewhere in December.

Not just you. It has a definite family resemblence to the Fantong/Anf, with something resembling the Space-type Tieren's propellant tanks on its back. Teraoka Kenji designed both.

Quick correction: the sword with hilt from the new Barbatos+Booster kit is actually the one that comes with the 1/100 Barbatos: https://i.imgur.com/EhJ9NY5.jpg

It's the same Long Sword with hilt parts attached

Also the Booster can equipped as a weapon besides being a backpack

These look pretty awesome, and I plan to pick up a few of them

Damn I like that battleship shape. Nice to see the boosters on the Braze can be elevated to the back, it was looking pretty obvious though. Looks better than being on butt though.

They're also showing off how you can swap parts between kits. Since we know Barbatos will be doing that in-universe, I wonder if seeing the kit with the Schwalbe Graze's shield/weapon thing is a sign that it's going to be one of those field upgrades.

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Mecha Thread Mk

The background on the mobile suit is worded a little strangely, so I'll chime in with my own here:

Roughly 300 years ago, humanity drove civilization to the brink of extinction in the Calamity War. The Barbatos is an ancient mobile suit constructed during those times. Even with the technology at that time, due to the difficulty of operating two Ahab Reactors in parallel at high power, they rolled out 72 units utilizing the Gundam frame.

Barbatos is a rare mobile suit bearing the name Gundam among the 72 registered. The frame uses inertial control to reduce the heavy burden on the pilot to operate at high mobility and high power through Ahab Particles generated by the phase transitions in the reactor's vacuum device. The positioning of the cockpit in front of the reactor was also made for this purpose. Among the other same frames, Barbatos has been adjusted for versatility, having the ability to adapt to any situation and exchange various parts.

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Mecha Thread Mk

It looks like the Barbatos would be salvaging parts from fallen enemies, which reminds me of Delphine and the Astray's on field mods.

The 1/100 Graze mentions the inclusion of a forearm part for the 1/100 Barbatos, I hope it isn't the Schwalbe Graze's arm which rules out the need for a 1/100 release. But then, it has been shown at expos the HG Barbatos with the shoulders and left forearm of the Graze. Gaelio's rifle lance in weapons set 2 gives modellers a reason to paint the Schwalbe Graze pink.

There also appears to be a lack of MS size beam weapons, which I like.

Yeah, I'm liking this physicality. Of course, beam weapons might just come into play later....

The Hyakuren must have gotten some cues from Teraoka's Ahead.

Ebikawa's Graze looks like Teraoka's KG-6 from Aldonah Zero.

That frog Zaku resembles the Grimoire.

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Mecha Thread Mk

I'm actually disliking the lack of beam weapons but at the same time I like gradual improvements. So if they start out with normal weapons now before evolving to beam rifles, beam sabers and beam launchers later, I'll totally be happy with that. Especially like it when beam weapons become some sort of big change of tide in a war.

If the protagonist exusively use the traditional Gundam pink beams, so much the better.

The Graze's rifle is shown to be single fire, thus truly a rifle compared to Jean calling his machine gun as a rifle in 0079.

It may have an automatic setting though.

Tekkadan is the heroes' group after leaving CGS.

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Mecha Thread Mk

Graze Kai being a makeshift repair of a captured machine makes sense.

You usually don't see a formal Kai version or Mk-II of the newest mainstay unit when it has just been introduced to the audience. Of course, the Flag had a quick one week mod speed specific for tuning.

I see that since they have that many factions, they want to sell many model kits without overloading one faction with too many monsters of the week. Of course, we will see more than just the mainstay grunts of each faction and eventually they will get stronger units. At least one faction must be like Zeon with terrain and combat role specific designs as separate MS rather than just one general purpose. Maybe they'll keep grunts to a minimum and then unearth more of the 72 Gundams, but then the battles may get too one dimensional.

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Mecha Thread Mk

- I'm pretty certain we'll get one or two more Gundam Frames by the end. Whether they make battles too one-dimensional will depend on who gets them and what status they're in.

- I get that opening up the Graze's head and exposing the whole camera is probably useful in terms of getting more sensor input (with the tradeoff of more vulnerability) but when you're facing an opponent you already substantially outclass, you're just showing off.

- Color me somewhat surprised that they didn't show us the whole 'Protagonist activates the Gundam' sequence this time, in favor of keeping the focus on the battle outside.

- Do we have a name for Gjallarhorn's Mobile Worker-type machines yet?
