Re: The Official Gundam Build Fighters Mecha Thread Mk I
To me, Build Fighters reminds me of VS Astray.
Re: The Official Gundam Build Fighters Mecha Thread Mk I
I wouldn't necessarily go that far. Vs Astray was mostly models cobbled up with no original pieces. The thing is, this seems to mostly just extend to optional backpacks for Gunpla in the vein of the Strike Gundam. Not necessarily what I'd want (Since I prefer using things like the option spikes, radomes, etc, rather than just a premade backpack) but I don't think it's gone into quite the territory that Vs Astray did. Not yet at least. Besides, it's a show based on Gunpla, you can't necessarily expect every design to be original.

Re: The Official Gundam Build Fighters Mecha Thread Mk I
besides which, the entire premise of Gunpla Builders and Build Fighters sort of demands that these designs be mostly cobbled together out of pieces from other designs. VS ASTRAY had no such excuse.

Yeah, like the Dendrobrium Zaku II F2/Zakrello combo.Xenosynth wrote:I wouldn't necessarily go that far. Vs Astray was mostly models cobbled up with no original pieces. That thing gets a pass though, because it's just plain hilarious. It's like an Acguy with a teddy bear face and a cute little red backpack. And a beam flute.

Nice to see the model kit confirm what we all must've thought when we saw that. Double-barreled Buster Rifle...That IS cool.

Wing Zero is over there in the corner looking highly annoyed C:
Re: The Official Gundam Build Fighters Mecha Thread Mk I
So Wing Zero had the coach gun side-by-side style, and Fenice goes with the over/under model.

Re: The Official Gundam Build Fighters Mecha Thread Mk I
I'm looking at that Buster Rifle on the Wing Fenice, and one thing comes to mind: an emergency beam rifle to be used when the Buster Rifle is out of ammo.
That out of the way, I do like a lot of the designs we're seeing; though the position on the Microwave collectors on the X-Maoh might take some getting used to on my part. Also: while there is nothing wrong with having a red Zaku featured prominently in the early art...am I weird for having wanted the (most likely) rival flying something non-Zaku-or-Zaku-inspired?

Signature to be determined later...look! A Puppy!

Gunpla manuals provide model numbers and weapon info! Though not on the HGUC level of info
MS-06R-AB Zaku Amazing:
-Height 18.0m
-Weight 86.8t
-Weapons: Long Rifle(high power solid rounds)x1, Rocket Launcherx10, Heat Knifex2(with built-in Vulcans) and Handgunx2(can fire HEAT and APFSDS rounds)
-Equipment: Reactive Armor and Shieldx2
GAT-X105B/FP
-Height 17.7m
-Weight 96.3t
-Weapons: Strengthened Beam Riflex1(has the power of a Hyper Mega Launcher), Beam Riflex1(balanced), Beam Gunx1, Chobam Shieldx1(illegible to read what kind of weapon it has, since it doesn't mention beam it may be a solid weapon), Beam Saberx2
-Equipment: Build Booster(contains Large Beam Cannonx2)

Yeah, looking at the positioning and the slightly smaller size, I imagine the logic behind Fenice's under-barrel is to be a low-power weapon for use when out of energy for the main gun or when using it would be overkill.
Of course, if the above weapon descriptions are accurate, 'overkill' isn't something they're particularly concerned about...

Technically a model, but more Fenice armaments are shown.
The fencing saber is pretty badass, and I like the beam cape. Everything's nice but... wtf is with that segway?

Re: The Official Gundam Build Fighters Mecha Thread Mk I
No mention of the new Red Frame yet...for shame.

Red Frame meets Seravee meets Gasaraki.
Re: The Official Gundam Build Fighters Mecha Thread Mk I
Well, the Fenice's segway finally has a name. Meteor Hopper Kai (Dunno what the original meteor hopper was). Seems like it's getting sold with the Fenice as well as separately, so your HG models can now have bikes of their own! Bandai really seems to be taking it to the next level with option parts (Which is a good thing since buying entire models for certain parts is a huge pain in the neck for people who like to kitbash.)
